I like the bow. If I feel that I can take anyone out within a reasonable range, I'll use it. Most of the time I use the silenced Z93 because I'm usually hitting enemies from a distance. Both weapons (and the AMR) are the most satisfying to use.

Also, one thing I found odd was that I was given the achievement for killing a guy from 70 metres away. But I did no such thing, or at least I didn't think I did. Next thing I know, my Rakyat allies were coming at me from multiple directions (including a truck that rolled over a bank as they drove towards me which was hilarious). I can only assume that I hit someone a mile away while I was messing around with it.

Sneak up behind them and a silenced shot to the back of the head (you can only see the top third) does the trick.

Sometimes I try to do heavy takedowns if no other enemy has a clear view of it, otherwise I just use the silenced Z93 if I'm well hidden. If my cover's blown then I make use of the explosive arrows, or in a few cases I sneak in and plant a few mines around my position. The ACE is only used if I'm being attacked by a large group, usually at ground-level.

Can you stealth kill the heavy enemies BTW? I haven't tried yet, and I don't know the most efficient way to take out those guys. So far I've just sniped everyone, and left the heavy enemy as last. And then I've either blown him up with a 50 cal or diving in and shooting him with an RPG

There's actually an unlockable skill for that. But careful, if you're spotted while close enough for a take down you're pretty much :censored:ed.

EDIT: And something I just wanted to check:
Deagle.png

The detail into these guns is amazing.

And yes my AA is off, it's the only way I can run smoothly with everything else maxed and the game looks pretty damn good that way.

Some other time I might make one of these for every gun. Or at least my favorites.

Just finished the game, and wow! What an ending!

It was just incredible! :dopey:

Me too but it was a bit short, I think. There could've been more missions. :\

Minty: 8x supersampling did not do any good, it looked almost the same but FPS went down a lot. I'd stay away from it. :)

^yeah 8 crushes my frames too, 4 is okay. And that on a 5 year old PC. Everything else is on max.
Havem't played a lot this week... still not done :)

You must have a heck of a 5 year old PC. I can run 4 but it gets me down in the high 20s and stutters really bad. That's with sli 670s. I run mine with no AA or it stutters to much for me to stand.

Just finished it myself. Now I have to finish it again, you know....just cause. ;)

I read somewhere that FC3 responds well to a CPU overclock. :odd:
I've always assumed the GPU's where the important bit when it comes to gaming.

Does anyone know if there is any truth in the CPU OC as I won't be able to test it until I get my copy at Christmas. :grumpy:

Cheers Shaun.

What ending did you choose?

Left or right mouse button? ;)

I have done both now.... ;)

@Shaun,
I won't say all games, but most games will respond well to a CPU overclock that's stable. While GPU's probably carry most the load as it would seem, there is still plenty that the CPU takes care of.

Game responds very well to CPU overclock; you might try that.

Sucks you can't get it running 100%.

.

Well that probably answers where I had read it.

Thanks gents. 👍
And now the countdown until Christmas begins.

Cheers Shaun.

I7 920 (OC to 3.7Ghz) + 570(non-ti) + 8Gb Ram
gfxcard is 16months old, the rest is from 2008, still runs everything nearly max.

Don't know the frames I get in FC3 but Hitman everything max I run an average of 44 frames

Finished the Monkey business DLC yersterday.
The missions were fun, but not really much monkeys in it :/
So, tonight the last outpost and finishing the story.
Any attempt already the 100% by collecting all stuff?
After around 60% collecting I found it not rewarding enough to run around and find relics and crates, though some of the relic spots are really cool designed.

The storyline is really starting to annoy me. It just makes no sense with for example Buck, and I finally thought I was going to get to kill Vaas. Oh hang on, they've pulled the classic "We'll confiscate you of all your guns and put you in a base filled with enemies" card.

For God's sake, couldn't I just complete that convoy mission and get sent to kill Vaas by Citra?

The game itself is really good, but the storyline is just... well... terrible.

I guess mine is too if you put it like that. i have an i-7 950 so I guess mine is old too if you look at it like that. I was also not thinking when i said my FPS gets down in the 20s. That's running 3 screens. I haven't tried it with one yet for more then a few minutes.
I thought you meant your entire system was 5 years old :)

I just went and tried it out at 1080p. I guess I can max it out except for the post processing setting. I can set it to ultra and it stays at 60fps but stutters pretty bad.

Must also be a regional thing then... Works in the UK at least!

Edit: oh, they've taken it down. Well here's hoping they'll honour any purchases so far.

Some how I don't trust this CD key stores. But the offer is great.

The game bugged out on me after installing the 1.03 patch. Now I get no crosshairs and have to reselect weapons after taking a needle :(

They can be somewhat dodgy, I've heard of some people never receiving their keys and some others having their keys disabled after redeeming them in Steam or Origin. I used one once and got NFS:MW for £20, to my knowledge the key still works but I haven't played it for about a week now.

I haven't had any emails from Impulse yet so it seems to be ok so far... Apparently what happened was they were selling the Far Cry complete pack for £4.94 and forgot to cancel the discount before they added Far Cry 3.

I've never had any issues with this store in particular. Can't say anything about others tho. They don't sell Russian keys or anything else, only the ones that work regardless of your region.

So far I've bought like 8 games or so from them and they're all still in my Steam / Origin / UPlay account.

Had an interesting glitch last night. I was climbing a tower and half way up I slipped and fell to the ground. Just before hitting the ground I deployed my wingsuit. This made me go through the ground and into the infinite beyond below the island. I flew around for about 2 minutes, before crashing in to the bottom of the nothingness. I did it again but this time I aimed for the roof of a shack. That caused me to get stuck in the wall, and I had to restart the game.

My experience of Far Cry 3 so far:

- Spent an hour trying to work out how to change the aspect ratio/field of view because going from 5040x1050 to 1680x1050 left the horizontal and vertical fields of view disproportionate, which gave me a headache. In attempting to fix this problem I had to watch the opening video (which, hilariously, was rendered with frame rate drops and screen tearing) at least six times.

- Gave up trying to fix the problem and instead played in windowed mode, which locked the frame rate to 30fps. Nothing kills immersion like a window border...

- Climbed the first radio tower, cleared the first outpost, carried out a hit on some guy, made my way over to the second radio tower (which meant ignoring the constant 'hey, do what I want you to do!' notification)... Died. Lost the wallet and syringe sling I'd crafted after leaving the safe house. Went back, climbed to the top of the radio tower, and in attempting to turn off the FRAPS overlay which was just telling me '30' the entire time I accidentally hit F11 instead of F10 which restarted me back at the outpost again, losing me the radio tower (which was a 500m walk away), the other stuff I'd crafted and a lot of stuff I'd picked up.

- Rage quit.

It's a great game, no doubt, but as with every single Ubisoft game I've played since Rainbow Six: Vegas (i.e. most Splinter Cells, most Ghost Recons, most Assassin's Creeds, Driver: SF and... That might be it) there are one or two fundamental flaws in the programming which 99% of other games get right. I've never played a game which has been irreparably confused by my decision to not use three monitors while keeping Nvidia Surround running, nor have I ever seen a game with a quick load function but no quick safe function. It's madness gone crazy, if there was ever a game where such a feature was acceptable it would surely not be Far Cry 3, being the checkpointless open-world game that it is.

Aaaaand... Relax.
