Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme Wheel

Last week the rotary function of the funky switch of my DD Extreme became erratic and I thought I was about to have another Fanatec problem... it was like it was missing 'clicks', so maybe to change TCS from 2 to 3 would take 8 clicks.

Whilst updating firmware I checked the switches function in the Fanatec software and it seemed to work perfectly registering every single click which I thought was really strange. I did a quick video and was going to post here to see if anyone else had the same issue but then yesterday I saw that it is now listed in the 'Known Issues'

Controllers

 - On Fanatec® steering wheel controllers equipped with an encoder function, the encoder dial inputs do not work as intended.

I wondered if this problem is affecting all Extreme users, has anyone else noticed it?

Hey @FMW , Thanks for the info... I didn't think to look on the Fanatec forum!
The first thing I did was updated all my firmwares so my base is running 2.5.0.3 so does that mean it should be fixed?
It isn't fixed, tonight it is exactly the same.
And I notice the notes state the problem is only clockwise... but for me it's both directions.
I opened a ticket with Fanatec but that was 30th of May.... no response as yet!

Whatever changes Fanatec made in the 467 release were before the 1.59 update to GT. That update broke all the encoder and funky switch rotations - so now up to PD to fix it before we can see if Fanatec’s fix is actually 100% good

Thanks for explaining.... it's all a bit complicated, but as it's on the notes I'm sure PD will be keen to get it fixed!

Hi all, I received the GT DD Pro last week and I would like to know what are the recommended settings since the last GT7 update (those of the game and the steering wheel) knowing that I have switched to firmware 467?
Thanks in advance for your advice

I cannot understand you can develop something (full force) without to be sure it will be integrated at least in some games..and obviously in GT 7 when I see Fanatec has huge links with Polyphony Digital

There is a new driver 468 with new firmware 2.6.0.1 for CS DD+ specially for FullForce, I would recommend you to update.

Full force improvement..but not used in GT7, I just saw on Fanatec forum it should come on next iracing update.

I am on driver 455 since one year (neither any problem..) and it seems the only one with no problems..(misshift) including 468..I will wait for Full Force implementation to perhaps update if misshifts problem is solved..

With any luck iRacing implementing FullForce might shame PD into pulling their finger out and getting it running in GT7 too.

Side note: As I don't post here often, I'll take this opportunity to say many thanks to @PirovacBoy for your work on setups and configuration of the DD Extreme/Clubsport DD+ base, your latest wheelbase settings are mint!

Always glad if it makes you Guys enjoy the game eve more.
I appreciate your response 😁

I would avoid any firmware updates to the DD+ base past the ones found on PC driver 455, especially if you're only using it for the PS5. It appears anything past 455 introduced miss shifts to some wheels, but not everyone was affected. So update at your peril until they release a stable update or if FULL FORCE is EVER implemented for GT7 and not released in a buggy state. (Highly UNLIKELY in 2025) For me, the firmwares found in PC Driver 455 have been the most stable for me on the PS5. Not a single issue in GT7, ACC and now F125. Rock Solid.

Wow that is insane.
I just read the Article. Thank you my dear Friend for pointing me towards the Article.
That's great News for all DD+ Owners.
Because it should or could mean that there is still hope to receive an Update from PD.
Knowing how enthusiastic Sensei Yamauchi is when it comes to Virtual Driving, I can already see him and his Staff cooking 😃
Can't wait to get that Dish served.
Thanks Hristo 👍

The big issues with the crashes etc. were solved some time ago, maybe 463? So it should be safe to update for most. There are some issues with some hardwares but don't know the specifics

Depends on what wheels mostly

Formula V2.5 is where the shifting issues seem to be, but the older V2 wheel is fine

if you want the Porsche VGT wheel then you need to update
PBME is fixed finally in 465 onward on DD+
PBMR is still messed up regardless

I’m running 467 FW on PS5 w no issues. 468 can wait until PD gets it going w FullForce

Yup. I'm curious what iRacing guys think of Full Force. Based on what I read on the Fanatec forum, they still need to tweak the firmware, but at least it's finally in the wild for them.

Hello Folks,
I'm looking for a clear answer in regards to the following question.
I would like to buy this Wheelrim
Screenshot_20250616_171308.jpg
Its an old, yet completely new and unused Fanatec 36cm rarity.
My question is the following.

Can i use it on the DD+ with just a Podium Hub attached to it?
Or do i need to add a Button Hub in order to use it.
I hope someone around here has an answer.
Looking at you @super_gt 😁

Edit: I'm using a Fanatec Shifter and a Clutch Pedal so no need for Paddles.
My Intention is to use it mainly with Forza Horizon 5.
And of course Road Cars in General.

A podium hub will be enough to get steering (left/right) working. For more functions you will need shifting paddle and/or button modules.

There should be 6x70mm or 3x50mm bolt pattern so you can attach it to the Podium hub.
Without a PS button you won't be able to assign a controller.

O no i didn't think about the PS Button 😕
But thanks for the hyper fast response Hristo.

My friend which Round wheel would or could you recommend me.
It should be at least 35cm in diameter.
And it must have leather cover.
I want to drive without Gloves.
And apparently a Button Hub is necessary.
So on Console, there is really no possibility to have a clean Wheel which will work, so pity.

Edit these are a few ones which i found on ebay... Any recommendations maybe? Screenshot_20250616_173306.jpgScreenshot_20250616_173336.jpgScreenshot_20250616_173330.jpgScreenshot_20250616_174849.jpgScreenshot_20250616_174729.jpgScreenshot_20250616_174642.jpg

Now that I think about it, you can assign a controller with another steering wheel and then switch to this one.

I have no experience with such wheels so it's better to ask someone else for advice. :)
