Should I stay or should I go now?

I voted wheel. If you've already been to Thailand and will be living there in a few years time I don't think it's too important to go now, right? Might take a reasonable amount of persuading your missus to come around to this way of thinking though.....

I'd be too gutted when I got back from Thailand to the realization I've just blown all my money on that when I could have had a brand new sim right in front of my eyes :p

I say wheel, even though DS3 is better :sly: For me, nothing beats the great nights on GT5 with lots of buddies, close racing, and all that stuff. I may be a gaming nerd, but I have an opinion too. :)

I voted wheel, but have you considered drug-dealing to make some money?

One of my favourite preachings.

"Do I take the peanut or the 20 dollar bill?"

"20 dollar bill buys multiple peanuts"

Actually, you might get in trouble for drug-dealing, but remember, money buys peanuts.👍

No discussion of illegal activities. Unless you're in Amsterdam. Far as I know, it's only brothels that are kosher in Thailand. Not officially, but they're recognized. But we're not going there, either.

Oh good, agreed, I was worried you were going to go with a non-oriental airline, that would be a complete disaster :D

Someone needs to start a Filipino airline in my opinion. (I have not heard of any)

Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, Zest Air... depends on where you're coming from... only Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines run international flights, and not to all markets. Considering what garbage Terminal 1 is (worst.bathrooms.in.the.world), it makes sense to fly out to Singapore or Japan first then take a connecting flight via Philippine Airlines to Manila just so you get to use the nicer Terminal 2.

But then, best is to fly to Cebu or Subic Bay then on to your tourist destination of choice (Hundred Islands (lovely), Palawan (nature-ey), Boracay (white sands... though it's terribly overcrowded), Bohol (of the Chocolate Hills) or even Cebu itself. Don't stay in Manila. It's a cockroach-infested hellhole. And I'm saying that from experience.

Looks like Thailand is winning and it's something I'm starting to favour more now after reading some good posts in this thread.

Mrs Shem would like me to go but realises that it's my choice. She did mention a few nights in Bangkok so that might sway me.

Excellent. I myself am being nagged into going to a trip to europe for a couple of months and the person in question isn't getting the hint that not only will I not be stopping in Singapore on the way, but I'll be going no further than the Philippines. muahaha. However thanks for the protips on flight path, I guess I'll have to do Singapore after all. I was just hoping I could cut to the chase.

I guess I'll look at those places plus anywhere mid-to-north, since terrorists be a kidnappin' in the south these days.

Well my choice has been made thanks to the handy poll.

So if anyone else is having first world problems then carry on with the advice. I'm sure it happens to us often, this kind of thing, and it's nice to have others to help with the pros and cons. 👍

Congrats on deciding Shem!

Well my first world problems which I discovered last night are:

When I'm playing 3D Pinball Space Cadet and the two safety launches on the left and right bottom corners are used up so no matter which side the ball falls into it sends it out below the bumpers so you lose that ball. I can't take it...:scared:

That's exactly why I don't play that game unless I'm on a brand new PC and have nothing else to do.
