I agree nitro there was some special conditions that needed to be addressed because of the lag and with all my testing during the week prior to the race and during the meet and greet race there will be NO DAMAGE TILL PD FIXES THIS horrible lag. I only see it in full rooms with damage on.

My recording equipment is not working properly. So I will not be able to provide last nights race for you all. I have RMA'ed the device. Should be working for next week.

and if I may quote Mark Martin, "This ain't racin'" :)

Well said...and great quote...one of my favorite drivers. We will have many great races...we were just running 20 lap shootouts today with no spins or lag most of the guys that run with us know how to adjust to the conditions....But thats why we run events like this, to figure this stuff out.
I agree though it was great running with you and look forward to the start of the season.

Kind of sucks no damage, Gtuuk when you create your room what are your settings, race quality and voice chat quality ?

I played in some full damage rooms last night...clean for the most part, the rooms were capped @ 12 players though, not sure if this had anything to do with it. the game still had the ocasional studder...almost always in the same spots on the track coming out of the corners 1 and 2 and 3 and 4....weird.

Did a 200 lapper last night with no damage and it was very fun. Pit strategy comes in to effect, so everybody ends up in different packs, and working together. There was only a couple spins the whole race, mostly due to tires. There was 12 of us.

Yeah. No damage is a bummer.

And something ive been thinking about since fri... Is it really necessary for all of us to be on mics? It may effect the performance of the room and, in my opinion anyway, it does much more harm than good. Especially when you have people calling each other aholes because, shock, going into a turn 3 wide at 220mph didn't work out.

Maybe just having Gtukk, Chad, and who ever the steward is, be mic'd would be a more efficient system. Just my .02 cents.

Great idea....I usualy mute mine but it does help to be able to communicate with other drivers. Maybe just stricter enforcement of the comm rule and keep chatter exclusively to calling other drivers clear and pit calls. We are all adults...imagine if Kevin Harvick could actualy talk directly to Kyle Busch during a race....What would that sound like? Emotions run high during a heated race. We just need to know when to hit the mute button and vent, it feels just as good.

Very high on both fuzz I know it kinda sucks with no damage trust me i want them on too,but when we have to drive like were are on egg shells thats really no fun and in the end I really want us to have fun. To be honest damage on isnt real anyway you can just fix it in the pit and its just cosmetic. In Nascar 2003 if ya got damage it stayed with you the entire race you could hear your pit crew banging it out with hammers but it still slowed your car. I will continue to have cautions and if i get more than 20 people trying to show up on race night we will have the bud shootouts.

Ok fair enough, at the end of the day it's your decision.

I don't know at all how it actually works, but to me it seems that the lower the voice quality, the less bandwidth it will take, therefore less lag (hopefully). We could try voice quality on medium or lower, and so long as we can still understand each other, it should help connections.

Are races on Tuesdays or Fridays? I can't make this one yet again :(. So i'm out.

FND is Friday night.

SCANA ATM is Tuesday night.

:)

I just wanted to comment on the race last Friday. Damage is a great thing, it allow us to make things more realistic. And keeps the driving less aggressive. However, when we got 16 drivers and lag/wrap issues it doesn't help us. It hurts the racing.

At one point through the racing I had a driver upset with me because I was trying to pass on the high side. Although I totally understand where he was coming from; at the same time, this is racing. Would have a agree with Gtuuk. Damage is poison to the racing right now. Until we can get into situation where we lag less with damage on, we have to keep it off.

This is something I will be implementing in SCANA.

Another observation from Friday.
Driving line, and smoothness. I saw this trend where we could start on the yellow line, but then we merged up to a mid track... I know it is something we will get better at, but try keep on the yellow line all the way through the turn.

I wanted to reiterate something Gtuuk said Friday. "We are not professionals" <--- damn right! During the race, I noticed a lot of voice chatter. Some of you got real intense, and obnoxious with other drivers. That is not necessary, it really is not. When someone cut you off, or almost hits you mid turn...ect All that is needed is a simple..."Driver A, inside" or "driver B im outside..."

Also, when you get into an accident there is no need for..."F...not again...this is B..S..." If you do not have constructive comments to aire, then please keep them to yourself. Help Gtuuk or myself call cautions, or sort out the confusion by keep the aire ways clear of profanity.

I cannot wait to try it again next week. And not let myself get 4 laps down because I ran out of gas.. lmao

See you soon

Might not be a bad idea to get some more seat time with each other throughout the week. I typically race with a couple small bunches of guys who are used to each other and having fun, and I noticed we don't get all hot and bothered over wrecks - it happens, and we're having fun anyway. The big weekly race is of course going to be a bit more intense and serious, but I would imagine it would help to lower the tension if we knew each other a bit better.

I strongly encourage for everyone to race with each other during the week. Other than tuesday nights I host private rooms for all of you to come on in and I promise it is some of the best tona racing in gt5. 2 wide 8 rows back :nervous: And its very laid back racing no cautions no rules except the yellow line rule

Agree with all of this.

I'm open to giving no damage a shot, even though I think, in a perfect world, it would add to the experience. There was a good 10 or 20 lap stretch on Friday where everything seemed to click. But, overall, it is hard to defend with so many people in a room, racing so close, going so fast, with lag.

But, I would also like to maybe give the limited mic option a try. Not only to, possibly, improve the performance of the room, but also to improve the atmosphere of the races. I don't enjoy listening to people being berated by other racers for situations that are literally, accidents.

And, maybe I'm the only one, but I really don't get any benefit from it. I can see calling for pits stops, but when someone says "driver B low side..." I have no idea who that is or where they are. I'm too busy trying to hold my line to figure out where a specific driver is. It doesn't help that there's no indication of who's talking on the screen.

If I'm slower than someone, I maintain my line (as best as I can. :)), so, they can pass when they get the safe opportunity.

If I'm faster than someone, I wait, many laps sometime, to get a safe passing chance... which means not in a turn.

And, I keep track of my map, all of which are more useful, to me, than trying to figure out who, out of 14 racers, just said they're going high.

Again, just my opinion, I'm sure it will get better with practice. People just need to remember that its just a game, in the end.

Well said, Funny how most of us in the room friday night had raced each other in the weeks before, We all get a bit angry sometimes but like in the previous post' it is a game, some take it a bit more serious than others and IMO it showed some friday night . belive me i was frustraded because all the wrecks i keep getting into. Suck it up' bite the bullet or how ever you wanna say it' just don't loose you're temper during the race

Hey Gtuuk I think you should run some test were you change your mic quality settings to lowest and then try setting your race quality to next one under highest quality.......
O yea and Chad when you ran out of gas and Gtuuk say "RAN OUT OF GAS?" I about fell out of my racing seat LMAO...

Same man, I was worried about the race...not my race lol

So, I noticed I was taken of Gtuuk and Welda's friend list so as not to be able to race this Friday. Was I really that bad. This was the first time I have ever raced in this type of environment and thought I did very well. Was it my comment about steril racing. If so, sorry for honesty. I enjoyed last Friday and did not break any rules. That being said...I guess qualifying and then coming in 5th makes me unworthy. Very sad about that. I thought all in all it was a good time. But then again, I guess I was not the racer you expect me to be. Hope to be in this Friday, but if not... Good luck and be careful not to be to aggressive. I tend to like good competition as long as it's fair. Fair....in and out of the race!!!!

Hey gtuuk I would love to get in on the next FND. Are these events still open to newcomers or will i have to wait until the end of the current SCANA series? I believe ive raced with you a few times already, but am more than willing to prove my driving ability before the event.
