Ok, I used the link in post 1 & couldn't figure it out, then I found a simpler installer & it had a million bugs in FieFox even though its suppose to be the full version. Oh well, I'll try your link instead of using stupid MSN explorer because IE wont open.

Ok, musn't have been a full installation even though it was almost the same as the one you gave me Duck. It's working now.

same here

The Nightly Tester Tools extension makes incompatible extensions compatible (well, at least 80% of them).

thanks Duck:)

:odd:

You just go to Mozilla's website and download it here, then you just install it like any other program...

thanks Duck:)

edit: damn Firefox 2.0 won't let me use the imageshack toolbar:(

edit2: it won't let me use my favourite theme either:(

that's it i'm switching back to 1.5:grumpy:

I finally used FF 2.0 on Windows, and it seemed a little more stable that its Linux counterpart. I'm assuming it had something to do with the different versions of Flash.

One thing I didn't like, however, are the new icons. I've been using the Human theme on Ubuntu...

...and I didn't realize how bad the new default icon theme until I switched. :yuck:

I downloaded FF 2.0 yesterday... I really love the close button on each tab. Ever since FF came out, I will not go back to IE because of FF's tabs feature. The spell checker is really neat too but I haven't really seen it in action quite yet.

Technically, you could always close like that. You just had to middle click the tab. Now, of course, you just have the 'X'.

...Or you could've installed the Tab Mix Plus extension. That puts the Xs on the tabs too.

I like, and still use, middle-click. No extension needed.

I don't like how alt+S is not mapped to the history menu. So you can't use it to activate the post button anymore. I did that a lot and now it's not possible. 👎

I'm actually thinking of going back to 1.5 just because of that. Not to mention the color tabs, session savior, etc. :)

I just pressed alt+s and the history menu dropped down. What happens for you?

Now that all my extensions are working, life is good on the laptop, however on my Dual-Core AMD machine, Firefox locks up on launch quite often. Other than that, seems to be awesome!

That's exactly what happens! In the other versions of FF it wasn't mapped to anything and it's the default shortcut to "submit reply" in VB and many other forum softwares.

Oh i see. With it being in the menu bar, i'd guess there is no way to turn it off.

As it turns out, you can....

Open up a new Window/Tab and type “about:config” in the address bar.
In the Filter bar type: “ui.key.contentAccess” and press enter.
Double click the item and change the value from 5 to 4.

He goes on to mention that he's not sure what this might break, as far as I can see it simply allows any alt-(something) shortcut on a webpage to take priority over the menu shortcuts.

If you don't fancy messing with about:config, all is not lost - Shift-Alt-S should work as Alt-S used to - just a case of learning a new shortcut.

The issue has already been raised at Mozilla - see http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Feature_Brainstorming:History#General_History_UI_improvements

[/geek] ;)

edit - Shift-Alt-S does indeed work, I used it to submit this reply

gregc, thanks a lot!

I used that config fix to use alt+s to post this message. :D

Ive noticed something now while using this version of Firefox. I used to sample tracks a lot on Amazon but now when I click on a track to listen it says done at the bottom but the track doesn't play. Ive also tried on IE but the windows media player thing doesn't even appear:confused:
Can anyone help?

When you go to watch videos played in a WMP window, do they work?

I had such a problem and spent ages trying to find a fix. ended up downloading the new WMP, but I can't remember if I did anything else after that.

Try it and if it doesn't work, I'll see what I can find.

-edit-

here's a little something if you can't find anything else: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213

Well it seems 2007 is the year for everything to go tits up for me.
First the pc dies, now I've got a problem on my laptop.

The problem is if there's any sort of text entry boxes firefox just freezes, if i type something or just sit and wait, it'll still freeze. This makes using google and forums impossible. So right now I'm posting this using Opera.

I've tried uninstalling it, reinstalling it. uninstalling it, deleting the folder from my C hard drive and deleting any evidence of mozilla and firefox from the registry. But STILL firefox remembers eeeeverything, it even asks if i want to restore my last session, damn the creators and their efficiency.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on how to stop firefox being completely retarded?
I'd appreciate the help as I don't really want to have to change my browser.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

If Firefox remembers everything, then you haven't deleted all traces of the application. I'm assuming you're using Windows XP; the preferences are located in a hidden folder, so you will have to enable viewing of hidden files and folders.

Tools > Folder Options > View > "Show hidden files and folders"

I believe the Firefox folder you are looking for is located within the folder Application Data. Hope that helps.

I'll try this out thanks.

I was told to try out tuneup utilities, but that didn't fix it, hopefully there might be more luck with this.
