True, but SRT do have the wheel in their studio so why not ;)

CSW is still in production prototype mode and is in the hands of beta testers to find any and qwirks and problems.

With that said the CSW will likely not see a release this year. Thomas is on record that the CSR Elite will see production first and they're targeting a November production run with units hopefully shipping in late December.

As for preorders, again.....you'll need to be patient. Fanatec has changed their preorder policy from what they used to do. The new policy is that preordering will not be opened until the units are "swimming" as Thomas put it. I wouldn't expect preorders for the Elite to start until sometime in mid November at the earliest.

Just keep visiting the www.911wheel.de blog. Thomas always posts anytime he has anything remotely considered news on Fanatec products.

Hey sym, if you are in the US or Canada, and DO NOT have your tracking info, let me know. I can contact the warehouse directly, and got you your tracking info by days end likely. If not, monday @ latest, but today is very likely.

Anthony

If you do have it, disregard this message.

I got the tracking. I want the package :-P. I am a little impatient I guess.

HAHA,, I was the same way, maybe even a bit worse. No worries, enjoy. Since you are going via USPS, you are likely in Canada. If so, give it time to get through customs. You WILL get it.

It's not shipped yet. They only sent the electronic info to USPS.

So I asked Thomas (Fanatec) about beta testing for the CSR Elite. He had an interesting idea whereas we gather 10 volunteers that would like to write a review. The community will then vote who they feel would be the best person to do the review.

What do you guys think? Do we have any volunteers? I'd of course like to nominate myself :sly:

After we get the volunteers I'll go create the poll

As a resume I would like to enter something Thomas approved of already: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=228495

Now please vote me, if you'd like to see another review from my hands ^_^'
Of course I won't be sad if another guy wants to review the CSR Elite.

ps. Thomas if this means I can't test the CSW, I'd rather test the CSW then the CSR Elite. ;)
Also I've already made an account on the site of your blog, which I noticed one needs to do first. Just waiting for activation.

At number 1, I'd like to nominate myself. I like to think that I offer clear, detailed opinions and contribute what I can here. I'm technically savvy and I think I can do a good job distinguishing differences in technologies used in various products. I've owned several wheels over the years, with extensive experience using the Logitech Driving Force Pro, Logitech G25, Fanatec PWTS, Fanatec GT2, Fanatec ClubSport Pedals, and some experience using the Fanatec PWC.

I have an older spec, but still very capable Windows 7 64-bit PC (Core 2 Quad 3.2GHz, GTX 560ti, 8GB RAM) with the following titles: Dirt 2, NFS Shift 1 & 2, F1 2011, R-Factor, GTR 2, Race 07, Richard Burns Rally, and RSRBR 2011.

I own both an Xbox 360 and PS3 with the following titles: Forza 3 & 4, PGR 3 & 4, GT5 Prologue, and GT5. I also own Burnout Revenge and Burnout Paradise, but those aren't well-suited to wheels.

Finally, I have a sturdy tripod, a 720p camera, and video editing software.

Enough with the self-serving sales pitch. I'd also like to see Delphic Reason, Sonac, and LogiForce offer their services. Caz seems to know his stuff and takes his racing seriously. If any knowledgeable T500 RS owners/reviewers want to step up, I'd love to hear their thoughts too.

Thanks again. I will do my best in the future as well.
As long as nobody thinks I want to have all the good stuff for myself. ;)
Others should get a chance to have a hands on as well with the new stuff.

I want to say and add one thing though. Beta testing is different from reviewing a finished product.
A beta test involves looking for flaws in the product. If a flow is found you should have a high ability to diagnose it an find the source of the problem as good and quickly as possible so the team at Fanatec can resolve it ASAP. Also you of course need to be able to explain everything to Fanatec as detailed and precise as you can.
I think my review could act as a good reference to people in how detailed Thomas would like you to be towards them.

At least this is how I see beta testing and think it should be done.

Edit:

I want to add my background as well.
I am 25 years of age and live in The Netherlands.
I've been loving technology/computers as long as I can remember. Therefor my parents helped me into the IT direction since a very young age. I've grown up building my own PCs while playing all sorts of games. Starting from my first race game Hard Drivin on the Amiga 2000 I've grown up seeing the entire games industry grow up into a fine adult producing the very realistic games to date. And of course played most of them in the years.
I've gone through school learning my IT skills. Worked at my ISP's technical support where I supported all their services including experimental ones. After that I worked at a big necktie IT company which was too much business and too little tech for my liking.
Now due to some medical circumstances I am at home.
In all of my tech years I supported also an online game called Galaxis Online. I always did the alpha and beta testing for it as also for other project of the maker of that game. Also I help my friend in IT school to debug and test his programs from time to time. Which are either firmware or normal software.
I also did help in debugging the code for the above projects and write a bit of code here and there as a small time amateur in that department.

So testing actual hardware like the CSr Elite or CSW will actually be a new frontier for me. And something I will enjoy more since I can use my brain to look for errors which I like to do the most. Or so I found out about myself over the years.

That's it about my background. Hoped you enjoyed the read.

And i´d nominate myself lol,

Games:

iRacing
NkPro

If i got a CSW home i would probably take a week or two from work and do nothing but play all day, everday :)

I know this might seem as a double post, which I don't do often. But this is a totally different Fanatec related topic then above.

Edit: nvm, hampus already posted I see. Lol

I wonder if we could see something like this for the ClubSport Wheel:
0906rc_10_z+1951_mercury_readers_rods+1948_cadillac_steering_wheel.jpg

An old style steering wheel with a steering column manual shifter behind it. I wonder if it would be technically possible.
At least it would certainly be very different from any other steering wheel out there. I mean they all have sequential shifters, H-shifters, paddle shifters... but no one has a steering column shifter. :)

I would love to do it..... Doubt I'll get the gig but worth a try...

Can test on ps3 and more importantly for this particular wheel the 360 so if you have a 360 guys I.suggest mentioning it seen as this is going to be a 360 wheel.

I understand some people don't like me but I think I can do a good job.

If this is done next week (the pole) please add my name even though I won't be online due to a holiday. It would be very unfair if you didn't.
And Logiforce you already are a beta tester I thought??

A bit about me

Name: Adam
Run a small website reviewing products for some of the manufacturers and I love all thinks sim racing.
I can test on PS3 and 360 and PC if required.. Even though I don't own a PC. I have all the latest driving games for PS3 and I will be buying forza 4 for 360 soon.
I play a lot and will do my best to find and describe all problems. I also have some experience reviewing hardware and software for an IT course I have completed.

I don't have any experience at beta testing but I don't think my review was too bad although some disagree and I respect that.
I have some experience reviewing products and I spend a lot if time gaming so if their are flaws I will find them. I am also very informative on this forum. Some people may dislike me but they cannot argue that I'm a good potential candidate for thus role.

I also have the 2nd highest post count in this thread and I have only been a member since July. This shows I am cimmited to this and fanatec. I also have some experience reviewing wheels hence the site and I have tried every single wheel on the market. I also spend a lot of time gaming so if their is a flaw I will find it. My grammar isn't bad although I am using a phone at this moment in time so I don't expect it to be great.

Anyway good luck guys :D

Can I actually use the new CSR Shifter set with my GT3 RS V2 wheel without any problems, or not?

I ask this because on their website fanatec says this:
"Backward compatible with Fanatec Porsche 911 wheels"

What do they mean with this? that I can run it as it should be or not?

Thanks,

I am, just got word from Thomas in which he confirmed he added me to the list of testers. I know it's for sure for the CSW, but I don't know about any other products.
I'll try to get back to him on it, since the CSW will still take a while before its ready for testing. Maybe I could test a different product like the CSR Elite before that.

Anyhow, confirmed beta tester for the CSW at least.

My name is Christiaan by the way, but keep calling me by my nick on here. It will be less confuse for people who don't know my name. ;)

Thanks,

Everything is compatible with each other as far as I know, every set of pedals with any wheel.

@amf7: I edited my last post a bit to include my name. Pleased to meet you Adem. Although I feel like I stole an opportunity from you this past week. So thanks for your kind words. I don't feel I deserve it do much as I just wrote down what came to mind. Maybe it's a undiscovered hidden talent of mine to write a nice review. I dunno. I just yap in my opinion. Lol

I don't feel like you stole anything LOL :) your review was good and you got some credit. My review I thought was good but I got flamed and got corrected every 5 seconds by people.

I haven't even read it yet. I will do so a bit later on in the day since I'll be busy for a moment here. I'll let you know what I think. ;)

I think Sonac should get a wheel to review. He will be more than capable and has done more to help inform others and promote Fanatec brand with his own fansite and posts on GTP than many others. He deserves one.

While interesting reading, I've not seen a review yet for CSR on GTP that has been done to the level of detail/depth personally I would like to goto. Particularly regarding the lack in photographs and in-depth comparison to other wheels.

A buyer/owners review is not compelled to show gratitude and put in lots of effort. However for me such a position in being an early "tester" is an honour and privilege that has benefits that should be repaid back. Producing a report that has a lot of effort and goes to great length to inform others of the product. I guess it comes down to the individuals passion and appreciation and their perception of the situation.

One thing that I would do for beta testing and I would like to do for future reviews that I hope to do is a daily report around a page long then absolutely nothing can be missed. I did think my review was in depth so sorry its not upto your standard Latte.
