My buddy actually initially made that video and sent it to me. We do forza a bit on the box. You have raced with him spagetti.

I'll admit, he obviously used some force to make it flex like that. BUT, no matter how much I do that to the GT2, it would NEVER do anything like that.

This goes back to my post on the previous page. Great base, amazing FFB and effects, but terrible rim overall. I'm sure that will change with the next run of Elite's. At least, I assume so.

Decided to order the CST-3R pedals, 6-8 week estimated production/delivery time, would be awesome if the ClubSport Wheel is ready by then as well.

I am looking at getting the very same set, I talked to Todd and he gave me the same timeline. They look awesome.

Just FYI....

From my experience racing real cars, Alcantara does NOT wear very well and will fade, wrinkle, and harden over time by using it with your bare hands. Alcantara on steering wheels works best with racing gloves as well. I know you might feel silly wearing gloves for a video game, but it will extend the life of the fabric and give you even better grip in the mean time.

Yeah, but not after a couple of days. I'm just afraid of the material coming undone.

I don't have my Elite yet but I do have a CSR and aside from the carbon fiber overlay they are the same rim. I just tried this "flex" test on my wheel and it takes a little more than "some" force to make it flex even close to that much and I think most people are aware of that looking at your friends vid with his clearly strained forearms and the fact even the base is moving on the rig in a substantial amount.

Why worry, you have a warranty. Any problems will be put right. My csp had a fault in there last week of cover. I emailed on the Monday they replied next day, sent part to me Wednesday, arrived Friday.... Parts installed Friday ;)

If the rim is junk and falls apart it's covered. I like the rim, if there was no BMW rim coming I would be happy with the Elite rim.

Can somebody else try this on their Elite for this guy to see if this is an anomaly. I don't have mine yet to compare but looking at this vid it almost seems like a thrust washer is missing or a set screw or something. It looks like the whole bearing is moving inside its locator hole on the support plate.

My CSR Elite (which arrived on Tuesday) is fine and does not do that. Doesn't make that noise either. It's solid with no play in any direction except of course when you use it normally and turn the wheel on it's axis. :)

Thanks for the info Bimmer, guess I'll have to shoot an email to support with the vids I made. I was really hoping to avoid it after my problems with support in the past but I want the wheel to be in perfect working order. Thanks again.

I wear gloves when racing. I like longer endurance races and I don't like how hot my hands get when I grip alcantara or leather. I found some decent pair of motorcross gloves. They have a bit of rubber on the middle and index finger which is great for paddles.

There has to be something wrong with the wheel. He's clearly applying quite a bit of pressure, but I don't think I could get any of the wheels here to do that amount of flexing. I would for sure say there is something else broken which is allowing it to seem like it's flexing.

For sure i would say that there is some sort of defective assembly here. This might be a quick fix though so maybe with an exploded view of the wheel (if Fanatec were to provide one and you were brave to open your chassis) maybe you could get some parts shipped to you to correct the issue.

hmm Jarhead?

Yep I had the better of him for 3 laps. On his arse but waiting for a clean overtake.
Wasn't going to happen so I threw myself on a turn at road Atlanta and lost the lot lol.

I digress however. That video reminds me of a time I took mushrooms. Some 20 odd years ago.

Ps. Any if you see me logged on playing kinect air band, fruit ninja etc. it's not me. It's my boy Alex off school hogging the xbox. I have no say in the matter. Lol.

Just tried to make a better vid of the movement I'm getting, had to get my 7 year old daughter to help. lol Hopefully you can see it this time. http://youtu.be/_TOAdTd5NcA

I took the rear cover and PCB off of my CSR Elite (really easy, by the way) to investigate the issue, and at first I thought one or both of the retaining clips around the steering column was missing. But I looked at the video again and it looks like the bearing is moving with the steering column. I'm not sure how the bearings are secured into place.

Aside: I also noticed the PCB has two unused 5 pin headers.

Can someone post a video of how to invert pedals using the pedal inversion kit. its rediculous that there is no instruction manual included with the kit.

Nevermind if found a video in german that got me started, i figured out the rest

You push the same button you used to get into the menu, the small one to the right of the screen. If I getting you right.

I can only second that.
I still use a Logitech DFP, but I only do it with gloves.
I have some motocross gloves, but prefer my OMP racing gloves (Schumachers Grand Prix 2004 model), which I got for a nice season price...nice soft feeling and at least some "reality feeling". Only prob: they are quite long and in summer it gets warmer than usual :)
As I tend to get sweaty hands in longer runs or rallying, there is no alternative to it and never "drive" barehanded. Rubber also uses faster off when barehanded using.

How I eagerly wait for the CSW with "real" alcantara rims to arrive?? A LOT 👍

Do any Elite owners have firmware 717 they can send me? Is it working okay? I want to update my firmware of my production Elite to enable ACL but figure if I have to carefully update it, might as well do it to the latest version (so long as it seems to be working well.) Only see 715 on Thomas' blog so far...

The firmware update worked for me on xp. however, i had to jump through all kinds of hoops to make sure i had the right version of web installer, then the virus protection turned off, then unzipping the file, what a pain. to top it off my computer wouldnt boot windows the next morning after the firmware update. i cant blame fanatec for that but needless to say i'm not very happy. fanatec needs a more user friendly bootloader prgram. off to bestbuy to talk to the geek squad

True. I've put some stress on my wheel and I'd really have to exert a lot of force to deform it like that. I do think the CSR Elite will make this more apparent. The steering system and internals are very stiff since the construction is entirely metal. It exposes the next weakest link, which is the steering wheel. The Porsche and standard CSR internals are constructed with a mix of plastic and a metal internal frame. There's more give throughout the system.

Lol you can see how much force he is putting on it. Look at his wrists and arms flexing and straining.

Dear Thomas I was just levering my wheel with a crowbar and it flexes WTF ?:dopey:

Exactly, people are just merely zeroing in on the one weak link they found with the wheel. But this is nothing new. Many months ago in this thread we already called this would happen with 100% certainty. CSW is the 'big brother'. It is Fanatec's most powerful weapon that isn't bound by the ridiculous constraints set forth by Microsoft. That formula rim has won the war against Thrustmaster's f1 integral the day we found out many of the buttons didn't work. I was so pissed. I was so sure they would work.

CSW is going to be brutally awesome in every way. It is truly a good reason to bypass Forza 4 (which isn't all that anyway the tracks feels so lifeless in comparison to iRacing I gotta keep it real). edit- For those that don't know- iRacing has laser scanned tracks so you feel every bump real racers do. Real professionals endorse iracing all the time for getting re-familiar with the tracks. you are missing out on so much FFB in these console games due to their laziness in this regard. Come holla at your boy in the iRacing section for more info*

All the more reason to wait for the CSW+GT rim.

Yeah but if you want fm 4 play you will go the csr-e route. You can't wait on the rim. But like you hint at here- if you really want the very best rims then it is best to bypass fm 4 and get the CSW for all the godlike features it brings to the table. I'm not saying anything new here tho cause we're established all this many months ago that CSW has the potential to be a serious game changer. Once the modders unlock it's full potential on the PC it's going to be amazing 👍

But let's be clear. It's going to be hella awesome out-of-the-box w/o mods

Scroll all the way down.

Yeah I frequent iRacing's forums, etc so I've seen that mod before. CSW will have a quick release, rev limiter, support for 111 buttons, built in LED, etc. It's simply sick. I'm already using the wheel base that will be on the CSW. I'm just swooning at the thought of the power the CSW has.

This sucks tho. The Thrustmaster fan in me is still amazed Thomas / Fanatec has pulled this off. Just a few months ago if you would've asked me what were the chances of a new wheel coming out shortly that could topple my T500RS I would've laughed! Oh well, I am simply just a hardcore fan of both Thrustmaster & Fanatec nowadays.

My only concern for Fanatec was really just the distribution and customer support. I think they are honestly trying to make a come back in these areas. I see Thomas actively supporting his products on iRacing forums and people seem much happier. Of course at GTP we still see the occasional unhappy customer. But T500RS also has it's occasional unhappy customer which always shocked the heck out of me cause I've never had an issue with their customer service the 3-4 times I contacted them

I don't think the console racers are not as good as PC racers due to laziness but rather limitations. A good comparison is take the Corvette C6R onto Road America in Forza 4 or at Sebring, then try the same in iRacing. There is no real comparison, one is very much arcadeish and the other is very much ... real.
