What sort of lap times have people been getting in the F1 car at Cote D'Azur? The real life record is 1.14.439 by Schumacher. Just wondering how the game and track compares.

Less than 70 hours until the European release, then finally I'll be able to do it myself :dopey:

I though Kimi Raikkonen's lap of 1'13.780 was the lap record...

The AI in B-spec got 1'22.585 in the the black Formula Gran Turismo 2004. This is in the 5th pace and no overtake. I got 1'24.275. Neither I or the AI can drive better than Schumacher.

Me and my friend pushed each other until I got a 1.14.3 with the DFP steering wheel. That was great fun.

I think, if the tracks and cars are modeled very accurately, we should be able to easily beat real lap records.

we can race around on the limit and not worry about fatal high speed mistakes or loosing a race.

I take it kimi acheived that time during a race, in which he coudlt have been pushing 100%

that said, im not sure which year the f1 car is in gt4 compared to the world record time one.

even if you teleport home from the store, pop the game in, skip the intro, obtain all your licenses instantly, somehow get a car that will win the 24hr. race, then do B-spec in 3x speed, it will still be more then 70 hours, considering that the only way to get the F1 car is to win the 24hr race :)

1'16.559 in gt4 :yuck:

ummm lol 3laps.
b spec was racing agianst my ghost but would always screw up in the hairpin. first sector would be on my tail. but the last 2 he would fall back 3seconds

guys.. dont forget that the chicane after the tunnel in gt3 is closed off and in gt4 its not... and IRL the drivers go around the chicane.... and that too is in the records... so if you wanna post a record.. make sure that it involves you going around the chicane.. not jumping over the rumble strips like we usually do

Yes, I just meant I'll finally be able to play it lol.

Ugh, I dunno. According to the official F1 website it's Schumacher with 1.14

http://www.formula1.com/race/circuitmap/737.html

according to the automobile club de monaco, who run the GP there, the lap record during a race was Michael with 1'14"439 in 2004. However,

1997, the original S-bend around the swimming pool was redesigned and called the "Louis Chiron" bend
2003, the first phase of works only affected the southern side of the port. 5000 square metres of land were reclaimed from the sea. The circuit between the 2nd S-bend of the swimming pool and the Rascasse was moved 10 metres and completely redesigned. A chicane was added to the exit from the second swimming-pool bend
2004, works will double the width of the promenade where the pits on the boulevard Albert 1er are located, by building over the old track between the swimming pool and the Rascasse. 250 square metres of new pits will be provided for the teams.

Which track is in GT4?

its no use comparing ur times to the current Lap record at monaco.

the monaco circuit was modified in 2003 ( turn one, swimming pool exit and rascasse)

thus the real life times are based on a slightly different track. gt4 still has the pre2003 track. i dunno why they didnt update it.

they updated the casio triangle chicane at suzuka which was just changed last year but they couldnt update monaco :(

last years gp was about 1:15-16 on most of the fast laps, the odd high 14.

btw IRL never raced on monaco, and the chicane isnt opend. plus if u were to cut threw it , its slower. in my f1 game i got 1:13 in my reanault

I just raced this track today and my best lap time was 1'15''179, 1:46'21''985 overall. Here is my setup where it deviates from default:

Rear Toe: 0
Gearbox: 12 (auto)
ASM: Both at 3
TC: 5

This is my first run through Monaco with the F1 car so I'm sure there is room for improvement. Also if anyone is interested here are the gears I'm using:

Sainte Devote: 3rd
Massanet: 4th
Casino: 3rd
Mirabeau: 2nd
Loews: 1st
Portier: 2nd, sometimes 3rd
Nouvelle Chicane: 2nd
Tabac: 4
Piscine exit (swimming pool): 3rd
La Rascasse: 2nd
Anthony Noghes: 3rd

The F1 engine seems very flexible so you may prefer different gears, I'm undecided on what's best. I haven't really done any work with the ratios as you can see. I'm also having a weird handling problem, the rear of the car seems to vibrate a bit starting at Mirabeau through Portier and also a little through Anthony Noghes. I can't seem to fix it. Any ideas?

What? There the swimming pool chicane looks exactly as it did in GT3.... :odd:

IRL = In Real Life (not to be confused with Indy Racing League or whatever it's called) that has screwed me up a couple times here at GTP.
