'' FlyingScotsman:

Yeah.. the Sony guys...

We met the development team behind the great Gran Turismo series of playstation games.. including the man himself... Kazunori Yamauchi - the creator of the Gran Turismo franchise.

They were there with various interesting cars and people... like Aston Martin DB9s.. the Zak Speed Vipers.. Kramer Porsches... Subaru Impreza STi 'C' Spec... Nismo 350Z...AND Johnny Herbert (DRIVING the DB9!) filming for the advertising slots for the game!

Kazunori said that the game would be released in time for Christmas. But there was a hint that because the licenses for Porsche (EA Sports) and Ferrari (Sega) expire on the turn of the new year.. they may release the game late...''

Lets just hope for the best :)

some of those links dont work

ytes it can be said it was a staff day out and yes Ky said that they wouldn't be in, and there is just as much evidence that points the other way here.
Files on Ferrari and Porsche cars, as well as brands that Ferrari owns... And KY hinting that these liscensces being freed up would delay the game. And only by alittle bit? Yeah sounds like they have Ferrari's and Porsche's already to zoom-a-zoom in yur boom boom! They just need the liscensces. And I don't thin many fans will be dissapointed with a small delay to have two of the best car companies in the world added. I know I wouldn't. The only thing I trying to say is that it's really 50/50 at this point for those cars. Basically it is KY's descision and he can change his mind on them not being in GT4. It is indeed his game. And maby he already plans on them being there! And just wants to surprise everyone. Hell there was a GT3 911 (966) in GT3 so hey maby they already had some Porsche data and are ready to show us what GT was meant to be. And remember Ferrari showed interest in being in, I'm sure they would cut liscenscing prices to get into the game. If they want to be in then I'm sure they will find a way in.

There is much talk about Ferraris and Porsches , but no one mentioned Lambos.
Aren't those cars on the same scale , super cars ? As for Ferraris and Porsches , it would be appreciated to see them in a concept GT4 early 2005 as they are certainly not in GT4.

Most of ferrari and Porsche pics has a Japanese license plate.
Noitice CobraGT's pic. Black BMW's plate "37-19" is Japanese license plate,
and this is also STAFF'S CAR. So, I think this is "Staff day."

Staff day = Staff's driving lesson day.
They didn't test cars.

I'm looking for Ferrari pics that has FOREIGN COUNTRIES LICENSE PLATE!

I really hope that us non networked people don't get fcuked over with downloadable content... that will really really piss me off.

hey look it says gran turismo and ferrari in the same space :dopey:

Sadly, we won't see some vehicles in the mix in 4. When asked about two specific car makers, one German, one Italian, a reluctant Yamauchi answered, "Ferrari and Porsche, [aren't] impossible, but in terms of GT4, it won't happen." Sorry, peeps, no Enzo or Carrera GT this time around. So, the encyclopedia won't be complete until maybe GT5. We do know that the following makes will be available: Daihatsu, Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Chrysler, Acura, Audi, Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Hyundai, Fiat, Jaguar, Lotus, Lancia, Renault, BMW, Chevy, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Pagani, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Volvo, MINI, TVR and VW.

Let's try to conclude this:

In August of 2003. I had an rare opportunity for stand-alone interview with Kazunori at PlayStation Experience London. Among other things we discussed in that 45 mins (the short transcrpit of that talks still lies somewhere in archives at www.granturismo.com) I was wvery intrested in little roumor I heard just day before I flew to London - one of my sources told me there is a possibility that GT4 will have an "outstandigly long track in the game". First thing I thought was "Nurberging". It was a more then year ago from now.

When I asked him about that - about the roumour of a track 4 times longer that any track we saw in GT games so far - he said that he would like to have (Nurb) inside, but "due to technical limitations of PS2, there is no possibility that any track of that lenght could be implememted in the game." Period.

Just four months later, first mug-screens of Nurb has appeared worldwide.

When I asked him about the LeMans, he said "I'm not sure for the track, but you can expect a very distinctive amount of LeMans vehicles, from the history and recent ones". Three months later, japanese Prologue showed us an movie-clips of LeMans history vehicles being filmed in some spectacular museum of automotive history.

When I assked him about the Ferrari and Porche, he just said it was not in his primary focus. Six months alter the totally new footage appears in european Prologue with almost full minute of Ferrari inside.

I don't want to presume anything, but on Nurb example I can say that aven PD people are not always fully truthfull, due to various PR reasons.

The time will tell. As for myself, I'm very certain of LeMans being in, but it is just IMHO.

OH, yeah - about the live4speed's "PD don't have the funds" statement: Gran Turismo series is the best ever selling game franchise on the world - as for May 2004, GT series has sold in 34 millions units worldwide, making it the all-around record breaker in many fields. As the game revenues before taxing for publisher are 65% of the price, it is pretty easy to calculate that gross amount of earnings for GT series for PD and Sony (as PD is an official subsidiary of Sony Computer Entartaimenat Japan) is about lousy 1 billion and 320 millions dollars. It is good to be PD stake-holder, you can take my word for that.

^ Amar  well said mate! It can be said that for a car enthusiast such as Kaz, his vision won't be complete until 3 of the biggest names in automotive history are part of his digital masterpiece... Porsche, Le Mans, and Ferrari.

As for truthful, as Obi-Wan says, many of the truths we cling to depend on a certain point of view. Many of Kaz's statements in the past many be true of circumstances at the time, or limitations or parameters in what he could say that none of us would be privvy too. Case in point the total # of cars... every one's been going on and on "only 500 cars" "500 cars" yada yada yada... well all he's said is "over 500 cars" which means that the truth lies from 501 to how ever much data they can ram onto the disc... could be 550, could be 590, could be 1000. Same with tracks... over 50... could be 51, could be 151... we don't know yet, but that's were the truth is. Remember, in business it's better to under promise and over deliver... ie, "over 500 cars" people expect 500 cars, then drop 850 on them and everyone's giving the "wow, they blew me away with the number of cars".

Anyway, i'm rambling as per usual, so i'll end it, but one other point about context is Kaz also stated he would also consider delaying the game to include luminaries like Porsche and Ferrari.

oddly you Admitted it.....

I know, I was wrong, at the time me like so many others here assumed that when KY said the PS2 couldn't do LeMans at the level he wanted, it couldn't do the Ring either.

And Amar, I think that was a well put post, however your the only person to interview KY and hear him say the Ring specifically wouldn't be in, the interviews taken down and printed in magazines and typed on web sites all have him specifically saying LeMans isn't in. I'm not calling you a liar, rather I'm pointing out that since thats the only source, I've never seen it before hence my previouse comments on KY never saying the Ring wouldn't be in.

i just think its very strange that they would put out that video feachering so many Porches and ferraris theywerent near getting them. They could have picked test days that didnt show the games fans these cars but they (pd) chose to include THAT footage. I have to think it means something.

personally i'd rather see all the Nobles

It wasn't a test day, it was a staff day out nothing more.

They arn't misleading anyone, KY said quite clearly Ferrari and Porsche will not be in GT4. What is wrong with you people, if he decides to put that onto the disk as an extra because it's enjoyable to watch so be it, it doesn't imply anything. It has nothing to do with the game itself.

GT4 will/won't have Ferrari or Porsche, what's the big deal!!? So if it does then great, KY and PD have said many things won't be in GT4 but with the delay these things have become true, GT has been delayed and both GT and Forza devs are tying up licences, it doesn't matter, sure it would be great to have these 2 great marques along with the raging bull but if they're not there it won't put that much of a downer on the overall GT4 experience.

At this moment in time until something official is released, by this I mean a finished track and car list not what someone says in an interview, you keep your (target )audience waiting and guessing and then surprise them. That's the way it works, look at MGS2 and Hideo Kojima for example, when a new character was hinted Hideo denied it but hey it happened and people were wary but the game showed it's true prowess and Kojima-san kept his title of genius.

Don't dismiss anything just because someone has said it won't happen even the people behind it as it could just be a ruse to throw you off and surprise you when it happens.

Keep your audience guessing until the very end.

Well put _aj, your right at this stage anything can still happen regarding Ferrari and Porsche.

Then why the hell didn't they use RUFs and Zondas instead of Porsches and Ferraris!? It just doesn't make any sense.

Because maybe the place they were at didn't hire out Zonda's and Ruf's, maybe like most tracks that let you hire cars, there were more Ferrari's and Porsches than anything else. ll it was, was a staff day out that PD filmed, if it intended to hint at Ferrari and Porsche being in GT4 we'll find out but my advice is don't read anything into it because we all know how hard it is to get thoes licenses.

Then why show us these cars? To laugh in our faces and say, "Hey, you aren't gonna have these babies in gt4." There's a reason for everything. I'll just say time will tell and hopefully in some weeks, we'll get some solid info from tgs.

The reason is they wanted to show us them having a good time, the vid was cool, thats it.

"They arn't misleading anyone" Sorry, but I feel mislead

"KY said quite clearly Ferrari and Porsche will not be in GT4." Is that in the video he sold to the games fans? those cars are.

Not trying to be argumentitive, just trying to put logic to that video. I also dont think they will be in GT4, but this just dosnt add up. besides we got months before its game time

I know, we will find out in time, probably during the TGS.

Live, what would you do if the tgs gt4 trailer has ingame footage of a Enzo on the Le mans and a CarreraGT on the Nurb? I would completely pass out, I'd have to get 4 new pair of pants

Amar212 pointed out various times when Kaz flat-out lied, or misspoke the truth. He did it once before with GT3. Remember the F1 question I've brought up before? He's doing it for a good reason, to surprise us. So, let the man have some with it, eh?
