Decided to waste a lot of time yesterday and build up a settlement because I had an idea for Murkwater and wanted to test it. It worked brilliantly (thus far, hoping I don't encounter glitches with the way NPC's walk around the place), right beside the workshop I have two shack staircases leading two stories up with a big room/living area built out from there, with bedding, lights, decorations and eventually crafting stations. Around the bottom area on the ground I have a walled in yard with the garden, an Industrial Water Purifier in the swamp water and only one doorway out which will greet any attackers with 3 auto turrets (I'll up this number one day, and eventually put staircases leading to the top of the wall with auto turrents on them).
The place should be really easy to defend now, and makes good use of a nasty swamp area by turning it into a cosy living area.
One day too, I'll see if it will allow me to build more rooms in the upstairs living quarters for shops and things.
Use the right controller stick to switch between targets. You may need to use up a critical hit to get them, though. You can slso use VATS to target mines, although it's difficult in the midst of combat. It helps a lot for places like the Tucker Memorial Bridge and the Starlight Drive-In.

The game was kind to me today and gave me an attack on Murkwater to test it out. A small troop of Gunners attacked and it all worked well, the settlers were even smart enough to use the doorway for cover.

I find it helpful to keep tapping the VATS button when I'm approaching a new place (still exploring ), good for spotting those pesky mines.
Loving the game so far, finally got a sniper shot on a Suicide Mutant's hand, boom! Building things is taking up a lot of time now, I wish I'd spotted the Scavenger perk earlier...
Is there a way to share/take photos or make a video on PS4 that I can post to YouTube or put in a post here?
Also, has anyone got a good way to farm likes with Macready? The only time he likes anything I do is if I steal stuff, which isn't always an available option. I'd like to get his headshot perk.
Edit: How does stealing stuff with him work? Do you only get one like for stealing the first item? What if I steal something, fast travel somewhere then fast travel back and steal something again? Would that work to get continous likes? I'll try it if nobody knows.
On the DS4 the button to the left of the touch pad lets you save screen shots or save the last 15 mins game play. After that it can be edited in the share factory app or trimmed down to the bit you want and exported directly to YouTube.
It might be worth paying a visit to Vault 81. There are large areas that are unguarded (and you can get your fusion cores back). If you have keys to houses in Diamond City - like Earl Sterling's and Doc Crocker's - you can steal their stuff without worrying about getting caught.
Anyone know how to counteract a Sentry Bot's self-destruct sequence once its HP drops to zero? Legendaries self-destruct twice, and both deal damage equivalent to a Mini-nuke strike..
Finally, got Danse to idolise me, just X6-88 to go now.
Yesterday I encountered a gunfight between Gunner's and Mutant's, so I hung around to eliminate the winner's, when the gun fight finished I witnessed the distortion you see when stealth is used so I opened fire on it. It turned out to be a Gunner's Colonel, not sure if it was a glitch or he was using a Stealth Boy, really impressed if he was, they definately seem the better faction.

Yeah, that's seems to be the only way. Thing is it's a bit of a pain when you run into Sentry Bots in small areas, because it seems that walls don't act as barriers from the blast.
At least you have a chance, the one's I hate are Mole rat suiciders. Every time I have to clear the Satelite array in the North, where there are some Mole Rats outside, I encounter a suicider. As it's underground you cannot shoot it, it detonates as it appears under your feet - even when standing on a rocky outcrop - horrible things.
Man, I never thought anything of it when everyone was talking about Diamond City towards the beginning of the game. I just thought it was the jewel of the Commonwealth. I mean it's pretty much in the center of the map and it's Boston, the largest city in the area. But when I finally decided to go to Diamond City, it was awesome to see that it was Fenway Park with Pesky's Pole, the Triangle, the pennants, the bases, and especially the Green Monster still fully intact. I didn't even realize it was Fenway until I reached the Green Monster with that old guy constantly painting it. Job well done by Bethesda.
Okay, I know that it was a terrible webcomic, but at least I now understand Ctrl + Alt + Del's jokes about getting lost in Fallout. I was watching an episode of "Top Gear" last night, where Clarkson, Hammond and May were road-testing hot hatches and had to make them run out of fuel before they wound up stuck in Chernobyl. There's a shot of the inspecting the abandoned fairground in Pripyat, and I found myself wondering how much metal and plastic I would get out of it.
Which reminds me - I really should go and check out the reactor site in the Glowing Sea.

That's nothing, I got really excited the other day when I saw a bobblehead on TV, then I got excited again when I saw some comic books later on in a separate program.

Hope you realise you're falling into the trap. Governments have backed Bethesda to teach us that reading comics is beneficial and not to keep us ignorant of their plans and also to make us think unconciously about re-cycling.

Thanks. And just so I'm clear, in order to trim the video I need the share factory app which I'm guessing has to be downloaded? What does the quality come out like? Can you put in a voice over using the controller's mic?
I just use VATS for that, too. If it's a difficult shot, expend a critical shot for a guaranteed hit.

True. I didn't get time to do it tonight as I heard about where to get a full suit of X-01 armour which I did.
Just West of Custom House Tower in Boston, or just North up the street from Shamrock Tap House, you find an unmarked location called Court 35. Head inside, take the elevator up to the roof where you'll do battle with both a Sentry Bot and Assaultron at the same time. Destroy them then press the two buttons, one in each control panel on either side of the area and it opens the armour doors. Like most, it's level dependant, I read you've got to be at least level 30 or something, I was level 51.
After that I went to fight a level 50 Behemoth I'd encountered earlier in the game but figured I was too weak to fight at the time. And since I'd never fought one I wanted to give it a go. The five Deathclaws around it weren't too happy when they met me either.
After that I travelled just South to check out the Glowing Sea for the first time (all on foot, no power armour or rad resist other than the 15 on my chest piece), though I was probably only on the edge. There I fought some Radscorpions and a pack of Molerats (including a Legendary Brood Mother). Now I'm not sure how a Molerat carries an Institute Rifle or how it got one, but I got a two-shot one off it! (You know, two shots, one round expended, just like Overseer's Guardian) Not yet sure, but it will probably eventually replace my Instigating Laser Rifle (does double damage to targets with full health), both weapons have upsides.

If that was all the government was up to I could breathe easy. Besides, aint nobody got time to read comics, I'm too busy playing Fallout! I'll just wait until they make a movie of the comic.
I recently got that set of power armour as well, it was all X-01 mk111. I now have a gallery of 39.
Been interested in your posts about getting images from PS4 to this thread, would like to post an image of it, I'm completely ignorant of this technology and have not a clue.
There's some building work going on round the corner with a red container outside the site. Our 12-year-old immediately got his friend to take a photo of him fulton-extracting it with his school rucksack. Good thinking.
Around 105 hours into the game. Level 39. I own 21 settlements.
I have noticed an issue with the accuracy with some of my guns. At times they will miss 5 or 6 shots in a row in vats using some of the sniper rifles. So last night I decided to unlock the gun nut 3 perk and greatly upgrade all my guns at the cost of adding weight. Here is one of my favorite guns. I have doubled the accuracy and the range. So hopefully this will help with some of the missed shots. It started as a simple Combat rifle. The .45 ammo pops heads off in almost every battle. The 25% less AP helps for many multiple shots in a row.

I also did not realize that until this weekend. I never paid any attention much at all to Diamond city other than picking up Piper. That place really is amazing to look at. I even took my first elevator ride up with, by pure irony, Piper wearing a baseball outfit.

If you just want to trim a video you don't need share factory. The quality it comes out at is 720P, here is an example video (make sure you set it to 720p) watch?v=WDUVRxvkaKI(didn't want video to show since its a different game) To do this I just used the trim option you get before you upload it.
Had no luck Googling this and would prefer to avoid the Steam forums and whatnot for now, so hopefully one of you guys can help...I'm fairly early in the game, have set up settlement in Sanctuary, Tenpines, the place where you set a beacon which I forget (just a bunch of huts and a few feral ghouls there to clean up, and a stoner-esque Mr Handy) and cleared Corvega, the water treatment plant and a few smaller missions/places. Stumbled across a little prefab container thing with a placid Eyebot outside, and inside after hacking a terminal and opening a door, there's a corpse, a couple of goodies and a broken/deactivated Mr Gutsy.
So my question is simply is there anyway of firing up the Mr Gutsy to be a companion? I'm thinking not, but would be cool if I could. I tried putting a milatary grade circuitboard in that I got from the Eyebot (as an aside does it do any harm to destroy these if they are alone?) but nothing happened. Did have some nice loot inside it at least.
