Sorry for the noob question, but how can I get the .50 cal in the game? Is it only via pre-order or the special edition? Man, I really want to use that sniper.
 
I‘ve played it one time and really liked it, but now after starting the game a second time I just stopped after staring at the load screen for 10 minutes. Anyone else having this issue on ps3?
It really is starting to face my insanity.

Kill a sniper on the second island. I got it capturing the outpost closest to the town where you find Sam. So you get it quite quick.

You actually use the Z93 in the mission where you save Riley on the north island. But you don't get to keep it obviously. :)

Guess I will just have to run around aimlessly on the islands... still have some more towers and areas to secure.

How are you guys liking co-op and multi?

I have about 8 main missions left and plenty of side quests, :) You must have flew through it LOL.

I hopped on it yesterday yesterday thinking of finishing the main story branch but 4 hours later and I hadn't even touched it!!! I was having so much fun capturing outposts and radio towers. .50 Cal is so usefull on the heavys.

I hope they release even more DLC. I'd snap it up like a shot. Tried the MP last night aswell and i have to say, its fun! Nice little sub for when I don't feel like the seriousness of BF3.

Haven't tried CO-OP yet although I've watched the intro video. Looks great.

Got the signature Vector .45 ACP, And MH46 LMG and 1911 so far, I wonder what other Signature weapons there are? Signature Z93? Yes please!!!

The shooting games are quite addictive and a fast way to make some quick $'s

Yeah, the Golden Tiger hunt was quite a challenge too, so only with the bow.
But I feel the Leopard sometimes a little more challenging, because it's more sneaky.

Oh my god, Just finished the main story missions. I chose the right hand one of the 2 options (dont want to say wha they are obviously). Im quite shocked really.

Best story iv'e ever played, Only other that could come close is RDR imo.

I used the repellant only once, but only because I was stalked by a tiger while preparing a silent takedown from the distance.
It really feels like cheating, that's why I prefer not to use it.
Hunting with the syringe "hunters instinct" is already a little too easy.
I prefer to tag my prey and then sneak through the bush with my knife ;)

I think that's the way I'll be playing it too. I got all the way through one of the Dogon Village missions in FC2 without alerting the mercs stationed there and only taking three of them down silently, and that felt really good.

Mind you, this game has something for every style I believe.
 
I am getting excited for this one. I was disappointing with FC2 and the lack of Crytek for their engine. The whole GTA'isk look and feel just didn't do it for me. Sure the fire was nice but.... Miles of terrain to drive across, pointless missions, etc, etc. It was nothing like the first one. Although FC3 is still on the same engine as FC2, it has been revamped and actually looks pretty good. They are back on the island so that comforting. I would rather look at plush jungle and scenic beaches than dry desert for the length of the game.

For fun, check out some of the Crytek 3 engine tech demos on Youtube. It's what FC3 could have looked like.... :facepalm:

I will still pay full price for this game on the 4th for the PC. Getting ready, getting excited. Guess I better hurry up and finish Assassin's Creed III. :D
 
Pako, I felt the same way about FC2. FC1 was lush and colorful. Such a beautiful island environment. FC2 was a bland, brown, green, boring game. Sounds like they listened to the community feedback and went back to the tropical roots. I will be renting this tomorrow and if I like it, I will purchase after the rental expires. My only fear is the small community. The FC map maker is the best map maker out there but if your friends are not playing, then its hardly worth putting time into the map designs. Hopefully the save points are much better in FC3. I hated those in FC2 and the respawning AI at each checkpoint. Along with rubberband AI in the vehicles.

I chose that one as well; I might play through it again and choose the other one though (even though I am sure the outcome is the same lol).


Can we fly helos? Or was that just for that... (spoiler)... I haven't made it back to that part if the island yet.

If not we need air vehicles for dlc asap.

No one would be able to run it except for the 1%'ers lol. The game is already pretty demanding.

Only thing I would have like to seen differently is higher res on some stuff (some of the animals) and further draw distance on DX11. Otherwise the game is pretty beautiful.

I am shocked none of you have posted any pics yet. I had a ton of pics in the FC1 thread when I was playing it on the pc. That game was so beautiful. Cant wait to see FC3
 
I'm not sure that the community is that small - there were always people playing FC2 MP even up until last month. Okay, quite a few were new players getting to know what they might expect in 3 but there were always matches to choose from.

I should think with the reviews and response to the game overall that the community will increase. Sure it will never rival Blops but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as the people will be playing MP for a lot longer.

@II-zOoLoGy-II, That maybe true that only the 1%'er out there could play it cranked up! I don't see, however, why they can't push the hardware limits but allow the user to dumb it down as their hardware dictates. That is one of the reasons why I choose to PC game. It's the option for extreme game play that is far superior than console as long as I have the hardware to push it. There are plenty "auto detect settings" features in games these days that it can be made seamless for the end user. DLC like higher texture packs as a selectable option. Some of us have spent the coin on extreme systems so they can enjoy truly next gen graphics. Remember when Far Cry came out for the PC? It became the standard, the benchmark for gaming rigs. You could still dumb it down or you could continue to upgrade your machine for the next three years so you could finally play it cranked, full res and maintain 60 FPS@! :D

Can't wait to get my hands on the map editor. With the co-op mode in this one, mods communities might get a hold of this one like they did for all the Left For Dead 2 maps/mods that are out there. One can hope.
 
@ Pako, time and money my friend. You know there's not enough potential market in that 1% market (of PC gamers, for that matter) for them to invest the time and money to develop all those bells and whistles. Codemasters cut out cockpit views from Grid 2 because supposedly only 5% of gamers use them... I wish this wasn't true but it is the case.

But, what I will tell you is I can't wait for "next-gen" consoles; they get "hd" textures and 1080p while PC moves on to 4k textures on 4k displays... along with all the real time lighting/physics etc. advancements time brings... throw in an Oculus so I can get rid of my triples...

Time to pre-load my legit copy of Far Cry 3; going to check out the multiplayer side of things.

Also, in case anyone is wondering your game-save files are: C:\ProgramData\Orbit\46
 
To everyone in the US, enjoy the launch of the game today!
Invested now some time, and got it up and running flawless.
8 hours in the game and most of island 1 explored, it's such an awesome game.
Got also now the perfect combination of sniper rifle, smg, assault and bow, so taking out targets and outposts is a blast.
 
I'm not looking to buy it, but I can't actually find Far Cry 3 anywhere... It doesn't appear to be on Steam nor in Ubisoft's own shop, they're still listing it as a pre-order even though it says it was released on the 30th! What fresh hell is this?

Neema: Fc3 is not sold on steam uk. And uplay had that problem since I registered mine. Probably just a bad placed button

Well, just a few more hours here to go. So much waiting today. FC3, Aftermath for BF3.... All the while getting slammed at work so no early day for me. What makes it worse, my wife is taking a sick day today and she won't even take advantage of it, at least not the way I would.
