How many would side with me that this is one of Ferrari's sexiest cars of all time? Was just playin' me some Project Gotham Racing 4 and whipped out the Testarossa. God, it's beautiful. That low, wide, sleek look, the slats in the rear and the side, that beautiful red color...mmm. Who here agrees? Any nay-sayers?

I like it a lot but I don't think it is the sexiest Ferrari.

I hate to say it, but Jay is clueless on this one. :p

I wouldn't say that Testarossa is one of the sexiest Ferraris. I think it is the Sexiest car of all time. Seriously, it has been my opinion that 80's Testarossas are the best looking sports cars ever made. F40 might be cooler, but still....... :sly:

Ohhh come on 250 GTO, 288 GTO, F40.... Testarossa is in the league with them but not outright best :D

I prefer curves. In my eyes, things like DB9s, 250 GTOs, those 288s. Those in my eyes are the most beautiful. I find that Testarossas have a commanding presence. I notice F40s, Countaches much more than DB9s though. Doesn't help that in some cases, a blown up picture of a 288 is a suitable substitute for pornography.

I may be running into a bit of an argument here, but I don't like the Testarossa at all. For me, Ferraris are about soft, flowing and yet tight lines. The Testarossa is too boxy in that respect, it's like a gigantic wedge.

Got nothing against it on a technical basis though. But it sure ain't the best-looking Ferrari of all time for me.

Agree:tup:
For Ferrari's at least but close IMO with the F40 and F50, I first saw it and got hooked on the first Need for Speed. That and the Viper, Diablo, RX-7... Not the Porsche though. Only 3 of those I like aesthetically.

I've always loved the Testarossa (10x better looking in the flesh than any picture btw) but for me, the 288 GTO is the sexier looking Ferrari, of that era at least.

Nay.

It's not even the sexiest Ferrari "red head"

As TheCracker posted, the 288 GTO is the sexiest, most beautiful Ferrari ever.

I can't say I was ever completely enamored by it's design, and I grew up during the Countach-Testarossa battles of the mid-'80s.

However, it had a lot of unique design cues that no car from that era had: The slits along the side, which masked the deep intakes, the "tree branch" side-mirrors that reach out, and the wide, truck-like stance the rear of the car had.

^Thats not a Testarossa, thats a 512TR :p

yes I know what TR stands for

I often forget about the Testarossa, even though for me it's sort of the archetypal Ferrari, as it's the shape of Ferrari I grew up with - that and the F40, which shares many characteristics of the design, and then the 348 which was like a bridge between the 80s Ferraris and the 90s ones. I still love the look of the 348, possibly more so than the 355 that people seem to rave about, because the design is more agressive - I think the 355 was too "soft" a design without being beautiful like the 360 that replaced it. And the slatted rear end of the 348 looks fantastic:

The 246 Dino is probably my favourite Ferrari shape though, it has an intangible quality beyond just beauty that I can't quite describe... perhaps it's the significance of the model, perhaps it's the fact that they all now have the patina of age, or that being a V6 they sound wonderful in a completely different way to modern Ferraris... but they're my favourite whatever it is.

Special mentions go to the 275 GTS, 330 GTC, 360CS, 206SP Dino and the Ferrari 156 "Sharknose" for all looking amazing too.

Here's a sharknose as a treat, as driven by Wolfgang von Trips and Phil Hill:

No way, the 512TR is nicer (IMO), F512M looks tacky.

Testarossa is not only a great looking car but a great sounding car too. I think the design epitomises 80's excess but in a way that is far more timeless than a lot of the cars penned in that era. Let's face it, which acne faced teen of the 80's didn't lust after one. It's one of the all time classics in my humble opinion, and comparatively cheap these days too.

The Ferrari Testarossa as well as the 512TR is in fact my favorite car of all time. I absolutely love the way it looks and I love how it sounds. I have had the fortune of seeing several in person and even sitting in one at a Maserati dealership years ago.

...and comparatively cheap these days too.

Perhaps relatively cheap to buy, but you'd need a 2nd mortgage to run one!

Surprised that anyone could look at an 80's Ferarri and consider it good looking alongside the eye-wateringly beautiful stuff of the 60's... the 288 and F40 are good looking in a functional way, but comparing them to a 250 LM or 250 GTO is like comparing the reasonably good looking girl who lives on your street to a Victoria's Secret underwear model.

I'm not a big fan of the Testarossa, simply put. Granted, it was the car when I was a kid, but I've always given it a resounding "meh." Its not that its bad by any stretch, but it just doesn't seem like that cool of a car to me. Of that style and era, I'm more of a fan of the 308 that preceded it, or to go a little further back, one of my personal favorites:

If you've got a few mil burning a hole in your pocket, you can purchase this badboy in London (among many other INCREDIBLE cars) on wednesday.

The Testarossa was the first Ferrari I ever saw, so of course it's kind of a deal of nostalgia I guess. I still think it looks great, but, as most people have said, the 288 will always be the best the looking Ferrari in my opinion. Though they all look good.

Lotta TR fans out there. I personally hate it. It's a dated car that's impossible to drive and horribly - HORRIBLY - unreliable. Of that model the only one worth touching would've been the F512M and they're so rare it's not even worth discussing. I could name ten Ferraris I'd have for TR money before I had a TR.
