Fast and furious 6 cars in GT6

I thought it was the R32 that was crash tested and legal while r33/r34 tests were falsified?

Think thats the only thing thats putting me off moving to the US (other than age, money, job, location, visa lol) but theres always an RX7 at the End of the Rainbow.
 
Well if you like free heatlh insurance. Come up north in Canada. no offense to the us, but we have a possibility of free health insurance.
 
Haha, I have zero nationalism and am generally embarrassed by my country and its citizens. And in fact I'm generally quite offended by the type of redneckery displayed in the Dukes of Hazzard, but I still love that show! I never said anything in any of my posts to put anyone down (besides Hollywood execs) for liking these movies, I simply said it was surprising that so many people watch these movies and I stand by that statement. It's neither an offensive nor defensive statement, it's simply a statement (that I knew would rile some feathers) and I know there are plenty that share my opinion of these movies. I know a lot of "car guys" none of them care for these movies. That doesn't make our opinions correct or your opinions incorrect - opinions are like belly-buttons, we all have one.

I was simply trying to have some good natured fun and represent the "other side", didn't realize the torches and pitchforks would come out so quickly. My apologies, and I bid you adieu. I will be in my movie room watching Grand Prix, Bullitt and Le Mans........those are car movies! 👍
 
Like some others I am very disappointed that PD have excluded the Jensen Interceptor. It was an incredible design for its time (1967?). The most interesting Interceptor to include in the game would be the FF which stood for Fergusson Formula (not Fast and Furious!). It was probably the first production car to feature four wheel drive (The Fergusson Formula) and anti-lock brakes (the Maxaret system). you can distinguish this model as it is 4 inches longer and has two vents behind the front wheels instead of one. There was also a model known as the GKN special based on the FF, but fitted with a special body and 620bhp A990 motor - now that would be nice to have in the game!.

I haven't seen FF6 yet - do they use the FF version of the Interceptor?

I didn't took the time to look at the vents... so i cannot tell though

It still retains its single vent and is very tail-happy in the movie, meaning its a regular Interceptor. Almost all of the classic cars used in FF6 were simply highly-modified tools for the main characters, meaning any parts which depict it as a certain model are taken away; the Daytona for example has a much shorter nose cone and wing than the real car, and lacks the rear flush-fitting window. It's not actually accurate in comparison, but for the sake of the movie, it's simply deemed as just a custom Charger, if that makes sense.

The only car which does keep features from a certain model is the Mk. 1 Escort, which has the bonnet/hood and side stripes from the RS2000 model.

Also it was supposedly going to be the charger used in FF5 but the producers didn't want to use it due to it being too "dorky", and then they added it to FF6 with these shortened parts because they didn't like them at full scale. They thought it looked better their way. I somewhat agree it looks nicer but I think it'd look good full scale too.

Also the Charger, Alfa, and GTR keep their features.
 
That's true. Reading it back, I worded my post badly. I basically meant that a car is depicted as-is unless it's for a certain story purpose. For instance, the Skyline the 4th movie (as everyone has pointed out) was made into a replica of a GT-R to make sure that it looked on par with the other cars in the race. Same applies to the M5s in Fast 6, which are just normal 5-series' with M5 parts to make them look more agressive during the chase scene and appear fast enough.

I believe it was an interceptor S which are new. They use new parts for brakes, chassis and an LS engine. New electrics and updated all round

Reps these days can be as good or better than the original. Have a work colleague whose husband recently finished an sold a rep Rs2000 in those colours and bought a real one........for less. Both were at Ford Fair at Castle Combe (UK) and no one could tell them apart.

Also never thought they were M5s, more 550 due to the amount. Didn't seem fast enough for M5s.

That's true. I think someone online tracked the number plate from the hero car (basically any car that wasn't built for stunts; usually used in a close up and has actual, good quality parts on them) and it ended up showing on DVLA as originally being a 1.3 base model. You'd never know looking at it on film though!

On-topic: I'd actually love to see the Mk. 1 Escort in a GT game. Japan has their 70's historic rally cars in the game, I think some from the UK should be represented too. :sly:
 
It was actually the R33 that was crashtested by Motorex legitimately, the R32 and R34 are still under extremely stringent regulations. I mean Paul Walkers Skyline in the movie was due to be crushed until a rich guy stepped in and bought it. The fact was Walker's skyline wasn't even a full skyline, it was the chassis that was imported and then it was put together in the US.

I don't understand the reasoning behind all these bans though. If you can drive a Kawasaki Ninja or a Suzuki Hayabusa on the freeway, you have a higher chance of dying especially in the rain than one of these Skylines.

There used to be exceptions on making your R32/34 showroom cars or track only cars, with 0 usage on the motorways. Heck I think I even read an article that after undertaking many expensive steps to bring the said vehicle to US emissions and safety standards, they limited you to a certain amount of miles per year but the fact of the matter is its unbelievably stupid to ban that vehicle.

I think we have to wait another decade for anything. Technically you can import antique or classic cars without worry I believe as long as it is 25+ years in age. Now the R33 is a little bit similar to the R34, and with its production year beginning in 1995. Theoretically, imports for it should be legal when I finish my masters degree, or in (EDIT)2020. But only for R33s in 1995. So for those who actually wanted R34's, 1999-02, you would have to wait another 4 years or at least until the government stops acting like Skylines are the devils spawn.

Technically the fourth is a kit car so it could be registered in the U.S. :sly: Also it wasn't a true R34 GT-R it was a GTS with a body kit and it didn't have a nissan engine but instead a VW motor

Is that the one with a young James Taylor? It was good, a bit slow at times. One of my faves is Love the Beast, but it's more of a documentary. The Patrick Dempsey Le Mans documentary was stellar too. 👍

Yeah, it's the one with the '55 Bel Air and the 1970 GTO that are "Racing" to Washington DC. The only thing I don't like is the ending. They don't even tell you if the Bel Air wins the drag race or the El Camino does. Other than that, it's a great movie. I love it when the Bel Air beats the Ford in the drag race.

:confused: I didn't say anything in that post about FF? I was just replying to Mr. Camaro's comment about a movie I happened to watch not too long ago and mentioned a couple other good car movies. I didn't mean to imply any comparison to FF.

I love almost all car movies and have been watching a lot of them recently. I was just trying to share some good ones and add something positive. 👍

Of course, but the latest one stretched imagination a bit too much. In previous ones they shot actual cars (though lots of kit cars, each with 10 gears and indestructible); nowadays the CG makes them look on screen as if an invisible baby is playing with toys.

At the same time I don't find them offensive. Actually FF is one of my favorite silly movie franchises ever, and might as well say they brought a ton of new people to his hobby, in a time when cars aren't as trendy to teens as they used to be.



So, all things considered, I always like to see shows, movies and media cross references in everything. Would be nice to have Top Gear, Best Motoring, Initial D and Fast and Furious content (hand picked of the latter), among others, plus some iconic cars such as in Miami Vice (Testarossa) or the Duke of Hazards General Lee, or at least being able to make some of their own (shareable livery and track editor).

The same goes to other shows and movies as well. Embrace nostalgia, plus most of those cars are outrageous, perfect game material and of good sense of humor.

I was a bit skeered. :nervous: :lol: I guess it was slightly off-topic, but the Dempsey Le Mans doc did inspire me to buy cars in GT6 which is kind of on topic.....but then it made me sad that I couldn't by a proper Porsche racing car. :indiff:

Is it me or we already have initial D's AE86 in the game? Just going on continuity, we also gave Smokey and the Bandit Trans-Am (sans Burt Reynolds), so it woulnd't be *That* hard to add a few others in the game. The template is there already..
