Does the Enzo live up the prize in performance?
I don't find either of the two that nice since I'm a F40/F50 lover and the hefty 1 mil prize for the Enzo is way to much to cough up just for a Ferrari B-spec race.

No, the Enzo is not significantly better than either the F430 Scuderia or the 458 Italia. It IS better, but not by how much it costs.

I thought the 480 was a clay concept? Do you mean the 458 Italia?

If so my own preference is for the Italia - the Enzo's not quite fast enough at stock and too brutal when upgraded.

i agree with TehEightyOne, the enzo just doesnt feel as nice as the italia plus the italia is just ultra sexy :P

Just look it up in an old(ish) Cavallino... no 480.

The 458 is a V8 and therefore uses two digits for total displacement in decilitres (45) and the number of cylinders (8) = 458.

The 480 would have to be a V12 therefore (as it couldn't use the same numbering system as the Italia because it would have 0 cylinders)... so would be a 5.7 litre V12. That would be quite awesome, and would definitely be in Enzo territory (which has 5.9 litres, hence the number 499 for the Enzo).

Sorry... this anorak's a bit tight... :D

The Enzo is better than the 458 Italia - stock. As soon as the cars are being tuned the 458 will come very close to Enzo perfomance. You definately get a lot more value for your money buying the 458 Italia.

What about the F430 and 360 Modena? Shouldn't they be 438 and 368 according to that naming system?

Ah, well... :D

The Ferrari system is a bit like the "I before E, except after C" rule; there's a shed load of exceptions.

The Modena and F430 are named for the total displacement in rounded decilitres (3.6 litres, 360 decilitres in the case of the Modena, 4.3 litres/430 decilitres in the case of the F430). This has been done for a number of cars over the years although noone seems sure exactly why.

Other exceptions to the 'normal' system are anniversary models (F40, F50) of course.

According to a Cavallino from early 2010 we'll see Ferrari generally returning to the 'normal' naming system for their cars after complaints from purist customers and collectors. Because this is Ferrari... anything could actually happen.

I have both and I still prefer the Enzo, although it handles worse, is a bit soft on the stock setting, but it just feels that much more special - I am keeping it stock and mod the 458 for racing.

Oh I made a typo on the 458:D Must because I have a GTX480 :/

So Italia it is then.
Thanks guys.

Yippie!
I won a second F40... Much needed...

The 458 italia is an amazing car. It may not be as fast as the enzo, but on those corners nothing'll catch him.

Though, if you tune an enzo to it's best possible performance (corners, top speed, acceleration), using LSD and a suspension (also suggest a wing on the car, as the aerodynamic can help the car alot.

If you tune the enzo correctly, it's much better than the Italia.

On the straights, the Italia won't catch the Enzo, no matter what, and if u mess around with the LSD, it can go by those corners like the Caterham.

My point is, the 458 Italia may not be better than the enzo, and it may be slightly better for it's prizetag, but if the Enzo is tuned correctly, it's worth the money.

Though i'd rather have the McLaren F1 than the Enzo anyday.

Ah, no problem :D

When manufacturers use number codes for their whole range (Peugeot, Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari et. al.) at does actually get a bit confusing!

Back on topic... despite the 458 appearing to win the thread by a headlight, does anyone know of a good Enzo tune that they KNOW works?

A search reveals 1,334,423* tunes for the car!

*This is a made up number, but hopefully you see what I mean...
