Now that weve figured out five things people might not know about you, lets figure out what people should know about you in order to really get a grasp at who you are as a person. The concentration here is on personality, beliefs, etc. the things that youve done to make you who you are. In other words, dont make a list of banal things like race, eye color, if youve had braces, blah blah blah, I dont care list what makes you an individual.
Starting off:
1 First and foremost, Im an Objectivist. You cant really know who I am and why I think the way I do unless you know this once you do know this though, then Im as predictable as Porsches design studio. Why do I hate Social Security? Because Im an Objectivist. Why am I a registered Libertarian? Because Im an Objectivist. Why do I have an enormous amount of respect for James Randi and Penn Jillette? Because Im an Objectivist. Why do I buy all of my music? Because Im an Objectivist.
2 Im not a temperamental person at all, or at least I dont ever show it. There are times when I will complain about something in fact, I complain quite a bit but I very very very rarely get truly angry. In fact, the last time I ever angrily yelled at somebody was eight years ago (thats how rare it is for me I can vividly remember it).
Part of the reason for this is that my mom is very temperamental, which always upset me; my entire day could be ruined just because she decided to have a fit about something not involving me at all. Nothings worse than living with someone who might inexplicably explode at any second. I always thought this collateral damage effect was completely unfair, so I make it a point to never get angry at somebody unless they actually deserve it.
3 Having said that, even though I make it a point to always be in a cheerful mood, I have a hard time being gregarious with strangers or with people I only sorta-kinda know. I can put on a sincere-looking smile like you wouldnt believe, but inwardly Im never comfortable in those kinds of situations. Part of it is because I was an only child and raised in a non-neighborhood neighborhood (i.e., my friends were over ten miles away), so sociability was never high on my priority list. Again, I can put up a great front, but inside Im thinking Just let me get through this without embarrassing myself
4 And on that note, since I spent most of my hours to myself, I developed quite a fondness for Lego. That, coupled with my Objectivism, is probably why I love the maths and sciences so much. On a related note, when I was about 5 years old, I remember thinking I want to be a scientist when I grow up. Over the next dozen years, I cycled through wanting to be a car designer to wanting to be an entomologist to wanting to be a teacher to wanting to be an architect to wanting to be a UI designer, but now Ive cycled back to wanting to be a scientist (specifically, a bioengineer). Guess my intuition at five years of age was pretty good.
5 Im very, shall we say, precise? I stress over every single pixel in my avatars, Im very picky about grammar, theres a clear amount of order to my room, I always feel like I have to understand concepts in great depth, I worry if I put just a tad too much load on the clutch, etc.
So, what about you?
