Finding Nemo

It had its funny parts. The turtles are awesome. The sharks weren't that bad either. I saw ti the other day with my brother. Anybody else see it? What'd you think?

I thought it was pretty good. I'm not a Disney fan at all - in fact I usually hate the regular, cel-painted movies - but the Pixar stuff seems to be a little more independently written. They don't have to toe the Disney Formula line as heavily.

Over all, I thought Finding Nemo was pretty good. About on par with Toy Story II, if not as good as Toy Story. Almost as good as Monsters Inc.

We took my 7-year-old daughter and her friend to see it on Saturday. I loved the Australian dentist.

I tried seeing it yesterday at 2, but it was sold out in all 8 theatres I checked until after 5. Needless to say it will have to wait for another day...

The wife and I saw it on Sunday evening. (gotta love the 10pm showing with next to no children in the theatre).

I'll note that is was a very good movie. Living with a Saltwater Fanatic it was even more fun. I learned things about the fish in the movies that I'll likely never need to know.

For instance, the fish played by Willem Dafoe (the fish who plans the escapes) is an extremely rare fish in captivity, and retails for close to $300 each. And it's not easily kept alive.

Here's an interesting tidbit (that I figured Tom M would have noted) - The mechanical great white shark in the movie "JAWS" was nicknamed Bruce. Subtle nod of the head there.

I don't think that this movie was written quite as well as Toy Story 1. On par with #2 as well as Monsters Inc.

It will be one that we pick up on DVD. Did I think it was good enough to warrant a trip to the theater? Not really, I could have waited for it on DVD. In fact, I didn't even purchase any popcorn for this movie.

Next up... "Matrix: Reloaded" on IMAX, and "The Hulk"

Yeah, I could have waited for the DVD to arrive also. Being a movie for kids, there were tons and tons of little kids there. The crying didn't annoy me as much as the kid kicking my chair did. Oh well, it was worth it.

Interesting.... I hope this doesn't inspire a rash of people looking to buy that particular fish (especially if you know how tropical fish are actually obtained.)

And I still haven't seen it yet, but might not have even thought of that anyway.
How was the CG? Better than other CG movies (FF:Spirits within, Toy story 2, Shrek, and Monsters Inc.) or was it on par with what is already out there?

I haven't seen Spirits within but the anime was maybe a slight step up from Shrek and Monsters Inc. I think this movie was along the lines of someone had a hankering to do an undersea adventure. Someone as Disney whipped up a script and PIXAR made it happen.

I've always joked with my wife that she's got all these beautiful fish in different tanks, and I can't cook any of them. When first commenting on that, she lectured me on how the fish are obtained. Needless to say with those chemicals it's a wonder that the Reefs can live at all.

OK, I finally saw it and it was pretty good. Not Shrek good, but better than any other movie I've seen lately (Although X2 was pretty good.)
It had quite a bit to overcome as a comedy after what happens in the first 5 minutes of the movie... *shudders*

I saw it again with my girlfriend.
I noticed a lot of movies that they were purposely copying, such as "The Shining" when the shark is chasing them and pokes his head through the door and says "Here's Brucey!"
Also Ocean's Eleven when the fish who always wants to escape tells them the escape plan. Anybody find any others?

i've seen the trailer... and its really awesome. i cant believe fishes can have their own emotions.
however, they say toy story and monsters inc. is much better than finding nemo.

Wow, old thread.

Saw it a few weeks ago, and it is awesome! The graphics are just amazing, and always being a sucker for kids movies like this I was excited to go see it.

The seagulls are just the best, matematematemate
