I am going to give this a couple more weeks testing of my own before I jump to any conclusions, as Spaghetti says it could just be certain cars in the game that have this problem:tup:

I see I have already upset somebody (ilonioum) when I specifically said I didn't want to get into arguments with anybody.

I will say this, when I was using the DFGT I had no problems what so ever with any car combo, strange thing is I only used one hand on the wheel, the other was on the shifter as I didn't like the buttons for shifting. It may be a case of just getting used to a new product so as I said I am going to test further.

Here's a question for you guys. When in the wheel settings does it make any difference if I use the DFGT settings as opposed to G25/27? (wheel layouts)

It may make a.difference. before gt5 2.0 you could map the fanatec wheels with the dfpro settings, after 2.0 it changed to one of the g series. Sorry cant be more specific, brain is still coffee deprived this morning.

I am currently using G25 layout 1, when I get chance today I will try using the dfpro layout and see if there are any results:tup:

I just plugged it in and played although I had it before the patch :) I found the Csr so much better on GT5 in comparison to f1 2011.

Ps... Could Thomas check his pms please :)

I was under the impression that you couldn't choose: The device uses a particular profile, and it's up to you to figure out which. My Fanatec GT2 also uses G25 layout 1, and is attached to the left-most USB port on the front of my PS3.

Regarding your other comments, a question for you: Thomas posted recently on his blog http://www.911wheel.de/ with a video of the new 2012 BMW M5 being driven round Nurburgring GP in Forza 4 and in real life. The interesting point for me was how much steering lock the driver was using in various corners in real life.

I immediately stuck my Fanatec on 900 degrees mode and went for a drive in GT5's 2008 M5 (since it doesn't have the 2012 model). I was getting almost identical steering lock to what I saw on the video - as much as 90 degrees on moderate turns, etc... And my steering felt very linear, as if the front wheels were turning the same amount for each extra 10 degrees of lock I added.

In comparison, Forza 4 seems to be somehow less linear, as if the first 10-20 degrees of lock do more to turn the front wheels than adding more lock does afterwards (assuming the car was still gripping the road). I'm really not sure how to accurately describe what Forza does, so I think I'll do some more doublechecks this evening with the M5.

I'm very interested to know how you would compare behaviour in either game to the real life steering lock used in that video.

Don't ya love it when your phone goes crazy.. I just slammed Thomas the same email 3 times :s

Anyway I didn't see a need to customise the layout? So what needs changing?

Ebrake, lights, wipers, horn, look left/right etc. Just because the layout was good for you doesnt mean itz good for all. I think the only 2 buttons i left stock were ebrake and reverse. Then again that was the gt2. I have not laid my hands on any newer wheels yet.

Ok guys strange thing just happened

Was driving around Nurb GP/F and i clipped the grass trying to overtake which sent me off the track, my wheel is now full lock to the right and won't move, wish I could take a pic to show you guys but don't have the equipment. Any ideas on this?

Edit: Nice video Scazz,

For the moment I am putting my problems down to driver error, can anybody else confirm that has used both the CSR and DFGT that 900 deg is a different experience on both wheels. Looking at your video I must say it does look very accurate and could be my driving (no sly remarks please) I have been used to driving one handed for a long time with the DFGT and may not have realized just how much I was turning the wheel, I may just need to get used to 2 hands on the wheel and see how it goes.

This doesn't disguise my latest problem though

I have had that happen once as well.

My new problem is that on startup, the wheel makes an extremely loud noise, like the fan is grinding, and it takes a few seconds for it to stop and go back to the usual hum. I'm still running the original firmware as I can't get it to update.

UPS Guy came down my street, blood started pumping, and.......it was for my neighbor! Excitement is killing me.

Well guys, have done some more testing and for me the news isn't good

I have been using a GT300 car around laguna seca and found myself basically going lock to lock and crossing my arms on some corners, this can't be right surely.

Very depressing, I just find it un-drivable to the point that I can't race online because of the issues i'm having. I could understand going lock to lock if I was driving a tank, but this is a GT300 car. If the DFGT doesn't feel like this than surely I shouldn't experience this with my CSR.

Any ideas guys, in need of major help here?

So Fanatec still having widespread technical issues then. Has the tech support department improved at least?

They exchanged my faulty wheel for a faulty wheel... but it had different faults than the first. It only took 3 weeks and I had to produce a video... so, uh?

Yeah plato, im kind of lost at this poiny for ideas.

Fanatec best get on the ball with the cs shifter. The thrs8 is quite appealing and with the interface now working with it now its hard to hold out!

Sounds defective to me Plato.
Telemetry in Forza should show this up.
No need to drive just do it whilst still.

I am wanting others to test this and see if they have this issue, in your opinion should i need to be going almost lock to lock in a race car?

No way mate. What degrees do you use?

Edit try SENS set to off. This will use the games default value. That should be usable

See my edit about Sens off. Try that. If not I fear it's defective.

Any other titles you have for testing.
Have you linked to PC profiler to see exact inputs? That should highlight any problem.

Do you mean have I downloaded the driver?

There is a programme you can plug your wheels and pedals into.
You can veiw rotation, check buttons function, activate ABS motors etc.

I'm on iPhone.
Any guys here post up a link where he can download this?

Sounds like the driver I downloaded (115)

This is my first experience with a Fanatec wheel so please be gentle when I ask this :sly:

In the driver menu the default setting for wheel rotation is 400 degrees, is this right?

It was my understanding that the driver is only for PC sims only and doesn't effect consoles, is this right?
