Just an idea, but might the racing wheel subforum not be a better place to discuss explodin bearings in a Fanatec wheel? More knowledgable people there, too, I'd assume.

But, I've also never heard of a bearing (or any part of a bearing) exploding without some sort of explosive being added. Usually, they'll just grind and stop working at some point if they fail.

Dunno, but I'd be suprised if Fanatec creates their bearings out of Semtex or something along those lines :D

@ Luminis:

So you have no problems with any Forza game? Awesome possum. Race on, dood. 👍
Can't you read, or don't you want to read? What is it that's blinding you if you can't see size 7 red, underlined, italic, bold text?

I mean, Jesus, you can't be this ignorant without trying.

For example: My main gripes with FM3:
1) AWD dominance. Even offline, I feel like I'm not giving it my all unless I'm driving an AWD car. Sucks.
2) Widened 'Ring. I'm a 'Ring nut, so that sucks, too.

My main gripes with GT5:
1) Standard cars. Self explanatory.
2) Almost all features being half-assed. Self explanatory as well.

Is it that hard to understand that the flaws that GT5 has are hitting me just that much harder? Sure, Forza has its flaws and they annoy me. But that's it, they just annoy me. In the case of GT5, its flaws are showstoppers for me.

So, both games have flaws to me. GT5 has showstopping flaws (in my opinion).

I know you can't/won't/are not willing to comprehend that. Fine. Carry on with your ignorant act. I for one am done with that silly game of yours.

Maybe I should be a little more more precise with my words next time. I'll note that people take things to literally sometimes...

When you post on a forum where all we have is your words, literally is the only way we can take them ;)

That was like a half year ago and haven't sold my 360 yet. It's been sitting dormant for probably 3/4's of a year though.

Kinda like my PS3.

Got annoyed paying for Live. I already pay for internet. Paying to play on internet that I pay for doesn't seem very fair to me.

Luckily, you are not paying just to access internet. It's a service above and beyond internet connectivity that costs millions to operate.

not to mention the 2 extra 360's I had to buy because of the RLOD

I am on my 3rd PS3 because of the YLOD.

Most FM3 cockpits are pretty much fully functional (except quite a few buggy ones). Of course rev meters and tachometers work, but fuel gauges work, digital clocks display the current time (IRL), miles/kph counters display race distance (and total distance but with a bug which randomize it every race start), gears displays work when available, boost gauges work, basically every thing that is simulated by the game is displayed (so no oil pressure/temp for example). They even have a randomized temperature display (external air temp completely random each time, but in line with typical temperatures of track location, just not synced online, yeah I even tested that :P).

Most GT5 cockpits only have rev meters, tachometers, and boost gauges working. Some have working clocks displaying the in-game time, or gears displays, but none of them have working fuel gauges. Well, none that I tested of course. And that's pretty much it, nothing really fancy I tell you. Even the GT-R's MFD is quite basic.

Yeah, thanks! I just wasn't aware of the GT cockpits not having working fuel gauges. That is fail.

@TenaciousD.
I haven't heard to much about it taking that long to upload photos. I uploaded photos just about a month ago and each one only took a couple seconds. :odd:

You don't have issues, like the rest of us, because they patched and repaired it.

Still, questioning my credibility on events that happened in front of me that you are reading about, sounds to me like you were calling me out. Of course i'm going to defend my own credibility.

You can't defend what you don't have.

Don't bother with him Luminis. He is just doing what he does best at this release....similar to shinny.

There's ignorance on both sides. I'm too lazy to look it up. But it's evident.

Because you try to call me out even though you don't know anything about me. Not really a good move don't you think?
Why not? He thinks he has a theory. This is playing out like an old Columbo episode. I'm sitting here ....

And what if i'm from Jersey. They use curse words in every sentence.
Wow, dumb statement.

edit: And it wouldn't be too out of place to be defensive against myself... let alone the amount of people defending a certain video game in this thread.

People are allowed to "defend" as you put it. The is the FM vs GT thread, not the "shhiny48 vs logic" thread

Yeah, thanks! I just wasn't aware of the GT cockpits not having working fuel gauges. That is fail.
I agree.

It's not a big deal in most single player events, as there is no tire wear or fuel consumption in, well, most of 'em. But it's *very* annoying when you play without HUD and there *is* fuel consumption, like, you know, when playing online. Of course, for short races it's not that big of a deal. It's just, I dunno, I mean, that's the kind of detail that really bothers me, because it seems so ... basic. It's not really a showstopper, just the kind of detail that adds up and adds up and leaves a really bad taste in your mouth.

Listen as release date gets nearer there's going to be a lot of Tom, Dick and Shiny's in here boys.

Party starts in two weeks and there's going to be a lot of gate crashers.
Hopefully the bouncers(mods) will chuck em out if they get too loud.

It's been quite peaceful as of late. After the initial release date. Give it a few months and it should quieten down.

Until Forza 5. Lol

Better baton down the hatches.

First rank "FIRE"
Second rank "FIRE"

Etc etc etc etc.......

Lucky this forum isn't GT5 otherwise we'd get 20-30 seconds from the time you click a button to something actually happening

But seriously, the mods do have a point here.

Total entertainment while it lasted. Mitch you cracked me up. You are a pressure cooker.

Ok back on topic. One thing I can say both GT and FM do bad is make a racing game. I am talking about a proper race, with rules, flags, quali laps, grid penalties.

I still dont get why F1 and to some extent Race Pro can do them right, yet 2 big name flagship car titles cant seem to implement that. Is it really hard for that system? F1 2011 did it very well, with a saftey car even.

My one big gripe about both.

I'm pretty sure that Fanatec sources the bearings they use in their wheels from bearing suppliers, and likewise motors, and all other tid bits internally. If anything 'exploded' it was premature bearing failure (i.e. bearing seized up, FFB motor powerful enough to basically rip it apart) or something else within the motor assembly/shaft connection/etc that caused the bearing to fail, if the bearing failed. If there's wires cut up shhiny, I'd guess that a shift in movement with motors there caused the failure, similar to the 2 trannies I had the dif shift slightly causing the main shafts to punch a hole out the tranny housing and 'grenade' the gears, including the final drive that got broken in half. The FFB motor by the gears/pulleys probably are what got loose to the point that carnage happened and the wires fell in the path of destruction. Not saying you're lieing but I think you're wrong on the bearing exploding is what I'm getting at. I also don't know what kind of bearing they used, roller? journal? etc..
Sucks it happened though but if under warranty Fanatec should have replaced your dead wheel with a new one as it sounds like something failed internally.

I'm with you on that. At least you can fake a qualifying with FM3 with the lobby point system in private matches. But no flags , rules etc is not cool

No really, stay on topic people. Take the off-topic chatter to The Rumble Strip.

It would be cool if they did this but I always assumed it was because neither game is affiliated witha racing series.
