It looks just like the current F-150 if you ask me. I'd rather have the current Sierra over this. Hell, even the current Tundra.

I like that thought. An American company putting out a turbo V8!? It would be silly not to do this.

Even if they used the "weak" 340 BHP Twin-Turbocharged V6, I'd still be rather happy!

Did you forget to open your eyes before viewing this thread? The Toyota is recall'd up the ying yang as well as ugly and while the Sierra is much imrpoved the interior is still a bit lacking compared to the Ford in at least the look of it.

Well, the Sierra is going buh-bye anyway... The Crewman is due to replace it in the not too distant future. For that matter, rumors on GMI are saying that ALL GMC trucks will be Zeta-based. The Yukon, Yukon XL, all of it... Gone! That'll leave the Lambda-based Acadia, the Theta-based Terrain (will debut in Chicago, see Saturn VUE), and then the new Zeta-based Crewman and whatever they'd call the Yukon replacement.

All in the name of EPA figures!

(Yes, this fanboy did poop his pants when hearing it, I loves me some Zeta!)

Just a thought: Wouldn't it be cooler for Ford to build a smaller pickup with this money that can do the same thing instead of using the F-150? I mean, yeah, its still freakin' awesome, but I'd LOVE to see a new Ranger sometime before I retire...

With 35s it'd feel like 250hp.👎

MOAR BOOST PLZ.

I still think it'll look more like a prerunner than a full-on trophy truck

Some sneaky shots of "Project Raptor:"

Don't think for a second that this is a simple exterior package, however. The Raptor comes with a completely redesigned front suspension utilizing new upper and lower A arms, upgraded tie rods, new half shaft joints, and shocks from Fox Racing. In total, the front suspension has a full 13.4 inches of travel and 11.2 inches in the rear. BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA/KO 315/70-17 tires with a unique rubber compound provide a compromise of off-road capability and on-road civility. Power comes from the tried and true 5.4L Triton V8 pumping out 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft torque, although Ford's new 6.2L V8 will be available at a later date.

I. WANT. ONE.

Make mine a 4.4L Power Stroke Diesel V8 (New Generation). The one Ford has been developing and we never heard much of.

You think the SVT Raptor is a new Ford?

Its based on the yet-released F-150, so it shall receive a title of "New" by most measurements. Either way, this is what, the first vehicle to wear an SVT badge since the Cobra died?

At the very least, the last publicized vehicle.

My post was directed as a joke to the gigantic FORD logo in the grill now.

I think they could've put an even bigger "FORD" decal on the sides and it would've been easier to read...

but seriously though, isn't it time Ford dropped the old stylized blue oval logo?

Whoops.

Still, its nice to see the SVT team back doing something for once...

Geez, why don't they just take their huge van thing, and stick a huge supercharged V8 in the middle?!? That'll attract huge amounts of buyers!

I liked the Cobra though. :(

As did I, and even though the GT500 has SHELBY written all over it, as I recall most of the work was done by SVT beforehand. Considering how great of a car the SVT Focus was, and how much of a cultural icon the SVT Lighting had been, its a shame that the brand as a whole had to fall by the wayside because Mr. Shelby didn't want to share.

Granted, I think its cool that SVT has found a new type of performance to go after, but I still want to see an SVT Focus or a SVT Fiesta some day...

Why would they get rid of the old oval logo? It's a symbol of auto history!

The Shelby is meh... this is what it's all about.

Could they sell that new Focus RS as an SVT Focus? Or perhaps rework it a bit or make a US one into an SVT?

But I have a friend with one of those SVT Focii. That is a quick little bugger. Lots of fun to ride in too.

We'd have to get the MKII Focus for that, and we're skipping that generation and going straight to the MKIII. I'm surprised SVT, or for that matter, Ford Racing hasn't put out some kind of special model for the current Focus (after all, its selling surprisingly well), but being that its an old, old, old car... I suppose there isn't much of a need to. All I'd want is the Mazda MZR 2.3L under the hood with a stiff suspension, but that may even be too much to ask for at this point.
