Anybody play Fifa here?. For me i seem to be switiching between Fifa 11 and Granturismo every day.

What teams does everyone support?

Any Boro (Middlesbrough) fans here?

I got it for the PC a few weeks ago.
Incidentally I went Middlesbrough in the manager mode :p
I quite like the Become a Legend mode, been playing that quite a bit.

I am in the same boat as you jms. I switch between FIFA 11 and GT5 every day. I mostly play Pro Clubs online. It's a blast. I am a Leeds fan, so both are clubs are in the same league. You guys seem to be having a rough season.

I have it and like it but it's overshadowed by GT5 and Black Ops.
Oh and Tottenham fan by the way.

I'm obsessed with Fifa 11, I'am a pro club Manager and I have a awesome Ultimate team squad!

Edit: I'm a Arsenal Fan + Chesterfield FC fan too (Home team club)

So if I start a Career Mode (the place where you can be a Player, Manager, or PM), are you automatically at the one team you choose at the beginning forever or can you be traded, etc?

I've been running through Manager mode which I started at Port Vale (bottom English league) but at the end of the season you get offered other jobs, I got 2 options to stick with the Vale or move to Millwall which ended up in the same league as I got Port Vale promoted and Millwall got knocked down.

I gotcha. I was just making sure the relegation/promotion system and transfer stuff was in the game before I got into it, I don't know that much about FIFA games.

I'm not sure what would happen as just being a player, but I'd assume teams would make offers in the transfer windows for you to decide upon. You get a manager rating as you win games, it will go up to 5* starting at 0 if you keep winning though it takes plenty of time. I would assume that rating changes which teams give you offers, I also don't know if you'll get offers from random teams in completely different leagues.

Yeah I did some bottom English league team as a Player Manager, I'll just see how it goes.

Total heartbreak! My lovable team of misfits (trust me, they suck!) goes down 2-nil, comes back with the second goal in stoppage time, then goes down 3-2 in extra time with the equalizer coming from my pro in the 120th minute! I didn't know how to take penalties, so I missed the first one, and then lost 7-6 on pens.. :(

Most fun I've had playing a video game in ages!

I had a very strange season with my noobs as I went out at the first hurdle on pens in the J Paint Trophy, the only trophy I might actually have won outside of the league, but then I managed to take premier league teams down in the FA cup and league cup almost making the semi-finals in the FA cup if it wasn't for Man City on penalties again even though I scored in the 115' but they scored with the final touch of the ball pretty much because the game decided every tackle I made would ricochet to a City player. I don't think I've ever won a penalty shootout against the AI, I'm like England when it comes to pens . Furthermore my top scorer and highest assists (also topping the league) were 55 rated players in a squad of 60+ for my first team but I regularly played both because everytime I did they were both massive problems for the other team.

I originally planned to stick with Port Vale, but I couldn't resist the far superior squad Millwall had which is probably best in the current league especially with my extra signings with some very quick wingers and solid defensive mid fielders in the middle of the pitch, there was about 8 strikers to pick from of similar ratings .

Im Currently in my 5th season working my way up from Npower league 2 with Gillingham. I moved up to Npower league 1 in which I spent 3 seasons trying to move up haha finally did and am currently winning Npower league. Come on Premier league!!

BTW You do get offers from other series. I had offers from Serie A, The German league etc etc but am sticking with the one team.

I see. The annoying thing was transfers. I offered to about 20 guys, and I got 3 to come. Everyone was too old, or Port Vale wasn't good enough, or something like that . It's really fun though, it just sucks that the only game I lost so far was the one cup match like that.

I may need to shorten up the halves though, since there are so many games.

I usually play 7-8 min halves on Professional, I'm not that great but Fifa to me is more of a lazy fun game so they put up a fight on Professional and can score against me but ultimately the teams in my league play more like teams in that league would (i.e. they don't push up the pitch constantly whereas on world class and such they just never ever leave you alone) but premier league teams remain a massive challenge but still doable. If I get in to the premier league I might bump the difficulty up as then I'm likely to have more reliable finishers instead of ending up having 15 shots and still only 1 goal as often happens .

Yeah, the goalkeepers are unbelievable.. I'm playing on semi pro and normally can only manage 2 or 3 goals per game with loads of shots, and they normally get a goal as well :scared:.

I more find hitting the target is the problem with a bottom league team . You will learn how best to take your shots the more you play and you'll take alot more clearcut chances and convert them such as breakaway runs and so on but the amount of free headers my Vale squad missed was getting out of hand and then scoring seemingly impossible ones.

I can still dominate a game with less time or higher settings in terms of possession and quality chances but be punished by a random bounce or excellent tackle resulting in the AI getting through on goal and instantly converting whereas when I try I'd hit the post or something with a 'precision' strike with a similar rated player. Too stressful for me thanks , I'm finding professional means yes I do dominate most league games comfortably but I don't win them I've had a few draws and some very close calls despite not losing a league game. I'm earning my victories because I am playing on a higher level then teams of this level do, so I feel that's fair, whilst victory is still not guaranteed. The alternative is dominate games and getting constant 0-0 draws or completely beating on teams by 7-8 goals instead of 1 or 2 even though the opposing team doesn't get a look in until cup games.

Well, my pro just got hurt for 3 months right in the middle of Cup time. Maybe I can still win.. It seems like my other strikers (in the 60s overall) are finishing chances that my pro (80) was getting stopped.

I find that sometimes as well, as in my earlier posts with low rated players being my best but there was statistical reasons for it (aka they excelled in one area but sucked in the rest ). I think sometimes poor finishers and shooters end up missing more but subsequently when they do hit the target it's far from the keeper as it almost flies high or wide or both. That being said it was more just who the best chance fell to rather then stats for me as they were all similar.

I think a common mistake alot of players make is trying to have their pro score all the goals and such, which is why I opted to play normal manager mode so I wouldn't be biased in such a way so I play more organically and don't rely on or try to force the issue regarding my pro.

Yeah, that's what pissed me off. I transferred a 67 overall striker to replace my pro for an FA Cup match against Liverpool (horrid luck really), and I go down 2-0, he scores a goal to make it 2-1, and then the goalie stops a breakaway that I shot fine. I'm mad.

I love how these emails make no sense. I barely reached a new reputation level with a win, and simmed a match (I'm getting lazy, I'm way ahead) and lost. So I dropped back to the very top of the last rep level, and with me about to play in a Cup final and clinching promotion in February, they say they may have to show me the door if I don't "right the ship."

Well, I left Port Vale (which actually I kinda regretted) but the new transfer budget at Doncaster was too good to pass up. I hope the game doesn't lay down any wrath on me .

Wait, why isn't my pro on my squad now? I'm a Player Manager, this is one entity..

Wrath lain down . I read that any player manager retires as soon as they switch clubs.. So I'll just start over as a manager :).

I got my karma for leaving Vale by them being my closest rival thanks to the signings and changes I made at the club in the previous year . That's odd though, seems a little silly to force you in to retirement but I suppose you have to be offered specifically a player manager position or something?

I just started over as a Manager, did a full season with Cardiff City, getting to the semis of the FA Cup and then left for Stoke City. I am currently selling all the deadweight on the team and will buy Nicholas Anelka to do some work, maybe Carew from Aston Villa if $ allows .

I finally made it to the Premier League with Gillingham working my way up from the bottom. Made it to the top in my 6th season :) Now time to try and win it!

What difficulty are you on? I'm doing semipro and the league is easy but the late stages of cups are killing me .

Is it offside called in real life on shots that rebound off the goalie/bar? I don't think it is, but I only started watching soccer recently so I'm not sure.

Are you guys still playing FIFA 11 or has this discussion moved on to FIFA 12 now?

And also, do you think that it's easier to have a challenge against the AI with lower level teams? I'm starting my 4th season as a manager with Napoli right now, and I did my 1st year on Professional difficulty, but easily went undefeated in all competitions, so in the 2nd year I bumped it up to World Class, and went undefeated again, but at least I had some draws. 3rd year I played on Legendary, and still didn't lose a game. Now in the 4th year, I'm kind of losing a desire to play, because my team is really, really good so I don't really need more transfers, and I can't seem to get a decent game out of the AI. (This is all FIFA 12 on Xbox 360).

I play a 4-2-3-1 (1) with Napoli right now, and my current lineup is:
Position: Main (Alternate)
ST: Cavani (Vargas)
RAM: Farfan (Reus)
CAM: Honda (Muller)(Eriksen)
LAM: Lavezzi (Dyer)
RDM: L. Bender (Elm)
LDM: Tiote (Alderson-youth player)
RB: Hugo Mallo (João Pereira)
CB: P. Jones (Santacroce)
CB: Hummels (Rolando)
LB: Jordi Alba (Kolarov)
GK: Ruffier (Hansson)(Nardi-youth player)

Do you guys think I should start over with a lower level team to try and get a challenge? Or do the same tactics (in-air through ball to a speedster/finisher and skill moves on the ground) still decimate the AI at low levels too?

Really :censored:ing tired of losing on Semi-Pro, but only in games that matter.

FIFA 12 gets lots of time at our house. I'm decent (I think) but my 7 year old is competive with Spain, Brazil and some of the Legends teams from the Creation Centre.

Huuuuge USA supporter of course, Liverpool for more than 15 years as well. Not much fun last season... Team going the wrong way and stars not getting any younger.

The EPL is growing bigger and bigger every year here in the states. Used to have three or four great places to watch matches at... Now there are 30+. The extra $9 for the Sports Package on television is well worth it also.

YNWA.

It's cause LeBron got some stake in the team ;). Just kidding, but I've always been interested in international games, and hopefully once the Premier League gets more coverage here I can watch that too. I'd most likely pull for Fulham and Everton, just because of Dempsey/Howard awesomeness.

Speaking of Everton, I left Stoke City to manage there, and as usual decimated all their blooming talent to buy one or two stars . Now I'm torn between a guy named Hulk from FC Porto and Mario Balotelli, just for laughs .

I think I may choose FIFA 13 instead of COD this year, not sure yet.
