Mine didn't start glitching until the second I connected all of the towns with the supply routes from Local Leader I. I think it has something to do with that.

Has anybody else gotten the same minutemen town clearing mission twice? Preston gave me the same Tenpines Bluff/Clear Corvega mission from the beginning of the game.
Mine happened long before I even knew I could do that.

Argh, I HATE Outpost Zimonja. It's ridiculously small, and takes a hell of a lot to capture, since there's a Legendary Raider there, and worse, the local boss - Boomer - has a Fat Man and a half-finished power armour frame.

Also, has anyone visited the Boston Public Library?
I found two dozen super mutant corpses that had been take out by a pair of turrets and four protectrons.

Supposedly I have 4 settlers there but I can't find any of them. Not many places they could be hiding...

I think there's an associated quest. You have to go to Goodneighbor and talk to Daisy.

Was just there returning a book for Daisy, though they were still running around. I entered via the side entrance and not through Copley Station, and as I went in a few steps I had several Mutants suddenly appear right next to me, I can only assume they came through the same door, turned into a hell of a fire fight, didn't help when the Turrets and Protectrons fought they'd join in. There are trip wires at both of these entrances.

Yup, I've had Corvega, Bedford Station, USAF satelite station Olivia and Wicked shipping many, many times. You also get rescue quests to the same location and other factions also sending you to the same locations.

With a rather easy intelligence check you can get the turrets and protectrons on your side.
12345 I think? Mister Mayor indeed.

So, I just did "Long Time Coming" with Nick. I didn't realise that Nick stopped being your companion once you collected the final tape, and the last one I got was at the station near Boston Airport. We then took the most ridiculously convoluted route to get to the bunker (with Nick telling me about his impatience and enthusiasm all the while), which took so long that two entire game days passed. Meanwhile, Nick felt the need to fight EVERY LAST SUPER MUTANT HE SAW - at one point there I was taking on three suiciders at once - and then decided to take on some Deathclaws for good measure. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to fight two Deathclaws at once without losing sight of your companion?

As much as I like Nick, I was glad to be shot of him.

Converted one of my sniper guns from .38 to a .50 and whoa this thing just destroys people. Even on Very hard there are quite a few times I can 1 hit kill an enemy and send their bodies into an explosion of gore. :)

Is it just me, or is Paladin Danse the cheapest date ever? I get into power armour - [Danse liked that]. Five minutes later, I get out of the armour to make a mod for my rifle, then get back in - [Danse liked that].

I have done all companions now except X6-88, do you think I can find him. I have sided with the Institute and still cannot find him. Wonder if the Institute can make me another one.
I converted the Overseer's weapon to armour piercing, with silencer and scope, and with the Penetrator perk I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for the BoS.

I am currently having an issue where I am running out of missions. When I return to Preston, he gives the same missions over and over again.

There's only a finite number of missions in the game.
I probably should have completed as many side missions with the factions as possible before completing the end of the campaign. I didn't even realize I was even that close to completing the main storyline until it was over. I guess for now I will keep trying to explore the wasteland. I want to at least get to level 50 with this character then start another character. Then make opposite decisions from my first character.

It's not just the Minutemen either. The BoS and Institute keep giving repeat quests.

Is there a downside to shooting down BoS Vertibirds?

I'm playing a stealth/sniper role and find that my very long range weapon can quickly take one down for the XPs.

So far, nobody has become annoyed with me or come after me with weaponry. A group of BoS people chatted quite civilly, so I guess the BoS has yet to identify the cause of the loss of their aircraft.

I'm not one for using big guns but having just found a Legendary Explosive Minigun things might change.
I also do not use big guns very often but I had a legendary rocket launcher that auto locks and does 3x damage or something like that. I have used that a few times even just for fun.

I absolutely love getting "clear out new settlement" missions. I recently just finished one at a lighthouse and needless to say, the entire process including the building lasted me three days worth of gaming.

With Fallout 4 each new place I go to is an adventure all in itself, and is a feat that only accomplished with this game IMO.

I generally like those too but I am at the point where I am getting repeated missions back to the exact same place over and over again. I guess that is to be expected since I own 24 settlements.

I just wander around aimlessly in the wasteland hoping to meet new people while finding new locations. I might even just throw some power armor on and wander around the Glowing sea to see what I can find.

How many settlements can you actually own? I am somewhere in the high teens.

Ahh.. the Glowing Sea. I plan on wandering around that place when I don't much left to do. I don't look at guides or anything but I am pretty sure there is something out there worth looking for.

I honestly have no idea. It is crazy enough trying to manage 24 settlements. 2 of them I am not actually even able to place food or a recruitment beacon. I can send people there, but they can not get any food. So those really don't get any action.

I might not do that mission for a while. I like Nick. I might try Paladin Danse though, just because he's a tank.

I suspect Bethesda knew about the screwy AI for Brahmin for a while and couldn't fix it. Next time you encounter Doc Weathers, go into VATS and check out his Brahmin.
His name is "Idiot".
I also like Cricket (she's hilarious) and her Brahmin, Spot.

I might not do that mission for a while.
There's a holotape in a police station in South Boston. Make sure you get that one last, because it is quite literally a hundred metres from the final destination for the quest. I suspect that the problem in my case was that Nick was taking a route free of obstructions. We could have gone directly from the East Boston PD, but it would have meant navigating the East End of Boston, that's full of debris.

I just now finally got that Lighthouse mission!! Finally something NEW from the MM. I guess I have never been there yet. Looking forward to checking that area out the next time I play.

I've been playing around with the settlements (or as I like to think of it, Sim City Apocalypse) because I was getting bored with square shapes, flat walls and roofs, and I have made some pretty nifty buildings. Especially at Jamaica Plain as I tried to build around the cramped space.

Just recently started a new character, initially I refused to get involved with the Minutemen. I just went walk about and opened some settlements by myself, I just left them and built when ever I felt like it, no attacks and quite peacefull.
I then said I'll help and Preston straight away told me to investigate Nordhagen and let him know when I'm ready to assault the Castle, I'm only level 7, wish I hadn't asked now.

I take it you are talking about the Prydwen and the Airport (Brotherhood of Steel).

It's by far one of my favorites and you will see why when you tackle it. I have big plans for that settlement down the road.

I have actually never built a building from scratch and I always do the following.
  • Scrap everything I can.
  • Surround the area with a perimeter fence.
  • Make one access point (tunnel style) into the settlement and heavily defend it with automated turrets. Think Aliens, Colonial Marine style.
  • Place recruitment beacon and generator.
  • Place enough resources and beds for 10 people.
  • Add to existing structures where required.
  • Periodically check in.
The settlement feature is a game within a game to me.

From what I remember reading, I believe enemies just spawn within your settlements. It's probably a better bet to put the turrets closer to your important bits.
