Oh, and about settlements, anyone find it annoying how you can't scrap/move skeletons in the workshop? You won't believe how many times I've had to build around them at Starlight Drive-in. :banghead:

Yeah, there's still ash piles at the Castle settlement in my playthrough...

I'm assuming you're on consoles, yes?

I'm only at Charisma 3 and I need Charisma 5 or 6, going to take me a little bit.
It's worth sinking points into the base SPECIAL stats. Later perks become more effective the stronger the base stat.

I started out with two points in Luck, and invested my early points into the ammo and caps discovery perks. Then I boosted everything (except Luck) to six or seven stars. Then I invested in health and damage resistance, before turning my attention to weapons and armour crafting. The next step is lock-picking and hacking.

I got a message to go and defend Murkwater tonight, and to my absolute delight I fought a Legendary Gunner who gave me an Incendiary Gauss Rifle! Now I've never used a Gauss Rifle, this is actually my first one. I was wondering if anyone knows whether shots in VATS are fully charged? And the damage rating of the gun, is that a regular shot or a fully charged one? I've still yet to use it actually, what I'm going to do is next level up, get the rank 4 gun nut perk so I can max out its mods, then swap out my Freezing Sniper Rifle for it. The old Freezing Sniper Rifle was damn good to me, but with my regular guns being so incredibly powerful now, plus the Maccready Killshot Perk giving me a 95% chance to headshot everything in VATS I really don't need it any more.
I also decided to stick with my Instigating Laser Rifle over the Two-Shot Insitute Rifle I mentioned the other day. With it's ability to inflict double damage to targets at full health, in combination with the Killshot perk, I can take a LOT of enemies out with one shot now. I also renamed it "Starfleet Prototype".

I've been using Strong lately as I just got him today, and I feel his AI is somewhat lacking. He can't figure out how to navigate the world very well, I often lose him, and sometimes I'll tell him to attack something and he'll just stand there beating his chest before doing nothing.:odd: Other than that, he's really funny and if he does get in the fight, he's pretty useful with a Super Sledge.

Also, does armour on companions actually make a difference to how much damage they can take? Eventually once I'm done getting max affinity with most of the other companions I think I'll go back to Piper since she likes everything I do and is pretty hot. Figure I'll give her a Ballistic Weave dress or something.

I did notice that Piper seemed a little bit more durable when wearing armour compared to her street clothes.

Just be careful - they're a lot of fun, but use fusion cores for ammunition, and if you rely on charged shots, they become very inefficient. I would be inclined to save it for the likes of behemoths and mirelurk queens, and anything else with a habit of causing you trouble.

So, apparently you can only have 16 people in a settlement.

Which means you don't make more than 50 caps for having all 6 tier 3 stores?

At least I still get 670 water bottles.

You can have 10 plus a number equal to your points in charisma. So with maxed out charisma you can have a total of 20 in any one settlement...
Most of mine currently have between 16 and 18.

Ah... So I suppose I should work on that next.

Got intelligence maxed and all of the storestuff done... Might do gunnut first though. The extra dmg will be helpful.

You can have 21, 10 plus 10 charisma and the bobblehead if you get it when at maximum.
But saying that this does glitch sometimes, some have trouble keeping people or getting them, or you can in some cases have more, like myself who has 35 at Hangmans Alley - one of the smallest places you get, though most of the settlements stick to the formula.

Just had my first radiation storm for the first time since I've started playing on launch day. I love how it arrives and fades away slowly, leaving behind a small drizzle. 10/10 would observe again.

I think you're thinking of a Gatling Laser? The Gauss Rifle fires the electro-magnetic 2mm rounds. Rare, but then I wouldn't use it much, plus I have the caps to buy more.

Anyone else find it annoying that the Legendaries in this game don't give you a weapon instead of an armor piece? I'm overflowing with armor pieces... Well, at least they provide those caps.

Yeah I only use my Gauss Rifle against high-level enemies, like the Mirelurk Queen.

Bought a sound bar today.

The sound of a mole rat burrowing out of the earth is now completely terrifying.

You will. The Glowing Sea is in a perpetual radstorm.

That sound still gets to me. Radscorpions also burrow out of the earth so they make the same sound. Funny enough Mirelurks don't make the same burrowing sound. Probably because the earth they burrow out of is weak, considering their living preference.

Apologies for being off topic here, my neighbour has a Bose sound bar which is superb, but as I'm not very good with technology, can these be connected to a PS4 ?
As for Mole Rats, the Suicider ones are horrible (I have been killed three times by these) as you hear the sound but cannot do anything as their underground - the very thought of this sound being improved is nightmarish but would like to try it.

I have a Samsung one (my television is also a Samsung) with a wireless subwoofer. It works just fine, though I did have to fiddle around with the treble and bass a bit.

Radscorpions are the most terrifying things in the game. It's just that they are so large, and just pop up behind you, and I waste so much ammo on them.

But the most terrifying was when I scoped up on one with my Rifle in the Glowing Sea, and it went underground and just popped up right behind me.

Just yesterday they took one of my settlers from the Drive-In. Sad day in the Commonwealth.

I've now been getting the settlement glitch a lot lately as well, Sanctuary keeps saying 16 people instead of 19 and the resources aren't there so everyone's getting unhappy. The annoying problem is that happiness seems to drop much faster than it rises. I know before it was glitching the happiness was in the mid-80s, now it's always 60's-low 70's.
Another settlement glitch I just noticed is settlers continuously taking more and more guns from the workshop. I spoke to Sturgess yesterday and he had 17 combat rifles and 5 short combat rifles! The 🤬?! I'm going to have to go around to every settler and get all my guns back and start putting them in a steamer trunk. I was already putting my good stuff and any Legendary items in seperate metal boxes. Very annoying.

I also had a Super Mutant attack on Sanctuary for the first time since building the perimeter fence. A couple spawned inside and the rest were taken care of outside. However the framerate (on PS4) was incredibly real until every last enemy was killed. I could barely run around it was so bad.:odd:

That's something I didn't know could happen.
I have a steamer trunk near to where Trashcan Carla stops in Sanctuary, so I put all unwanted items here so when she appears I can quickly grab it and sell it.

I haven't done anything with them yet, don't know whether I'll be scrapping them, selling them or giving the more powerful stuff to settlers.

Alright, I have been playing around with mine and it's worth investing in. Mine came with a cable that connects directly to the back of my XOne, so if you have an optical cable port in your PS4, then the Samsung models should be compatible. They can be a little pricey - mine was around AUD $250 (down from AUD $400 as part of a post-Christmas sale) - but they bring excellent sound quality. Put it this way: there's a junk gate just outside the Cambridge Police Station. When you open it, the sound bar lets you hear everything - the creak of the hinges, the individual sound of each gate hitting the wall when it is fully open, the rattle of the chain just afterwards; everything. When there is fighting nearby, you can hear the relative distances; some shots will be louder or softer depending on how far away you are.

Damn, I hadn't realised that happened... going to have to do a tour of the camps later and break some knees :(

Thank you. My neighbour is away so cannot ask him or try it, he has shown how he plays music via his phone etc wirelessly ( he initially got it for the beach ) but it never occured connecting a console, I had a sound sustem on the PS2 and the difference was immense, so definately envy you right now.

Anyone have good idea's dealing with Mole Rats ?, I just came across some while hearing some shooting, I took a long range shot, a good 100 metres or so at a Glowing one and instantly they had tunnelled behind and right next to me, not even having time to switch to melee weapon, I reckon they must break the sound barrier while tunneling they're that fast.

The 10mm Auto Pistol works well. Depending on your AP, you can get off an entire clip by the time you use up the available points - and mole rats only need a bullet or two to kill them.

So, I'm pretty sure that I just met ...
... A synth of Preston Garvey.

I stumbled into a group of super mutants, feral ghouls and gunners who were having it out when Preston wandered in. I thought it was odd because I had instructed him to stay at Sanctuary. But when I spoke to him, he claimed that it was our first meeting and his voice was wrong ...

I use an explosive 10mm silenced pistol and it does make short work of them, it's situations like recently where I shot a Glowing one and they were at me before I could fire a second shot, so I had six Glowing Mole Rats cover 100 metres before you can fire two shots, and as they always attack from behind it's amazing how quickly health disappears before you can engage them.
But I might have found a solution, I came across a Sentry Bot in a scrap yard when it detonated I had bits of Mole Rat falling out the sky, I didn't know they were even there, the explosion killed them when they were underground, so the answer at the moment is to mini nuke them, bit of a waste though.
I met your 'spoiler' some time ago at the Revere Satelite array.
On my new character I quickly went through 28 days and the bodies of the Bloatflies and Radroaches have gone, so that's different straight away.

Your assumption is probably correct, there's videos on YouTube showing conversations with a Synth version of Preston, I've seen 2 Caravan Guards shooting at each other and one of them was a Synth. I could tell them apart by looking at their resistances with a certain VATS related perk.

Yeah I had an encounter like that but it wasn't a Synth Preston. When I fast traveled to Nahant's Sheriff Department I heard two people fending each other off. When I inched closer they were named exactly the same. I don't remember the exact name but they also looked the same too. Even using the same weapon! I was guessing that either of them was a Synth, but you couldn't guess. I chose to simply idle by and see how it'll play out. Eventually one of them died and when I searched them there wasn't any Synth component on the person. I killed the other guy and of course he had a Synth component.

I was only away from the settlements for about 20 minutes one time and the glitch happened. Happiness dropped from the mid 80's to 60's almost instantly. I've never got it to go back to its original point yet.

As for the guns, I've noticed that too and it's very annoying.

Mine didn't start glitching until the second I connected all of the towns with the supply routes from Local Leader I. I think it has something to do with that.

Has anybody else gotten the same minutemen town clearing mission twice? Preston gave me the same Tenpines Bluff/Clear Corvega mission from the beginning of the game.
