However, untill the final tracks and cars list, all of this is just a bunch of rumours.

The editor in chief of the german video game magazine MAN!AC, Oliver Schultes, is going to interview Kazunori Yamauchi. Today Oliver asked the readers what they want to know about Yamauchi, GT4 and future GT´s. The users can submit questions Oliver will ask Yamauchi in the interview.

I submitted the following questions in his thread:

- GT4: Le Mans. In or not?
- GT4: Nübrunrgring long (Nordschleife + F1 track). In or not?
- GT4: Ferrari & Porsche. In or not?

Would you care to explain why it's wrong?

In my opinion, since Nurb was recreated so accurately, and it's +/- 20 km long, I believe any racetrack could be recreated in the GT4 engine.
I already have, the fact that the tracks layout and the elevations are that close does not require more processing power than it would if the track was wider and had gentler corners than in real life ect, it's all downto how many objects are around the track, how close together thoes objects are, and how much power is required to render each object in the game, LeMans has far far more around the track than the ring, and a lot of it is close together, that coupled with the fact KY wont do it unless it's over a high standard of accuracy means that LeMans would require more processing power than the Ring. Again, no one knows for a certainty if LeMans will or won't be in, KY has said it won't be, but that was a while ago. However even if LeMans does turn up, if it's at the same level of accuracy regarding whats on and around the tracks as other tracks like the Ring, it would require more power from the PS2 to render it.

Hmmm... something tells me that we're not gonna get any answers on these questions... apart from maybe the first!

Could you please ask one more question?...
- Hardcore physics (unlike GT1, GT2, GT3, GTC, GT4P). In or not? :p

So the Sega Dreamcast can handle it and the ps2 won't?

I never said the PS2 won't or can't, re-read my posts, what I said is that if LeMans was done at the same leel of detail as the Ring, it would require more power from the machine, KY is the person who said it can't be done but as I said that was a while ago. Please in future don't mis-quote me.

Lemans 24 hours on Dreamcast was my favourite game at the time , and the Lemans track was rendered quite accurately taking into consideration its power. The PS2 hardware can obviously handle a better recreated Lemans. Besides , I have already mentioned in my thread that Lemans has been seen being photographed by PD , so period.

KY has stated LeMans WON'T be in, so period. Besides, if you'd taken any lenth of time to read my posts, you'd see that in many of them all I'm doing is explaining why LEMans would be technically more challenging than the Ring, I'm NOT saying it won't be in GT4 or that it can't be done by the PS2 at GT4's quality, I'm not KY or a member of his team.

.....they"ll do it fine. He lied to us before..he will do again. If the dreamcast could do it the ps2 will handle it. The nurburgring was not supposed in either.

KY hasn't lied, he never said the Ring wouldnt be in.

KY hasn't lied, he never said the Ring wouldnt be in.
He didn't say it would be , in but in the ending movie in prologue they've tested the Mugen accord on the Ring , so I'm pretty sure it's going to be in ;)

TwinTurboJay
yeah , but they also tested ferrari's and porsches.////
[sarcasm]Wow , that's amazing [/sarcasm]
Just beacuse they've tested Ferraris (god , I hate this car) and Porches that doesn't have to mean they'll be in ;)

Cosmic
He didn't say it would be
Gee, thats good logic, he hasn't said a track on the moon will be in, so it must be. KY has said LeMans wouldnt be in, he never mentioned the Ring. Sure theres still a chance it will be, but at the moment LeMans is officially not appearing in GT4, just like Ferrari and Porsche.

Can I just ask a question, why would PD waist there time testing these cars if they were not in the game.....PD does not have the time, nor the funds to go off and play around with cars that are not included in the development of the game. PD have serious budgets, dates and aim's its not like some fun year out were they just muck around with cars. As for KY's passion, he could test these cars anytime out of his own interest, why would PD get them to testing and collect data if it is not being used......

Robin

PD does not have the funds!!!! Are you mad, same goes for time since they test large groups of cars together, besides PD have never once been seen testing Ferrari's and Porsches or gathering data on thoes cars.

I'd bet Le mans will be in. It has been photographed according pak and opm uk mentioned it being in the latest demo they played but it wasnt.

PD has a budget to make GT4........they cannot afford to mess around with cars that are not included.....

As for data collected......there are pictures of PD's intray's with car manufacturers.....that is information! plus we have seen many screen caps of these cars being used by PD on the prologue DVD......

PD did test some porsches. In july, they tested a Kramer's porsche on the nurb and in the gt4p euro version, they show a 911 gt2 being tested and a 911 gt3 being driven on a track.

Robin, PD have tested cars that haven't made it into the game for GT2, and we already know not every car tested for GT4 will be in GT4 hence KY's statment that the data taken for cars that don't appear n GT4 may be used ni future GT's. As for the Porsches see tested in GT4:P that was a staff day out, not a testing day and that has been covered before many times, the Kremer Porsche I don't know about but if you could provide a source about it that would be appreciated.

I believe I see a 97 M3 on the far right :)

If that's a Mine's porsche, that's a good sign of porsche being in.

'' FlyingScotsman:

Yeah.. the Sony guys...

We met the development team behind the great Gran Turismo series of playstation games.. including the man himself... Kazunori Yamauchi - the creator of the Gran Turismo franchise.

They were there with various interesting cars and people... like Aston Martin DB9s.. the Zak Speed Vipers.. Kramer Porsches... Subaru Impreza STi 'C' Spec... Nismo 350Z...AND Johnny Herbert (DRIVING the DB9!) filming for the advertising slots for the game!

Kazunori said that the game would be released in time for Christmas. But there was a hint that because the licenses for Porsche (EA Sports) and Ferrari (Sega) expire on the turn of the new year.. they may release the game late...''

Lets just hope for the best :)

Theyre not being tested, and if it wa a Mine's Porsche it would have the Mine's signature on the side of it.
Thank's for quoting that little article, but it still doesn't confirm anything as the cars were only being driven round the track, was data gathered and the sounds recorded ect, it's a good sign but KY hasn't lied to us before, and he's said Porsche and Ferrari won't be in.

You contradicted yourself.....

PD have tested and collected data...whether they use it for now or later is unknown.....all im saying is these cars will always be available to PD for any future GT's...so why do they need to test, or even look at them now!??

No, I didn't I said PD have never once been seen testing or gathering data on Porsches and Ferari's, if just driving them round a track counted then all thoes from the staff day would count, when the cars weer driven round the Ring, thats all that happened, they wern't brought in for testing, they didn't have the engine sounds recorded or anything, so unless you can prove otherwise, they haven't been tested.

Yeah I understand that fact that it is not clear cut, we see bits of info here and there is no solid proof as to whether they are in or not......none of us are any wiser the the situation than the next person. But you have to admit that it is abit fishy seeing so much of the words ferrari and porsche....... Usually when there is heavy speculation about a certain item in a game.....its usually comes true...or at least part true! :)

The solid proof was when KY said at E3 this year, Ferrari and Porsche will not be in GT4, but maybe a future GT. As I said, theres always that chance they will be in, but officially they arn't until otherwise stated.
