Fanatec and Forza5

I certainly will not buy the new XBOX One when it does not support my Fanatec Wheel (CSR Elite). Of course I am willing to buy some kind of adapter or even send it back to the factory for some hardware changes.

But I think that Microsoft has to find a solution for that problem. They already have enough problems with their new XBOX after the E3 presentation. They simply dont need another battlefield. But I did see a new Thrustmaster wheel in some Forza 5 videos from E3. Maybe they want to switch the wheel company.

Anyway: I will buy my copy of GT6 and play it on my PS3 with my CSR Elite. Because I know for sure that this will work - even when the game is not as good as Forza 5.

I think MS will do there best on working with Thomas on a solution...My gut feeling is that they will work with Fanatec to keep Fanatec consumers happy and also offer a "cheaper" sollution with the Thrustmaster offerings..Since there MS wheel will not work with the Xbox One
 
M$ should abandon the XID protocol, and go HID, like PC and PS. That would allow us to use any USB compatible wheel with the Xbox One. Thrustmaster can still design and sell the official Forza 5 wheel and it will likely sell very well.

Well, the benefit would be more satisfied and loyal customers. But Microsoft hasn't seemed to put a large value on those things in the past, so you're basically right.

Sounds promising......But what I read into it is "But we cannot confirm that before the final consoles are released" means that until they can get there hands on one they cannot find away for there wheels to work with Xbox One....So it might be a few months after release before our wheels will work on the new Xbox
 
question because i'm curious and actually have no idea. How many wheels were around when PGR3/FM2 came out?

UNCONFIRMED UPDATE: On October 2nd 2013, Dan Greenawalt of T10 Studios officially confirmed that Forza Motorsport 5 will be compatible with ALL Fanatec wheels with XID compatibility. "We're proud to support all the wheels that the previous three iterations of Forza have supported" Dan stated in a telephone interview with a German gaming site.
 
man, if anything posted on the internet ever really needed a confirmation, it would be this. link to the forum or wiki page at least? (I didn't see anything on the official forums nor on forzacentral)
 
It's not Forza that will have compatibility issues, but the Xbox One. The wording of this quote makes me doubt it's validity.

I find that one hard to swallow as well, as mentioned above it is the XBox One that has been stated to have an issue and neither MS nor Fanatec have made any mention of the wheels being compatible as of yet.

Forza is not really a factor here and I doubt they would make such an announcement. Threads related to Fanatec compatibility have been closed on the official Forza site and users threatened with being banned for starting them so...
 
This news just made me go from day 1 buyer to skipping the XO entirely.

Real blunder and real shame... MS had to see that having open wheel support brings you MORE consumers and profits than locking out current wheels and keeping it locked to new wheels entirely.
 
Lordy they talk a lot of rubbish. So they've ditched XID for something that's still proprietary, but sounds pretty much like HID to me. Talking about their fancy new wheel and pedal features, where it's stuff that's been appearing on Fanatec and other wheels for years.

I suspect X1 will be a bit like X360 for me. I waited for my DFGT to die before I bought a Fanatec. Now I'll wait for my Fanatec to die before I buy an X1 wheel, if they work with PC and PS3/4 and they're reasonably priced.

They're really putting a lot of gates in front of racing sim fans to try and turn them away. I don't see why they didn't just say "screw it, HID, job done". All the money that they'll make from licensing wheels they'd have probably saved not doing the R&D for all this bollocks.

I imagine Fanatec are pissed at Microsoft for this as well. They want to sell a product that provides value, and Microsoft has pretty much made half their line-up pointless starting from November. They have to redevelop now, which could be easy or hard.

Not to mention the misdirected rage from customers they're likely to get. Yes, if I was Fanatec I would be very annoyed at MS.
 
That really blows. I feel bad for people including a friend of mine that just splurged for the new Fanatec wheel.
 
I don't know why people are cancelling pre-orders. I know what I'll do, if the wheels don't work then I'll sell my xbox one marked up. Take the extra cash and invest it in my PC racing set up and somewhere down the line pick up the xbox one for regular gaming (sports, FPS etc.)
 
This is old news...it has been said since the Xbone was announced that ALL of our 360 accesories wont work.....But I would think that MS would at least give Thomas a Xbone to play with to get some of the stuff right...IMO

They probably did, but it didn't suit "his vision of how his wheels should work on the consoles". This left him with little time to come up with a next-gen product. He left plenty of hints that he knew the situation in his last blog post, and what the future holds mixed in with some upset words along with a few straw for previous customers to grasp.

There will be a fanatec xbox1 wheel before 2014/15 is up, mark my words. They are slow out the gate with everything, but they get there eventually.

If I was Fanatec I would say "well it's been nice knowing you Microsoft".

I think Fanatec would do just fine making wheels for PC and Playstation owners.
