Yesterday I pre-ordered the collectors edition for pc. Not sure how much value there is in the extra junk that you get in these packs. My copy also seems to come with the "classic pack". From what I can tell, each retail chain will offer different packs although honestly, It's not really much of an incentive considering the clothing and weapons are usually the first things I change in these types of games.

Now I just have to finish 3 more of the DLC's in FO3 before mid October :lol:

Was in Game today - they have the ability to pre-order the special edition...

This game should be good - although I may not get round to playing much as it's release coincides pretty closely with some other game I want!?!?

This is amongst my top 3 games I can't wait to get, along with GT5 and Dead Space 2.
It may use the same game engine as Fallout 3, but I'm confident Obsidian can deliver a relatively bug-free game compared to it's predecessor.
Loved Fallout 3 despite it's problems, I'm sure this one will be just as good, and with all the improvements in the gameplay (they are adding some traditional FPS mechanics to the shooting - iron sights etc.), it may even be better.

LOL!!! There goes my social life. I've been up to my neck with Demon's souls these past 2 weeks, and New Vegas is out next week. After that, GT5. Oh man, too many good games!

Personally i played the PC version of Fallout 3 first and LOVEEEDDDD it. As soon as GOTY edition for the PS3 was released i immersed myself once more in the Capital Wasteland. Even with the bugs, it never really detracted me from enjoying the game.

Does this one tie into 3 at all?

I never played Fallout 3, I dont want to be totally lost in the story.

Nope. Brand new story with different characters and location so you should be fine as a new comer to the series.

I did read something about you having companions you can give orders to. I hope this isn't going to be a team-based game where you have to do missions alongside other NPCs?
Sort of like a free-roaming COD? That kinda puts me off int a BIG way. No offence, but one of the reasons I loved Oblivion and Fallout 3 was because it was just you, the gameworld, and your own choices that you make.

I've been listening to the Bethesda podcast and the developers have been hinting on quest lines for your companions. I think you also get more control over them with a wheel that has orders but I don't think it's meant to be squad based. I think it will mostly remain fairly similar to Fallout 3 but with slightly more involvement if you choose.

The Vault says these orders will be available:

* Toggle melee/ranged fighting
* Open inventory - This displays the companion's current inventory, inventory weight, and weight limit.
* Toggle stay close/keep distance.
* Back up.
* Toggle aggressive/passive AI.
* Use stimpak.
* Toggle wait here/follow me.
* Return to normal dialogue

Having more control over them can be nothing but great. Having a follower in FO3 was only good if they could carry a lot otherwise they were dumb as hell.

Now i'm gonna get this game :D , now that i have actually time to play it ....

i never played Fallout 3 so, after hearing good things about the franchise i may end up purchasing Fallout: New Vegas

Have improved my delivery options on this one now that GT5 is delayed...

Even worse - I'll prolly be out of the country now when GT5 is released - so won't be able to play it until late December now.

Not sure I'll do that - but I think I will replay on Hardcore after I've played it out... time dependant of course!!

I think I might start out with it activated(hardcore mode). This way it's weaved into this new fallout experience right from the get go. Two days now.:scared:

With fps aspects being improved for NV, who here will being playing it more so as such?. I still feel VATS is integral to the turn based fallout experience. I use it even when out of AP; just to scan the combat situation.

This is out in 3 days for me. Should be grand but I could only play Fallout 3 with the help of a 300 page book :lol:. I'll see how I go with New Vegas.

I got a text earlier from gamestop informing me that this game will be available at 12:01 am. I know what I'm doing tonight! :)

Well I've already got it pre-loaded on Steam. Can't wait to get started in 10 hours. I got the caravaner pack with Steam, so I'm gonna start hardcore mode right away. I'll go back to normal if I break all my weapons and starve to death before the first quest ends. :lol:

I've been listening to 40s music and rockabilly all week so I'm totally pumped for this thing to unlock already.

Curse you guys and your two days earlier release date. :p I just got a phone call from ebgames and my collector’s edition will be ready for pick up early in the morning. I haven’t been this excited about a game since GT4. Goodbye social life… oh wait, I said goodbye to that when I had kids :lol:

If you manage to get the street date broken can you post ITT so I can bug my local EB please? It's out thursday according to them.

Why are you waiting for EB? Just download it on Steam. If you do it within the next 2 hours you can get the caravan pack. Just download it overnight and play in the morning.
