Ferrari Testarossa

This just in. The sexiest Ferrari ever produced is the 355.

Disagree with you on that one. The 348 was the originator of the shape - stylistically the 355 was just a facelift (I'm aware they did a lot under the skin, but the shape itself was just an update), and it wasn't as curving and sensuous as the 360 that followed it (and remember that sensuous curves are always an echo back to Ferraris of old).

I've never driven a 355 (though I'm led to believe it's a very good car and in some respects subjectively better than the 360, and objectively better than the 348) but I can never understand when people go wild about it's styling - for me it sits uneasily between the sharp and agressive 80s and the more flowing shapes of the late 90s.

Sexy Ferrari? I've become partial to the 275GTB/4.

The 288 and 512 are definitely sexier cars IMO. But the Testarossa is still an amazing machine, and for me, is the definition of a Ferrari.

I think the TR is the definition of a Lamborghini.

Whoever said the 355 is the most beautiful was dead-on. Certainly the most aggressive recent model, because it's hard not to say the 456 is the most beautiful.

Yeah, but the 348 looks terrible today, even though the similar-in-details Testarossa and similar-in-shape 355 look fine. They must have done something right.

M5Power
It's a dated car that's impossible to drive and horribly - HORRIBLY - unreliable.
Oh come now. That is unfair. First of all, I drove the Testarossa at our local laundromat for 3 years, and I never had any problem with that one:

Second of all, it is a Ferrari made in between 1970 and 1995. Criticizing it for that is like criticizing old Lotuses for falling apart while catching on fire.

Have to disagree on that point, especially use of the word "terrible", that's pretty harsh on the car! I actually prefer the looks of the 348 to the 355.

Lotta TR fans out there. I personally hate it. It's a dated car that's impossible to drive and horribly - HORRIBLY - unreliable. Of that model the only one worth touching would've been the F512M and they're so rare it's not even worth discussing. I could name ten Ferraris I'd have for TR money before I had a TR.

Where does the Mondial t sit on that list?

...he he...

Did any of you have this poster as a kid:

Still one of my all-time favorite posters! :)

Right next to my Countach poster, I think most of us had it.

Hell, I was born in '92 and I had one of those posters on my wall. I too had the privelege of growing up with one, as my uncle purchased one in 1994. I got to sit in it at age 3!:dopey:

My problem with some of the post-TR Ferraris is that they kind of changed the design mindset. That 355 (no offense to anyone) looks like they took a TR, drove it into a retaining wall, smooshed it, and made it look ridiculously small. The beauty of the TR was in its long, sharp, flattened lines and its low, fat stance in the rear. It truly looked like an excellent roadcar.

Now there's no arguing that those 60s Ferraris aren't beautiful, because they simply are...but I think around the 70s, that's when the Ferrari soon started to be available to the common masses, not just the priveleged few. It was the beginning of a new era, it seems. It's like comparing Marilyn Monroe to Jessica Alba or something...both beautiful, just different eras of beauty.

Um, I didn't.

Unsurprisingly, my room was covered ceiling to floor with Corvette ZR1 posters.

I had a C4 'Vette poster. I also had a Countach 25th Poster, a Lotus Esprit poster and a Aston V8 Vantage Volante poster.

I've spent a little time in a black Testa on a couple occasions. It sounded great, and it felt great having that rumble right behind you. At speed, the sound of the air coming in through those louvres literally right next to your ear is amazing. At 6'1, my head was usually pressed against the top and the gearbox didn't seem to be very inspiring to use (I never got to drove the thing, mind you). The brakes were on point though.

I've got some photos of it here. This one stands out as one of my personal favorite photos I've ever taken:

It's a Vandenbrink, but even so, probably my favorite Ferrari in terms of looks:

... I still have a C3 Vette poster on my wall. It's got a pretty wild (cool, imo) body kit.

I'd be amazed if you could find 10 separate model of Ferrari that could be bought for less than the price of a Testarossa. I can think of about 7 at a stretch.

Sorry guy but i disagree with you all, the Boxer range of Ferrari's is without doubt the greatest looking Ferrari ever in my opinion :)

Current buy-it-nows for Testarossas on eBay: $62800, $53500, $63500, $62900, $64500, $62850, $59500. Average is $61400.

I'd rather have

308
328
348
355
365 GT4 2+2
400
412
456 w/ manual

And MAYBE 308 GT4 and Mondial.

Before you go crying to your mother about the 355 and 456 be advised there are several on eBay currently with buy-it-nows under $65k.

I have driven all of the listed vehicles except the front-engined V12s, and I prefer them to the Testarossa. The Testarossa is unwieldy because of how wide it is, it's impossible to drive or see out of, the clutch is impossibly heavy and the steering is ridiculously heavy as well. The interior is dated and reliability is the very worst of ANY production Ferrari. Furthermore, its styling is so 'look-at-me' expressive that it's more of a Lamborghini than a Ferrari. For my money, I'd rather have a slower, more comfortable, more usable, more reliable car than the hulking Testarossa. And seriously now that you can have a decent 355 for TR money, why would anyone go for the TR?

I'm more of a fan of the '80s models, but I have to admit the prettiest Ferrari is inarguably the 360 Modena:

As for my favorites, that would include the '80s Testarossa, the 288 GTO, the 250 GTO, the 355, the Dino...

Im a fan of the F40. I always have been, Maybe its because i grew up with a fiero in my garage. i dont know. however i have always loved me a TR and always will. however, given a choice i would have to pick up a Diablo instead.

I apologize Enzo Ferrari, my heart belongs to Lamborghini.

the day i win my millions, i will go to Lamborghini of Troy and Purchase an LP640.

but ill have Millions, so ill hold a raffle for everyone here on GTP, winner gets a TR.

and to sweeten the deal, all proceeds go to auto shop programs across the country to keep kids under the hood and off the streets!
