DD+ on PS5 pro

After some time spent mostly w GT7, FH5 & some F1, the FFB has definitely changed from 467, not in a good way

Some force related value or multiplier has changed. - suspension compression and release espescially is much more forceful and abrupt - when combine w steering input really feels off and harder to controll

Went back to 467 - and got stuck in an update loop. Back to 463 which fixed that and then up to 467 which is where I’m staying - my PVGT encoders and PBME buttons all work properly

Well next time I turned the base back on its stuck in update mode. Spent several hours trying various downgrade/upgrade steps. I can go back to 464 and earlier (2.4.X.x) or 468 and later (2.6.X.x) but NOT the 2.5.X.x FW I want - arrghh.

Something got set that wouldn’t let the update complete - but just for those versions so not somehting specifically failing on the HW just bad coding

The whole uninstall/reinstall/reboot/reflash is soooo tedious - would really love something that just handled FW directly - pick the version and install it

So stuck going forward - PBME finally fixed in 467 and PVGT broken in 468 then fixed in 474

Dang, that's a ride I wouldn't want to be a part of 😂

I'm relatively cosy staying on slightly older software, for now. My hopes on getting FF in GT7 anytime soon are slowly fizzing out :/

I would contact Fanatec support, this change you are reporting to the FFB should not exist either.

I’ve posted this in the Driver 474 thread. FFB needs a look. I’ve found dialing back FOR to 80 seems to bring it back in GT7 to what I recall, so I can live w that for now. Whether that helps other game can’t yet say

As to support not sure what if anything they might do - the base can clearly take updates both back and forward so HW seems OK and this is the first time I’ve EVEN had an issue w FW changes on this base

Otherwise seems RMA is the solution from them? Don’t really want to send it back if its just a code problem w specific FW and they’ll just send it back w the latest FW which I already have installed

And not sure I want to invest the time working their TS process - if they PM me I can send them the diags etc but from reading the forum they seem to have a number of people already sending their base back w the same issue - stuck in update mode after a FW flash - and that’s a different fix from the FFB they changed. Whether they’d bother to fix older FW is unlikely

A bit more on this w the latest Monza event I noticed the high speed oscilation is noticeably back

The Jag XJR9 is pretty bad unless I turn FOR down to 60 to mostly calm it - but too low for most uses so 70-80 is OK but not the total solution to whatever Fanatec did w 474

Has Fanatec acknowledged a difference or issue in FFB with 474?

No - only comment was that they did not intend to make any changes w that version. So too soon to tell if they have determined the difference

Whether the change came in 468 which is the first of the 2.6.X.x family can't say. That version broke the Porsche Vision GT rim encoders so I backed out if it and didn't run it enough to see

474 included that fix which I installed and verified the fix - that what's running now. There have been a few other comments about FFB changes but people may not notice right away depending on settings and sim used

I'm sure Fanatec's software engineers are doing their best but in the end of the day I hope Corsair realizes despite their best efforts, this is just not enough. This is a very poor experience even for unreleased/not final software.

They certainly face challenges - a major Fanatec selling point has been eco system. They are supporting and deploying software & firmware across 3 generations of wheel base tech (belt drive, dd gen 1 & 2) plus a bunch of wheels using 3 differnet FW architectures for 3 different platforms, so I sympathize - somewhat

But the SW base for developing and managing dates back 15 years (likely poorly documented) and during the transition they probably lost a number of experienced people w tribal knowledge. Their configuration management system seems not up to the task as new things break as others are fixed. Things are getting better I guess - the PVGT fix was quick to appear but other longstanding issues persist - some are dificult to isolate

Testing is still an issue so we users still get the call

Also a lot of time is going to this new all in one app so resources are still likely a challenge. And new products are rumored so more so

We’re a year or more away from any Fanatec software to be of final release quality IMO

As to Corsair have not seen much news - there is a new CEO so unclear to me how much of the strategy made by the former during the transition is still in play

As a long time Fanatec customer my advice to new users still stands:
1- try it FIRST out of the box BEFORE updating - if you are happy stick w it for a while to learn how it feels - latest is not always the best
2- read the forum comments and look for issues and fixes for your setup before updating
3- but do an update before the warranty runs out to make sure it can update - fortunately 2 years now

Just curious, do users with the DD Extreme wheels still feel the canned under steer rattle GT7 puts in? Because it's ridiculously over-pronounced on the Podium F1 wheelbase and lowering the FEI mutes the feedback and I don't like it.

I lowered FEI to zero on my wheelbase just to test and it's still there so it's not even related to the FFB effects and truly canned. Really wish it could be turned off it's not even realistic.

I hope everyone's still alive here. A month ago, I bought a DD+ and a Porsche VGT steering wheel. I tried all the settings I found on this forum and in this discussion thread, but nothing gives me a normal driving experience. I also noticed that I'm missing some details, like I had with the T598. I have the latest firmware, and maybe someone else is experimenting with the settings, because I haven't been able to drive properly for a month now.

If you tell me a specific car you want to drive, I'll give you some specific settings for it and you can take it from there.

I’m running these for a while now, courtesy of @PirovacBoy , on my DD+ and am pretty happy w it

SEN Auto
FFB 100
FUL 0 - someday hopefully
NDP 28
NFR 5
NIN off
INT 11
FEI 100
FOR 80 - this is for FW 474 change otherwise 100 if earlier
SPR 100
DPR 100

In game torque 5 sens 1

FFB changed in 474 (not supposed to according to Fanatec - but more breakage) and I much preffered 467 but can’t go back due to a FW glitch - completes but won’t register properly on mine so stuck in update mode after restart

this change greatly exagerates suspension effects and brings back strong oscillations at high speed on race tires

Reducing FOR to 80 helps dial it out

W the PVGT they messed up encoder behavior so 474 may still be less worse but the FF is a big step back IMO

Latest FW is not always the best

You can try that..as I will do to morrow..

I've tried all of this before, but I set the FEI to 80 and didn't notice much of a difference. It's not good enough for online racing, I'm still testing, and maybe in a month I'll find the right setting. 🤣 Right now, I'm aiming for precise control without unnecessary effects that will be similar to real driving.

I really hope you tested it yourself before giving me this advice, because it feels like the steering wheel wants to push me back when I turn, as if I'm pulling on it like a spring that wants to shoot out along with my hands)))

What exactly are you looking for mate? People have already given you solid advice. In the end of the day, you can always use PD's recommended settings by using AUTO setup. If not, you need to experiment a bit yourself 🤷‍♂️

I tested today on DD+ and F1 wheel, its not bad but I modified it to improve my lap time on Nordschleife Gr3 of about 3 sec..all at 0 is better for me excluding INT at 1 and obviously FEI, FOR at 100.
Also I went back to game sensibility at 1
NOTE AUTO SETUP is not drivable for me..
Obviously FFB to be set for each car/user, I used 10 in game and I think 50 on wheel.

Regarding what I'm looking for and my testing of each aspect, I wrote above. Thank you for your message, but if you can't offer your settings, I don't see the point in continuing the discussion. In any case, when I find the right setting for myself, I'll write about it here. After all, as was said earlier, a lot depends on the firmware.

Currently testing on the latest update and playing only online, this is what I've come up with:

Gr.4/3/2

  • SEN Auto
  • FFB 100
  • FUL 0
  • NDP 20
  • NFR 3
  • NIN Off
  • INT 6
  • FEI 90
  • FOR 80 (FW 474)
  • SPR 100
  • DPR 100

In-game (GT7):
  • FFB Max Torque: 3-4
  • FFB Sensitivity: 2

Feel: precise center-of-rear, quick response, no "emptiness" around zero. Enough damping to dampen the ride on high-speed transitions and contact, but without losing responsiveness in slow corners.

Protoypes/Gr.1/Super Formula

  • SEN Auto
  • FFB 100
  • FUL 0
  • NDP 24
  • NFR 2
  • NIN 1
  • INT 4
  • FEI 85–90
  • FOR 80
  • SPR 100
  • DPR 100

In-game:
  • FFB Max Torque: 2-3
  • FFB Sensitivity: 1–2

How it feels: extremely stable center of gravity at high speeds, ultra-quick response in high-speed "S" models. A little more damping would be helpful to prevent oscillations at 270+ km/h and when exiting curbs.
