The engine looks really lame. Just a black plastic cover. Too bad about that, because the old V8 looked amazing. I didn't read that article, btw...

I guess you can say I have a certain soft spot for the SHO.

And people think Fur Fetishism is weird...

But, still, WANT. I dont' even care that it's now grown up into an executive express. IN fact....

Passat GTi, Anyone?

Oh man that's awesome, a little more hp than I thought! Loving that interior.

Absolutely Perfect!

Having 365 BHP, AWD, and the ability to out-perform the 550i?

AMERCIA! EFF YEAH!

Jalopnik mentioned in their write up that Ford is considering a "track pack" on top of the Sport Package. Things could get very interesting soon...

So my mom likes the SHO and the GenCoupe. Yay.

One thing even Ford fails at, apparently, is marketing. They aim for young, hip buyers...and they get old people. Seriously, old people need to get it through their skulls that they are old, and they need Buicks. Old people drive Buicks, not Genesis Coupes. Old people can't even bend down to get in Genesis Coupes.

EDIT: 350 lb-ft of torque from 1500 all the way to 5250 rpm is RETARDED. THAT'S ALMOST AS AWESOME AS THIS PICTURE

This is the greatest day for SHO people, as a gen 2 owner, you just can't go wrong.👍

Huh? Genesis Coupes are made by Hyundai, not Ford. Am I missing something?

Nope. But, personally, it's looking good on my end.

Anyone know how many MPG this beast will get?

The badjillion pound Flex was stated by Ford to get the same MPG as its normally aspirated version, so that is a possibility.

I'd say mid-twenties or higher. The brick wall shaped Flex with 350 hp and 5000 pounds to haul around gets over 20 on the highway.

I'll take one in black with black wheels with the chrome blacked out....Mmmm sinister...

I think YSSMAN should capitalize all the words in this thread's title. There's a reason "SHO" is in all capitals.

Done and done.

RE: MPGs

The current car does 24 MPG with the AWD system, my guess would be that the slick body style and no major weight change will keep it right around there without the Performance Package (which changes the axle ratio).

That model designation originally meant Super High Output, which definitely applies to the modern version. Whereas the original SHO used a high-revving 220-hp 3.0L V6 (later a 235-hp 3.4L V8) developed and built by Yamaha, the new SHO's advanced engine turns a relatively small 3.5 liters of displacement displacement and a lot of pressure into 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lb of torque at 3,500 rpm. That makes this version of Ford's 3.5L EcoBoost V6 the most powerful one available with 10 more horsepower than its other applications.

Score!

Unlike the original SHO, however, this new one is about much more than just the engine. Backing up the potent powerplant is a torque-sensing all-wheel-drive system mated to Ford's 6F55 six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The tranny is augmented by a manual mode that can be controlled either by the console shifter or paddle shifters, and will also rev match downshifts and hold gears even when the tach is bouncing off the engine's redline.
Does that not just make you wet?

Awsome. Brilliant. Perfect. Just can't be more thrilled...

+digital rep Great post.

Does that not just make you wet?

Hopefully it'll let you downshift when you want to, not "when it thinks it's not going to go over 4000rpm on the downshift" as the selectable automatic I have most experience with does... Off throttle that is.

in before the next wave of "DYSTTG?!" ( Did You See That Taurus Go ) ;) I actually like it, but it's going against some stiff competition, Starting from Audis..

Wow, that actually looks pretty respectable. Ford hasn't managed a decent design in the NA market for quite some time. Who would've thought the Ford Europe look was actually nice enough to apply to Stateside cars?!?!

The back end is a little wishy-washy, but I still approve of the overall look.

More to the point, if Ford America can make a nutty AWD Taurus for kicks and giggles, why can't Ford Europe make a nutty AWD Focus when they already have a rallying version?

Having not followed the SHO story particularly closely, I'm kinda suprised they didn't make it a RWD car - even if the base model is FWD (is it? I'll check in a minute [edit: yes, apparantly so]), they're still sending power to the back end anyway with an AWD car. A V8 RWD seems more American.

Good point, and one I had forgotton. On the other hand, it works for BMW with the 5 and 6 series.

Bah. Maybe I'm just jaded because the only non-FWD Ford car we get is the Kuga soft roader. The Ford Europe products aren't bad, but I just like the idea of Ford sticking it to Audi with a AWD V8 Mondeo.

How much does the new supercharged A6 go for? But now that I think about it, thats not even enough. You'd have to be opting for the A6 4.2, or perhaps even the S6 to get the performance required to top the SHO. For that kind of money, you're nearly to the point where you can get two SHOs for the price.

Sush, you! You already have a crazy enough car.

America has a habit of having to shove a lot more power in their cars to compete with German machines. I'd bet on this being a competitor to the supercharged A6. And I seriously doubt this thing will be able to hold it's own against any A6 as soon as the road makes the slightest turn. Maybe this thing can go around corners, but I have my bets on it being a disaster to turn.

I was thinking more of the lines of A4/S4. isn't it closer in terms of price/size?

That'd be the Fusion that's closer in terms of size. The new Taurus at least looks huge, and it probably is.

yeah, Taurus is 15 inches longer and 11inches wider than A4. it actually manages to dwarf the A6 too by few inches. Same goes for A8.. :odd: :nervous:
