I STILL can't gold the damn things. about 1 - 2 sec off in each. I think I'm too impatient? I've tried loads of settings & tunings. Please help :)!

Learning the track helped me a lot.

It took me about 3 tries per track to get gold, once i learned the braking points and where on the track i could keep the pedal to the floor i hit gold.

Just be patient, learn the car's braking points for said track, and remember slow in fast out.

EDIT - For the record, I used my own Fiat 500 (fairly straightforward race that one), RKM's Juliet Elise and Greycap's (LPD) Subaru, all available in the above link. Different people have had differing amounts of success, so pick and choose what suits you best, but above all, persevere...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll keep at it. I know the tracks inside out, btw! LOL!

I just used standard tuning and won each by around 5 seconds after a couple trys. Just nail the apex's, and for the lotus one, traction is essential, get a straight drive out of the corner.

I has gold finally at the 500's... but only when I has discovered that can cut the final chicane... I feel so dirty :(

That shaves hardly any time off at all because you still go flat out through the chicane, you only gain like 20 meters lol.

For the Fiat race, really try and preserve momentum. Little to no braking is required.

The Elise race just takes practice in not having the rear end slide out from behind you.

The STi race was the most challenging, but I finally managed to gold it by practicing "slow in, fast out". Really aim for the red apex markers, and throttle all the way up once you have reached the apex - it'll help you come out of the turns with more speed and control.

I am an average driver (still have lots of stuff to gold on the special events) and I managed to get gold on these three expert events this weekend.

The trick for the Fiat event was to learn the enter and exit speeds on each corner. Since the car is so slow I found that it was the easiest way to make sure I didn't lose momentum around the track.

For the Lotus and especially the Subaru event the final key was to apply a wing to the cars in order to get the right traction in the corners. For the Subaru it was like a totally different car before and after fitting the wing really. It could actually turn! :)

Keep trying and you will get there!

Personally I hope PD make more of these kind of challanges now and then. As I'm still learning to drive properly it really helps me a ton to master the details in order to become a better driver.

Yes, shaves very few time but was "that little tap" that I was needing...

EDIT:At STI challenge, only silver... At Elise... pfff... bronze but many many many repetitions repetitions repetitions :D

The elise one is actually the easiest lol, beat it by 7 seconds when i redid it on my alt account. Straighter corner exits are key for traction.

These races are really hard but also really fun. Its the most fun I've had in a racing game in a while because your car doesn't feel overpowered compared to your opponents.

Tuning matters a lot IMO. In both of the first two events, lowering your top speed to get faster acceleration helps a lot. I didn't try the third event yet.

I used the SHIRAKAWA Akira tune on the Fiat & got gold. Thanks! Tried the VTiRoj (RKM) tune on the Elise & was about 0.6 sec off. Was getting late & I was too tired to concentrate properly. But with this tune, I know I'll nail it tonight. :) DREADING tackling the Scooby again! :ouch: LOL!

They certainly are fearsome events. Pretty much best perfect technique and total concentration is needed, which does make a refreshing change. They should release a expert and standard seasonal event each week.

For the lotus event, for those having trouble keeping it under control.
Lighten the car up all the way. then ad ballast weight so that the car is weight legal. then move the ballast weight up to the front of the car. itll then balance the car and itll be a sinch to drive. hope ive helped

Lol I'd love to see video of that. 5 seconds my ass, lmao.

I found the switch from AT to MT made a huge difference. From 2nd and 2.5s behing leader to winning by 2.5s. I was screaming at the TV as I passed the lead car.

My pleasure. RKM's Juliet Elise is a great little car. I used it for the British Lightweight Seasonals as well.

The Scooby challenge relies on you keeping your tyres clean. For this race (the others maybe, I'm not sure), grip reduction is set to "Real", so if you pick up dirt on the side of the track, it's going to take a couple of corners to clean them off, by which time you've lost too much time :yuck:

Stick with it, you'll reveal in the satisfaction once you've grabbed that Gold...

Add me on PSN (bigburt82), I share all my cars (setups included) for you to use on the seasonals.

Good luck!

The STI event was the hardest for me. I actually used all the "bolt on" parts, and then a stage 1 turbo. That put me around 427hp I think. Then used the power limiter to meet the regulations. Doing that helps you have more torque and wider, flat powerband. You can also do a full weight reduction to the STI and be just a little below the restriction, so then add the necessary weight (I think its only 9kg) to the very rear of the car to help get rid of the nose-heaviness. Stock gearbox was fine for me.

The key to apexing correctly at Laguna Seca is to nail those red spots just inside of the rumble strips. In the STI, brake earlier than you'd expect, and be OFF the brake before you ever start turning the wheel. Otherwise you'll be too wide and too slow. Need to run around 1'34 on every lap, you can get away with a 1'35 on the first one.

1:40's ain't going to cut it then?

To be fair, I only tried the STI one briefly last night after finally nailing that blinking Fiat one. I was so slow. Really need to spend time tuning it properly, & getting used to Laguna Seca. My brain was full to the brim with Trial Mountain at the time, & I just couldn't get round corners in my Subaru bus.

after 4 tries, 6th with a fully tuned car. Have to admit, I'm not good with 4wd or hard tires.
Still only turning 1:38's probably because I'm used to being able to turn in with some braking, which is a sure recipe for going wide with the WRX...
practice, practice :D

Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you. We will eventually beat them

I finally got gold at Tsukuba. I will post a tune for the Lotus Elise and then give some tips and I guarantee anyone can get a gold in that race without really pushing the car.

Here's the tune I used.

LSD: 9
18
15

Ride Height: -15 -12
Spring Rate (Add 5 clicks to the right on both front and rear)
Dampers EXT: F5 R4
COMP: F6 R4
ROLL F3 R2
Camber: F 1.8 R 2.1
Toe : F -05 R +8

*Note- make sure you add all racing flywheels to the Drive train. Also, add a rear wing and set the down force to 10. Purchase a racing air filter and then power down the engine power until around 195HP. (It will allow the extra 1HP)

Now, the strategy. Tsukuba is all about exiting the turns, go in slow, brake early and then smash the pedal out of the turn, and pass the other cars on the outside. You should be able to catch the lead car in the beginning of the final lap. Good Luck.

I found the fiat and lotus races to be "just right". I beat both on my first attempt, but on both I passed the leader in the final turn. Both cars I tuned myself to meet my preferences.

The scooby race was my nemesis. I failed 4 times and decided I wasn't really interested in it. But the next day it started bugging me that I had quit and I decided I was going to beat it. After making several adjustments on the car to no avail I figured I needed to adjust ME. I started braking just a little earlier and rolling through the corners and powering out. Next time I caught the leader at the final turn but when he cut down on my line I blew it and wound up in the dirt. Next pass I caught him in the same place but went around him on the outside for the win.

500 Race: Get the car set up so that the back end rotates a bit in corners. Softer settings up front, firmer settings in the rear. Also get the car's power up to around 130bhp then use the power limited to get down to the limit, makes it so you have full power through the entire rpm range.

Lotus: Fully mod the car without doing a RM. Get crazy with the camber since the track has tight corners (I ran 2.5 up front 1.5 in the rear). And gear the car super short with the 6 speed transmission. You should be maxing 6th before entering the final sweeper. Again the more power the better because you can dial it back to have full power throught the rpm range.

STi: It's going to understeer...a lot. Especially after the first lap once the tires are warmer it wants to understeer a ton. Try throwing the car into the corners a little sideways, worked for me.
