i just saw the whos your favourite guitarist thread...but we dont have a favourite bassist one... i dont think that its been done before so ill start...

my favourites are geddy lee and jaco pastorius

Victor Wooten. Definitely the best I've ever heard, listen to "Amazing Grace" on the Bela Fleck and the Flecktones DVD if you ever get a chance, its crazy. That whole DVD is crazy.

Flea. It's really, really hard to slap bass. Well, at least for me.

Fine, jerks, go hear. This guy will blow the pants of Geddy Lee.

This, I do not understand. The only person in that band worth a crap is Eddie, and at one time, David Lee Roth; as creepy as he is, he could sing.

Jaco Pastorius, Les Claypool, and Geddy Lee.

If I have to choose one, it's Les Claypool.

Have you ever seen one of his in concert bass solos? Or, one of Alex's drum solos? They both have incredible music abilities. The don't stick out like Edward, but they both have awesome musical talent. They both take a back seat, so Edward can shine more.

If you think the fellow members don't have music abilities, blame Edward. He writes all the music, but shares the credit equally. Alex and Mike are bad mother ****ers, and can really tear it up. If, they weren't hindered by Edward's music so much, people would see that.

If anyone says Fieldy I will have to kill you.

But Flea is awesome and so is Rob Turellio from Metallica.

Joey DiMaio - Man-O-War

And there was a bass guitartist thread, albiet a year ago, started by yours truly:D

In Alphabetical Order

Name
Geddy Lee
Les Cleypool
Steve Harris
Stu Hamm
Victor Wooten
Woody

These would be my favorites as well as my influences. There's a lot of other GREAT players out there, but I just don't listen to them all that much to call them a favorite. For those of you who mentioned that Blue Onion bassist……I should really turn you guys on to some 'real' bass playing, like anyone of the bassist mentioned above.... :-) BTW - there was a Favorite Bassist thread before:

This reminds me of that South Park episode where Cartman starts a Christian band.

Stu Hamn
Flea (seen him play live  hehe)

Some nice finds off of a music sharing progaram:
Stu Hamn - Peanut's Theme (simply mindboggling that this is one instrument)
Flea - Super Rare Bass Solo (gnarly-fast slap-bass)

A kid at my school can play the Stu Hamn Peanuts part, it's insane. Isn't that technique called chromatic? Not sure...

Tom Morello

Tom Morello from Rage against the Machine is defently the best! I dont like Rage that much, but that guy just rocks....whooohoo:lol:

No-one seems to have mentioned the crazy talents of Rancid Bassist Matt Freeman!! Awesome :sly:

Tom Morello??????????? ?????????
He's the guitarist lol
