So in spite of all the work I have to do with my customer's sites, I'm finally going to set the time apart to make myself a site.

http://shutterfanatic.com/

Currently I'm working on the design, and my question to you is this: Being that it's a photography related site, what features should it have? Any ideas for the sorts of things I should focus on?

I figure I'll get as many ideas as possible, then combine and come together with the best of everything. 👍

Thanks in advance for your help!

What do you want the site to achieve? Do you want to show off your work? Do you want to get more clients?

Well, obviously it needs a gallery.

I'd go for a homepage/introduction with thumbnails of recent updates, favourite pictures or a random shot, a full gallery with all of your pictures, and a contact form, forum and whatever else you want :)

I like the domain by the way ;)

All good ideas for any photography-related site, however, for a site to really succeed and stand out from the others, it needs an original idea, something new, something that will draw the user from all of the other gallery sites.

And unfortunately, that's what I'm having problems coming up with, so I turn to you GTP. 👍

What about a similar feature to Apples own I-life Gallery. People make a gallery cast (like a pod cast) and other can sign up, this will then send either an e-mail (or if you really are good at scripting and such) automatically update the subscribers folder autmatically on there own PC with full res images.

Other than that you could have a blog system for people to sign up and use, so they can create there own personal blog with images and gallerys.
