They follow the same procedures right? Pop the windows disk in, restart, and boot from the disk, format entirely, partition, and install?

Or are there some nasty steps which are needed with Dells?

Respond! :)

Yes...

Dells are easy!

You got the right procedure.

I've formatted loads of dells without a problem! The only problems that I've ever had were with older compaqs. Those are a pain in the royal buttocks to format.

Don't forget to install the drivers for it.

Order:
1. Chipset
2. Video
3. Sound
3. Any other system reqs.

Toyomatt reminded me of a good point. If you're reformatting, make sure you have all the drivers to reinstall. I've reformatted too many machines for friends and when I ask them for the drivers they give me a blank look.

Might wanna see if Dell has released a newer bios as well...

Alright.. Thanks!

I'm perfectly fine with formatting custom computers, but when it comes to branded ones, I have no clue. :) Good to know they work the same way and don't have nasty devices, thanks!
