I wonder how much time they spent on porting all of those cars into GT5 if it truly was built from scratch. They could have gone with 300 premium cars and scrapped the old stuff. I mean seriously! Do we need mini-vans? How many cars do you need

What are 'proper cars'? Oh, I get it, supercars? The game you're looking for is NFS Shift2, that'll be out soon.

lol, i have had the game since 24 november and i havent tested 10% of all cars yet in the game. more cars? Yeah, i think i am fine thanks :D

Umm, calm the hell down ?
GT5 came out in november, it's March. Most games don't have DLC for a couple months. I say if we'll get any, we'll start getting it in April or May.

Actually, the trend is that most games these days get DLC even before you can pick your copy up. Publishers fracture off missions/equipment/maps into DLC that would normally have just been part of the game, gouging us for more cash. (recent examples: Killzone 3, Dragon Age 2).
That PD haven't done this (and are on fact giving us new stuff on a weekly basis for no extra cost) is a huge mark in their favour.

If there were only 300 cars, people would had still complained. It would had been like "oh too less cars compared to previous GTs blah blah"

Yes, we need them to take awesome drift pictures, and showing people who try and fail in a supercar how to get round a track quickly.

Eat my mini van dust?

If some babies would stop throwing their cars out of the pram they would actually find they have a LOT of great things to play with.

DUDE!, there are over 1000 vehicles in the game...and you are complaining about wanting more? go away man.

I want more too, more events I mean :yuck: more visual damage quality and more and more. At least NFS Shift 2 is coming out by the end of the month, I'll take there what I miss in GT5 and TDU2 :dopey:

40% of the cars in this game are crap and you'll never consider using. Honda Fit, Volvos, etc

25% are cars that are cool and you just want to have, but will never use. Muscle cars, vintage cars, Transcammer, etc

25% are cars you may use once or twice then forget. Camaro SS, Any Skyline, etc

5% are cars you go nuts trying to get, use once or twice, then move on. F2007, 2J, Ford Mk IV

5% are cars you will use on a regular basis. X2010, ZR-1, Playstation Audi, etc.

That's assuming you have every car available, which is now impossible. Your mileage may vary. The argument that there are 1000 cars in the game doesn't work.

I agree that there are only about 5-10% cars that you use on a regular basis. None of the cars you listed are cars I use a lot though - so by having lots and lots of cars people can find their own favourite cars. My most used cars are the M3 '07, M3 CSL '02, Xanavi Nismo '06.

My only thing is that they put cars in the game that nobody will ever use. Couldn't they have spent more time on fun cars instead of a Japanese truck with 34 hp...... We really don't need those cars.

I understand development takes time, lets just hope that they are developing cars.........

to be honest i think they still trying to finish the game before they release dlc.
theres still a few features and bugs that need ironing out, i'd like to see more older cars from back in my 'boy racer' days, Ford XR2i (complete with pepperpot alloys) and XR3i, Vauxhall Nova, Renault 5, Cinquecento, Ford Capri, Astra 2000GTE they may not be the best or most glamourous cars but they were pretty popular in UK back in early-mid 90s

It does NOT take six months to model one car. I used to make planes for Flight Simulator that were a hell of a lot more complicated than this and while it took a while to do, they were a LOT more detailed than these cars are. Go look at the cockpit of an F-16 and think about modeling every knob, light, and decal you see. If I had to I could probably knock the mesh out for a car in a couple of weeks. Interior, maybe a couple more. Animations are going to be tweaking animations from other models for the most part and textures take a couple weeks TOPS.

That's with one person doing the work. Unless it has something to do with the physics (I doubt it) then 6 months is generous.

Completely agree. When I read that it took 6 months to model each car I was surprised. I have dabbled in 3D modeling and many times had to commissioned such work. In one good example we needed photo-realistic models of (a certain brands) digicams for both TV animation and for high res magazine work. We sent the cameras off and the job was completed to a staggering level of complexity, far higher than you see on a PS3, in less than two weeks. In fact you could not tell the difference between a photo and the renders, most people picked the renders when asked which was which. So I would say two weeks would be a good time scale if you had the car available to laser scan and photograph (remember not all will be from scratch). The rest of the time must be the physics and sound sampling and surely the 6 months is combined man-hours across a number of people.

"...and don't call me Shirley" ;)

Calm down guys, I do agree that I'd like to see DLC for GT5 or at least an upgrade of some standard models to premium which I think is one of the priority of PD right now, talking about DLC I hope that in some day we will see Porsche cars in the game, but who knows, and another thing I really hope they should do is to add tire degradation and fuel consumption in A-spec events at least in the championships, I haven't try the endurance races but I guess the feature is included...

The 90% crap you listed is the same 90% someone else bought the game for.

Just food for thought.

+1 There are dozens of other games out there where all you can drive is top of the line stuff. One of the reasons I have been a fan of the GT series since its inception, and the reason the series continues, is the ability to drive everyday cars.

Cars in the Gran Turismo franchise tend to be valued on historical importance rather than performance. It became somewhat obvious in GT4, but it exploded in GT5 (10,000,000 credits for a GIULIA? Come on.)

Not just a Giulia but an extremely rare handbuild raceversion called TZ2 of which only 14 were ever build.
That 10,000,000 might not be that far off from what a real one would cost as it's basically a baby-GTO in concept and even rarer.

👍 I'm glad someone said this.

There are too many people who are blindly sticking up for PD.

GT5 has problems and they need to be fixed

No there are people who just don't care and get on playing with the game.

Then there are those who don't take GT5 as seriously as others.

Though there are problems, PD has at least taken some steps to correct some issues. Or at least try to.

I'm not really bothered for new cars although it would be nice, :) I just want more real life tracks to race on like Road Atlanta, Siverstone and Spa ect. ;)

I don't take GT5 seriously because its a GAME. I take serious things seriously, not FUN things, like GT5.

And I (and thousands of other people) want more FUN in the form of more cars and more tracks. 200 new cars for a game of this profile is not enough. Period.

There were dozens of cars I fully expected to be in the newest iteration of my favourite game series, only to find that they weren't in and some utterly pointless cars were in. I'm not going to name them, but everyone knows which ones.

This 6 months per car is very misleading. It probably takes a team of 10 or so guys a week to model 1 or 2 cars. Maybe just one, but even so, unless they're planning on release a whole bunch of them in one go, how come they're not trickling them out every now and again ?

We're the customer here. Why shouldn't we expect DLC car packs ?

You want more cars to drive around in the same 🤬 up game, or you want the same cars to drive around in a game with competitive AI, full and consistent damage, 400 more events to drive around IN, leaderboards to compare the 1000+ cars you have, matchmaking to create competitive races for the cars you already have, consistent and effective penalties for unsportsmanlike race conduct, and the other myriad things to do with RACING currently missing from GT5?

Driving a different car in the same 🤬 up game simply doesn't appeal to me...

I wanna RACE! :banghead:

Wahaha, more cars? Yeah because you obviously already own 1000+ cars and have spent a day on each fine tuning the handling of each one to make it the best it can be.

Another punter who "just doesn't get it".

Please exit the GT forums immediately for such nonsensical statements.
