Any guesses when PD is planning for the release of DLC? What would be more "strategic/successfull"? Releasing DLC during or after the release of FM4.

How's "Never" sound to you?

The following may surprise a few (and horrify many) but one of the cars I was most pleased to see as a premium was the Mazda Autozam AZ-1. Amazing little car and great fun to drive both in stock form and modified form.

It gets a 👍 from me.

The Autozam was suprisingly fun, yeah - I've got to admit, I enjoyed it after upgrading it to hell and back again
For that kind of stuff, K-Cars are nice, yeah. Generally speaking, I wouldn't mind a fistful of them, as long as the other classes got a few nice additions, too, to keep things balanced.

In America, if you have a RS chances are it's not a daily.
Maybe thats just us since it wasnt sold here.
Nowadays, I think you'll be hard pressed to find one used as a daily in Europe, too, but I doubt that it was a collectors car in the 90's ;)

Strategically, it would be wise to release DLC before and after FM4's launch. On the other hand, it would've been a very good decision to release DLC already, to take a bit of FM4's thunder away, but PD didn't - which, to me, isn't all that suprising. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if DP didn't release DLC at all. If they didn't do so in the first nine months after release, I can hardly see them releasing it at all.

Chances are, they've moved on already.

Well, it depends which Escort were talking about. I know theres a late 90's model thats about as much of a daily driver as a Camry.

The Escort was a daily driver in Europe from the 1960s to 2003......

....the performance versions (Mexico, RS, etc) were limited runs, but as a car the Escort was the biggest selling car in the UK for a very long time.

Those races are pretty weak in GT5, even with a really evenly competitive car. In my opinion the races in GT4 were so much better, but nothing tops an actual race with real people with similar skills and similar cars. With that combination, it's hard not to have fun. Unfortunately, there are very few rooms that actually run Kei car races, so I kind of have to forget about them and race in more common cars (which are by no means less fun to race).

I would urge you to give them more of a chance, but just doing that is very difficult with the way GT5 is set up. Oh well though, It's still nice that they're there, and occasionally I get a chance to use them in a competitive race. Just posting this inspires me to open a room for Kei cars, though I doubt many would join.

Racing some kei cars around a tight track with mates irl would be ace fun, but in GT5, in my opinion, the complete lack of a sense of speed or being 'on the edge' made kei (and anything not moderate in perfomance) cars a complete and utter bore.

Actually most cars can do 100mph at ease without much issue of wear and tear, just a matter if you have a safe road or not. Cars run better if you thrash in once in a while. 👍

We are going off topic here :sly:

I agree but Kie cars were fun on Citta di Aria and Costa di Amalfi. The narrowness of those tracks made low end cars a blast. Even 500r's. On World tracks they were just dull and the engine sounds did not help. However 800hp turbo lagged cars on Costa di Amalfi were a waste of time.

GT2 , the original Motor land was a go kart track and was ok for sub 60hp cars. FM did not have well designed small tracks, they were just bad in my opinion. Ebisu in Shift is the best small track I've ever used in a racing game.

True. I recognize that the lack of narrow and windy tracks (and without excessively long straights) in GT5 like those you mentioned doesn't help people enjoying those cars. Track lists focusing mainly on real life, FIA-approved tracks wouldn't help either.

By them skipping the Standard tracks from GT4, they made a mistake. In GTPSP those track were my most used ones.

I loved the narrow windy tracks of GT4.

I LOVE the Amalfi Coast tracks in Forza :)

Also, whilst we're talking about tracks, I despise the fact that Mt. Panorama (Bathurst) isn't in Forza. Sure, T10 get V8 Supercars, but don't include the track. I might go get SHIFT 2 simply for the fact it has Bathurst.

...Again, I say: so much Aussie neglect.

I've heard EA have the Bathurst licence.

Its odd huh? To play the V8's you have to play Forza, to have some fun at Bathurst, you have to play S2. Both fun in their own right, but wish they both had the cars and tracks...

Got a source? I don't think so, for one, I don't think Bathurst is specifically licensed to anyone. I mean, just last year, didn't Codemasters have it in GRID? Before that there was "TOCA Race Driver" (or whatever), a bit of searching turned up that apparently last year SIM BIN has some sort of license... Now SHIFT has it.

I really doubt Forza would pick up the rights to a couple V8 Supercars and NOT put the track in. But ... it happened, so, something stopped it.

I haven't raced V8 Supercars on Bathurst in a game for so long. :(

EDIT: A lot more searching and it appears my assumption was correct. Codemasters have the current license to the "official" V8 Supercars series, which it why Forza only had a couple of the teams. However - and a part oversight on my behalf - Bathurst (or to be more specific, Mount Panorama) is a public road, it is not a closed circuit, so I believe no one has, nor can license the "track", only the likeness (i.e. the series or branded representation, for example the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 - or whoever owns it now)... Which means, Turn 10 should be able to make the track and just put certain V8's on it, just not the entire series.

Gaming enthusiast: "GT5? Screw that, I'm playing Forza 'cause ALL their cars are 'premium.'"
Car and Gaming enthusiast: "GT5 has 200 cars, Forza has 500...I'm playing the one with 500+."

I'm a car lover before I'm a game lover...so...And I might be getting a job at Best Buy and you can be sure, FM4 and a 360 are gonna be my first purchases from there. :)

So how did you skip Forza 3? That was a no brainier seeing it had EVERY car I love..... ...except for the buzz kill Pagani line up.

Sagaris
CTS-V first and second Gen
Jaguar XF-R
M6
E63
S5

I have Forza 3. I bought the Ultimate Collection. I just don't have a Xbox to play it on at the moment. :P

We've been down this route with regard to the Cote track in the GT series and while you are correct that its a public road its still owned and maintained by someone (I would suspect a local government body) and as such you would need permission from them to use it. I would be quite surprised if they didn't charge you for it.

Even then that would just be the public road, the moment you put up advertising hoardings, tyre walls, add in a start finish line, pits, etc; you no longer have a public road you have a race track. Now your in a situation that would almost certainly require the correct licence if you want to avoid a legal battle.

That's why the Cote track in GT is set in France (not Monaco) and is different enough to not be the Monaco track (even if it almost is). Certainly T10 could do this for Bathurst, as a number of 'fantasy' tracks in both series come close to real world tracks already.

Thanks Bogie. Luckily, I found a list that sorted the cars by PI, so it was relatively easy to figure the numbers out.

Just for a visual impression, here's a quick graph:

Seems pretty balanced, i was wrong then.

Amazing physics. Really amazing.

Sorry if it's been posted before.

Bugs like that happen in every game (in PC sims even more), just look in YouTube for "Forza 3 glitch". You can do crazy stuff in FM3 too.

They have a ready-made interpretation of Bathurst in Blue Mountains from FM1 and as far as we know, it isn't coming back, so they have got around the licensing issue before by making a track with the 'essence' of Bathurst. I miss Blue Mountains.

Nothing like the real deal though... Bathurst is just epic. I wish they could get it into FM4... As much as I liked Shift 2, just like Porsche, it feels like a bit of waste too appear in these games only...

I know there's a crazy huge amount of videos out there showing all sorts of unrealistic physics glitches/fails happening in the Forza games but this is my personal favourite just because it makes me picture Darth Vader sat in one of the stands being a complete jackass

Oh and by the way, for people discussing Bathurst in Forza and how they could go about getting the track in the game, did any of you own the first Forza game? Forza 1 on the original Xbox had a track called Blue Mountains Raceway which was based heavily on Bathurst. I really have no idea why they haven't brought that track back to the series to be honest, I know a lot of fans miss it. Here's a video in case anyone wanted to see:

I believe it was already mentioned a few times. Also, Blue Moutains was very loosley based on Mt Panorama. So loose, it left out many of the epic turns that make Bathurst awesome.

Maybe they will surpirse us with the real deal...nobody can say for sure until its official, right?
