This sounds came straight out of this mod for rFactor, made by 100% amateurs in their own time, ohh and anyone can get it for FREE!!! Check them out, http://www.enduracers.com/ if this guys can do it sure as hell PD can!
Wonderful sounds in this video. Exactly how they should be, sampled downshift and exhaust pops, just correct and distinctive samples from every rpm range, not speeded up 4k rpm sound in GT5 which is just plain buzzing and does not resemble an engine at all.
Yes. You can clearly predict which car coming to turn next. (all engine types are well represented)
I love how 'dirty' they sound. Every car in GT5 sounds too clean. I nearly came when I heard that Arta NSX. I know its a crappy overlay and I know its impossible. but. i still drooled over it
They really are! All the cars in that mod are so immersive! Just awsome!Wonderful sounds in this video. You are right my friend, but it is no excuse. There's plenty of tuned cars arround for them to record and trust me the owners would be more than willing to have their cars recorded for any GT game. What do you expect? They're recordings of the actual cars, and there's no possibility to change the sounds by "tuning" the cars.
The problem becomes hugely multi-dimensional the moment you allow for modifications to be reflected in the sounds.

They do have some decent sounds in some of the stock cars but they are way too muted for you to really enjoy, they lack that deep note they produce. I play with a 5.1 system on my cockpit with the suwoofer right on my back and nothing absolutely nothing comes from it exept for the anoying boom from a crash.
I agree that people would love to have their car recorded for a GT game, and it's probably a great way to do it, but there are generally three extra exhaust sounds per car, so you'd expect to have to record at least twice as many cars. That's a lot of work, especially when you realise that recording is the easy bit once you've got hold of the car.
I still think there's a reason PD haven't really expanded their sample repertoire since GT2. Hopefully it's a good one.
I nearly came when I heard that Arta NSX.
I don't see what's so special about sounds. I mean, it are just noises created by the car
Not really theres so many cars that share engines that they could easily cut the number in half. for example for ferrari the would just need 3-4 cars total just 1 430 GT is enough for the 430, Scuderia, Spa, and 458(not exactly the same engine but same note), 1 car for the Enzo and 599, and so on and so on. For the Hondas and Subarus would be even easier!
Plus I think they already have the correct sound samples, just go start the Subaru TC, or any Super GT(premium) car for that matter, what happens to that sweet sweet sound when you drive the car??
Well, there are three extra exhausts per car. Double the number of recordings is a good estimate. People will still complain about re-used samples.
The start-up sounds are just the bare recordings, crucially not close-mic'd. The game needs those recordings in a certain form i.e. clean loops, which takes a certain amount of the organic nature away immediately, as does their close-mic'd nature. Plus PD don't use intake sounds at all in the game, which omits a huge part of the characteristic sound, especially in the interior.
Sadly, it doesn't seem they recorded intake properly at all, so it's not an "easy fix".

What!!! You my friend have no soul!
Yes, i do have a soul. Surprise!
Let me guess, you guys also love car doors closing and the sound of a cup being put into a cupholder?
No, not really. But I do enjoy the sound my real cars make, and I love taking my track car out on trackdays, TTs and race day. I love the smell of burnt brake pads in the morning, that sweet sweet aroma that only race fuel produces and yes those wonderful sounds of a racetrack when it comes alive! You should try it sometime, it's reinvigorating!
I believe racing is cool, and i will try it out somewhere in the future, but sounds are so overrated. They are just fine in GT5, don't spend days on sounds
noisiaturismoyou will need those days
