Not so sure about the rear end. Still looks better then that revolting Scaglietti though.

Butt ugly, especially those wheels, they just look cheap. Still slower than main competition according to those incomplete specs, namely the Gallardo and the Ford GT, and it'll cost a bunch more, as usual with Ferrari.

OMG! It looks better then the 360 Modena!

That isn't hard to do...

Strange photos, the car isn't entirely real, right? Parts of it have obviously been made using computer software. Same as the original photos of the 612 Scaglietti - that didn't look real either.

First impressions are that it's a messy design, I liked the 360 way more. Looking at it in greater detail, it's actually quite horrible. There are way too many cues from other cars (non-Ferrari) in it. Porsche in the front bumper, Lamborghini in the side air ducts (brakes) and thin headlamps. Those upper air intakes are really crude too and the air splitter between the front air intakes is hideous, like a tacky afterthought.

The only bit I really like are the gorgeous wing mirrors, with the F40esque imprint on them. Lovely!

But in general, no, not a fan at all. Are you sure theses pictures are official? I will more than likely be seeing it at the Shanghai GP in September and cars always look better in the 'flesh'. Until then though, yuck!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also like the subtle nods to the Enzo, in the rear and those underbody aerodynamics parts look exsquisite.

I'd accept one for free of course, but if I had to pay, they can keep it...

So the car is called the Ferrari F430? I apologize for my "Ferrari 420 Modena" comments.

Anyhow, I'm proud this car finally has a good amount of horsepower, and I'd love to see this take on the Porsches in the GT Class. Or like down here locally, hope Risi Competizione will be able to make the most of this car and take on the Alex Jobs and Flying Lizards and Racer's Groups in sportscar racing. I didn't like the Enzo much, but the rear of the car doesn't really take away. I like the 360 Modena's rear slightly more.

Anyhow, the horsepower as well as some of the better stying speaks the loudest volumes for me. Ferrari is, was, and still one of the most well-recognized sports cars other than Porsches. And the F430 looks to continue that, even if the Enzo hasn't done that already. Love to see it in Ferrari Challenge as well. Knowing Ferrari, the engine should produce a glorious sound. My comments stated. Now Ferrari, kick Porsche ass for Ferrari red (not to say I dislike Porsche)!

look, a mocked-up modena!
eek. ugly. certainly better-looking than the damned scaglietti, but ugly.

I don't have a problem with the 612 Scaglietti. I seen it at the Houston Auto Show, and it was one of the "cars so cool that you don't deserve to get into the car and get behind the wheel to see what it's like behind the wheel" cars. In other words, the doors were locked. Anyhow, the Scaglietti seems to be a rival to luxury cars, as I'm told. I don't know if Ferrari is trying to go way outside their image of producing cars outside of track-pwning Italian machinery, but I still have respect for Ferrari even though Michael Schumacher wins almost every single race for the past... 4, 5, 7 years.

I guess I wanted to break what would have been a trail. Anyhow, carry on.

In my July or August issue of MOTOR it said that it was the new 360 Modena or something like that, I forget.

I don't know why everyone doesn't like it, I love the way it looks! Same for the Scaglietti. The F430 looks the way a sports car should look. Low, sleek, and above all, FAST. I hope the handling figures can stand up to this car's impressive acceleration numbers, 0-60 in 3.9s and 0-100 in 9.2s with a top speed of 196mph is quite impressive, as we should expect from Ferrari!

👍

flowing lines of the ferrari have nothing on the purposeful stance of a porsche mean machine....a gt3 costs 50-60 thousand less and will spank it on a track any day of the week, twice on Sunday

How can you compare the price and performance of the two cars when nobody has reported on the car's price and performance (aside from acceleration, which is superior to the GT3 RS's).

I was actually comparing it too the 360, which it is replacing....this car will be more expensive that the current 360, also, they estimate a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds...gt3 got 4 seconds with 100 less horsepower.....

What's so great about this car?
It's just a Ferrari. I hate Ferraris , they got the same color (red) on each car

I didn't say I hated it, Ev0. It's about as lovely as the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada (unless you want to rat out on your hometown about the F430). Someone said it looked like three Ferraris into one. Well, let me see if I can validate that.

360 Modena - after all, it has to be better than the best modern Ferrari you can afford
575 Maranello - it has that look to it at the rear
Enzo - dead giveaway: taillights

I'd have to disagree with "three Ferraris into one" with this one:

612 Scaglietti - the headlights look as low as these.

So it's FOUR Ferraris into one, but one new car. Want to shell out your two cents? Give out your one reply. Okay, I'm done playing with numbers. I'm done here.

PASTA Rocket? Oh, boy. More informal labels to cars? What are you going to call that supercar from Morrocco? An "African Rocket?" Good Lord...

The engine in this car is just a tuned up version of the engine from Maserati 4.2 Coupe. It is interesting how ferrari has only 490hp, considering the cars main competition, Ford GT and Lamborghini Gallardo, both have more than that. But, considering that 575M has 515HP, it makes more sense. They can't really have a more powerful engine in a cheaper model. Strange situation. :)
