EVO X Hot or Not??

I think it's horrible. It's all electronic, which means it's going to be complicated and offer a disconnected driving experience. The dual exhaust outlets offer no benefit whatsoever. And I bet it's going to be "comfortable". Pah.

Can I reserve my judgement until the MR RS version comes out?...please tell me they are still doing a true RS version ie no stereo, lighter weight, stripped out and rolling on steelies!

On exterior looks alone I think its fantastic. On everything else--I don't like it. But, I'd still rather have the EVO X than the fugly new WRX.

Evolution > WRX/STi as always, but I'd generally choose the R32 over both anyway. While I completely love the raw nature of the Evolution, I'd much rather have the civility (and capability) of the Vee-Dub.

Logically most of the crap featured in the concept version won't be featured in the actual road going version, meaning the road car will be an incredible piece of machinery, just like the Evo IX.

Much like every other evo released. The yaw control system itself is a huge piece of electronic engineering.

EDIT: I'm sure your opinion would change if you drove it, I've seen nothing but good reviews about the non evo model.

Exterior shots

I think it looks okay. It doesn't seem all that special anymore. As for the rest, I'm not sure. It can have electronics, as long as they are "rally" inspired. If it has any Lexus electronics, I won't like it. And about about "luxury," isn't that what the regular Lancer is for?

Um, I believe the Evolution MR was Mitsubishi's "luxury" car here in the US for a while... I know I would have rated it higher than the Gallant Ralliart.

Give me a basic Evolution RS, and I'm a happy man. My fear is that with the addition of the yaw control, the DSG-style gearbox, other computer nannies, not to mention the fairly outrageous aerodynamics that will go on the car... It may be too heavy to be fun anymore.

It's worth noting that NONE of the USDM Evos had yaw control.

NONE. Not the GSR, not the MR, not the RS, not the IX's, NONE.

But, Every other country has had it since the Evo IV.

Is the thing getting a traditional manual tranny? If it is I'll dislike it a little less, but if it isn't I'm with MistaX saying it doesn't even have a clutch, so I don't want it.

Normal 5 speed manual standard, sequential box optional. Sequential box possibly including a two way stick, which would be a first on a roadcar. But no clutch.

It looks better than the previous model. I still prefer the older models though. EVO V and VI

Now, if it's a real race-style mechanical sequential then I'll take it. But I hear they have problems with lurching, noise, and smoothness...

Its competition:

I doubt anyone will be complaining about the Evo feeling disconnected from the road.

The dual exhaust outlets offer no benefit whatsoever.
So what? They didn't on the S2000 either. Or the Chevy Camaro. Or a whole bunch of other cars that look better with dual exhaust then they would without.

I don't think it looks better with dual exhausts. That was kinda my point, but whatever. I think the tips make the car look upscale.

-> Well, to arcade gamers, the EvoX will drive like a dream. But to the rest of us, well I'd rather get an older car like the Evo V ot Evo VI TME. :indiff:

-> Either way, I'm really not too enthustiastic on new cars as of late, the only new car I would take is still the S2000, a Honda-powered Atom, and the '07 STi. But other than that, I'll keep my wagon, thank you very much! :)

Wasnt sure were to post this, and I didnt think it deserved a new thread so here goes. I know someone with a Evo X, but today it wouldnt start, no starter sound or anything, I'm not sure what miles are on it but not many anyway. Any ideas what it could be, is there some electrical thing that kicks in after a few 100 miles that stalls the car until something is checked or anything like that. If anyone could reply soon that'd be great, thanks in advance.

The 10 is the best-looking Evo, imo (though the 6 TME is definitely up there), but I'm not sure on performance. I've never driven an Evo, so based on Top Gear's reviews, the Evo 8 MR FQ-400 seems to perform better, but I think I'd rather have the X. I'm just one of the "PlayStation generation" that loves technology.

"Starter fails to engage" possible causes:

- Battery discharged or faulty
- Faulty starting circuit wiring
- Defective starter relay
- Faulty starter solenoid
- Faulty starter
- Defective ignition switch
- Park/Neutral position switch faulty or misadjusted
- Clutch pedal position switch faulty or misadjusted

if it would be offered as coupe or 3 door hatch like BMW 1-series, I'd be all over it. As it is, that Galant-inspired front end alone saves the car from certain doom. it's too much of a warmed up sedan.. A fat man with American football gear on.

All he needs to know is that the dealership will fix it. I wouldn't even bother trying to understand all the computers and whatnot in new cars.

Example: Apparently in many new cars the instrument panel is one of the vital "brains" of the car, along with the PCM. The instrument cluster. And if you unplug any of the computers the car no longer works as a whole, and a dealer technician has to be authorized with all sorts of codes and passwords for each computer to reset everything. I was watching some of my technician friend's master tech training videos and they mentioned something about some special procedure that involved...the window switches. :dunce:

could always retro fit one,not cheap though! currently back on the standard box (evo 7 RS) but a mechanical sequential shifter as the race box is at AMS (i think).

The Evo 10 looks great from the front. The rear is absolutely hideous, though.

Best looking Evo is still the 6, followed by the 8/9

I dont' like the floppy-chassis'd VII-IX cars all that much. something was lost in translation: not to mention, the Impreza trounced it. Every. damn. time.

I like the X myself: it reminds me of a miniature Nissan GT-R. I'd spring for the GSR, myself, unless I'm building a Gr. N car and the SST tranny is allowed. and durable enough. Now that the Impreza is a Corolla with a Boxer engine, I'm a Mitsu guy this time.

Unless Ford brings out an AWD Focus RS.
