Top Gear on GT5
Our inbox will be relieved at least. Not a day goes by without somebody firing us a note saying either they - or their amazing old Capri - can lap the TG test track faster than Stig. Next year, on Playstation 3, you'll be able to find out.

Top Gear has hooked up with Sony to make our iconic test track part of Gran Turismo 5. And as an office with the permanent distraction of a Playstation 2, race seat, force-feedback wheel and a copy of the current GT4, it's the best news we've had since Alonso missed out on the F1 championship.

The latest iteration of the GT series will also be fully online - and, alongside lapping the TG circuit, players will be able to download classic episodes of Top Gear via a dedicated motoring channel called Gran Turismo TV on the Playstation network.

So, how long do we have to wait? As with previous versions of the game a scaled-down prologue will come first with around 10 tracks and 60 cars. This will feature the Top Gear TV content but not the TG track. There's no official word on when this is due, but we're expecting it to hit the UK around Spring next year.

The full version of the game is due to arrive around Christmas 2008 and, again, details are yet to be confirmed. We have been told to expect around 900 cars and, of course, our track.

We'll obviously keep you posted on the development of the game, but in the meantime check out our guide to the TG track to find out exactly what you'll be letting yourself in for.

cool eh?

Amar,
you're the man dude,
Look at the leather wheel in f40! STUNNING!

Thanks for the updates amar
Now we have to do is wait for our own gt5p copys! :D

Amazing, amazing, amazing visuals considering they are photos from your TV screen. Thanks so very much for taking the time to give us all this info. I can't wait. Glad I've preordered from the UK already.

Great update but i'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for some pictures op the mine's R34 or blitz ER34.

sounds like tyre ware is in the pal version, another good update thanks Amar

Quote froma Amar " especially in first laps when tyres are still cold"

Certainly looks like tyre wear is in there! This really dose add another dimension to the online stuff coupled with the tuning Please let us know if you can enter your cars tuned into online races....or is this still an unknown? :sly::nervous:
Online race entrance restrictions 300 performance points with tyre wear.....That really would keep me busy for months

Also looking at the screen shots I can see some motion blur going on, I take it Photo mode didn't make it into prolouge after all:banghead::nervous:

amazing update again, many thanks  amar

I've got the Japanese version and was going to import the US one but I'm buying the PAL version instead, I can't ignore that thing for 2-3 weeks.

What he said:eek:

It is extremely detailed!

Sorry, I have never heard an explanation of det word

PS: Page 35!!! (This is getting boring)

Hi. I have a question. Can you ride with F1 in normal races? I mean can you race against cars in class C,B,A and S?? THX for answer

:rolleyes:I'm talking about when one or more tires literally stop rotating "lock up" . Flatspoting as a result of this would be a great realism option though:idea:

6 gb of install? That can't be right. I got mine of PSN, but that's only a 1,8 gb file incl. install..
And yes, that is the PAL version as well.

Fyshokid,
It means that the wheel stops rotating , when you brake really hard,
never seen formula 1 when they brake to hard into a turn and there comes smoke for the front wheels?,
That's flat spotting,

Do you understand what i mean? .

Ah, thanks (I think that happened alot in GT4)

Uuh... What's flatspotting? (sorry!)

No problem.. flatspotting is when a locked tire "one thats has stopped rotating under braking force" causes the contact patch to grind down and form literally a flat spot on the otherwise round tire...

But I really don't think this was possible in gt4 though....

ah beat me to it
