...this is the future!

600x-1

I'm cutting up my cockpit right now! :dopey:

I have no problem with it as long as it's connected to something and not like a Wiimote. It's obviously not meant to get people to sell their G27 to buy it. If you don't have the money for a DFGT it looks like a good(ish) alternative. A budget steering wheel. I'm all for it. If you don't like it, don't buy it. 👍

REALLY!!!

I stopped work on the rig I've been planning and burned all the metal tubing and just gave the wheel too a random kid riding his bike down the street.

Thanks Sony you're the best 👍

DFGT's aren't that expensive and this will probably be double what a DFGT cost on say ebay or amazon. Next argument please.

Definitely quick to write that one off... What makes you so entirely sure that wheel will cost more than the DFGT? Besides, one of these would be much more versatile than a DFGT.

Oh noez, the sacred world of perfect sim racing hardwarez will be taken over buy a product obviously not meant to rival it!

Whoops, there's another thread. Anyone feel free to quote my posts into there.

Not worried at all, I use similar devices all the time and they don't work any better than a joystick. I've logged many more hours on Mario Kart Wii with a similar tool.

What makes me so sure; the steering angle for one will never reach that of a FFB wheel. You could try to argue that it will but if that were the case, I think big car companies should take out steering columns and just put this in. It'd save weight and be less material. Tell me how is it going to be more versatile and not just an extra controller that is a limited benefit on a small number of games? Bikes are the one thing I see this as a potential great tool for.

I'm willing to bet most people don't own the move system than those who do, then you have the issue of trying to convert that tens of thousands of wheel players to this thing. Along with the issue of people having to buy the move system which is $80-100 dollars plus how much the controller is; which may be anywhere from $30-50 when looking at other Move controllers for certain games. So the question then becomes, should I get the move system or a DFGT that is just as or more immersive

My guess is that they will start selling all new Playstations with the Move system. I mean why else would they release a product which will only work with move? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the move up to now hasn't had a whole lot of sales. Logically, if there is no one to sell a new product (In this case the steering wheel) to, why would you even consider producing it in the first place. Therefore, Sony has no choice but to sell more Moves.

I understand, and even kinda like the concept of these type of controls, however the major problem is that it won't work for races any longer than "x" minutes (depends on your endurance). Try holding your arms out for even 5 minutes, doesn't sound like long, but it starts to hurt.

No, it has to be connected to something right? How else would FFB work? Just normal DS3 vibrations?

Yes I make that point in the other thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7176024#post7176024

They are bring the feature to GT5 not the other way around, the move is already available for PS3, so why bring out new PS3 bundles that have the move, they aren't going to sell many units that way specially when current owners could just go out and buy the move add on for at least 80USD new.

Either way that still doesn't explain the questions I asked in the prior post. Rather you've told me something I came to a conclusion on several hours ago.

It's a move controller, it wouldn't be connected to anything that would defeat the purpose of it.

It's just like that wheel they made specifically for that terrible game SimRaceway. This is a very nice wheel, but it's stupid because you are expected to hold it out in front of you for the whole race

There is no force feedback, on this one, the Playstation one might have vibration, but no force feedback. Some people have rigged them up to connect to a Logitech G25/27 base, but there are still problems with that.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole for a driving game, but I wonder how this could work for some sort of flying game. In addition to just rotating it on a single axis like a steering wheel, you could tilt this thing up and down, and push it forward and pull it back, which could lift and descend your aircraft. This might be a decent controller to bring back Descent.

All this stupid thing will do is further dumb down the game to make it easier for the people using the sex toy looking controller... You think FFB and physics are bad on GT5? Wait for this thing to hit the market!

I was thinking that too, it looks more like a yoke than a steering wheel.

Still, the thing isn't anchored to anything. Gosh I hate this lame motion controller tendency.

To be honest I thought it was a joke before a yoke, let alone a steering wheel. I feer that it will even work in a worse way then Microsoft's Wireless Speed Wheel since it uses a motion capturing technique (both havent worked in my room due to space issues, but my rseat fits in the room :P ).

It looks ok for what it is. And only 39$ if you have a move.

I wont buy it cause I don't need it.

I do wonder if I could now map my move mounted to my rig using the motion as an ebrake instead of the analogbstick as I have it now.

i bought the move system, and if i didnt have a wheel i probably would buy this.... and then return it, as everyone does with the Xbox 360 wireless wheel.

The biggest reason I never use my Move system is that using the gun attachment, you have to hold your arms up the whole time if you dont want your character doing spins while looking at his feet. gets tiring/boring after a couple hours.

Kinda surprised that they brought this out, but this opinion is coming from a group of guys who pretty much all have wheels already. Maybe they're trying to hit some Asian market or something where kids just play arcadey type stuff or dont have room for wheels or whatever...and GT5 is going along because of contract issues, or the fact that they are already integrated with Move coding for (crappy) headtracking.

I don't see it as anything more than just trying to make the game appeal to as many people as possible. For them to put what they do in the game, they have to sell to casual users as well as the hardcore. The only surprising thing may be that it took them this long. Maybe they planned this for LBP Kart and got the idea to update GT5 to use it as well.

It's again the "whole family sitting on the sofa and playing" type of thing.
The accuracy of Move is really great, but I can't imagine having fun playing a race game without something mounted to a rig.
I tried FM4 with Kinect motion control and it feels just dumb grabbing air.
