Formula 1 2005

Just started playing F1 05 yesterday and its really good. I have a DFP and found the steering in F1 04 difficult to judge and the force feedback to be a bit strange. F1 05 is much better, the steering is definetly more solid and the FF works well. The sound is great especially the gear shifts. I wish GT4 had made the F1 car sound as good.

I unlocked the classic lotus last night which is good fun and if you want a twitchy car for a bit of a laugh. Although you can only use it in test sessions. Started the career and got a drive with Minardi and came 7th in Australia and 1st in Malaysia so I think I'll change the difficulty from medium to high. Although I did try a session with it on high difficulty and was able to keep up with the pace. I don't now if you can unlock an extreme or pro difficulty.

The graphics look pretty good considering the number of cars on the track. Compared to F1 04 I'd say the tracks look better but the cars have slightly less detail. They seem to have blurred the areas at the outsides of the screen to ease the load on the PS2 as if a car is a car is overtaking you its out of focus until it is in front when it looks nice and clean. It works pretty well and I suppose you could say its replicating periperal vision.

Anway I think it a big improvement and it a lot of fun to play. Just got to wait for F1 on PS3 now :)

Hey, i got F1 2005 an enjoy it. The best thing is doing the full race weekend with 50%-100% race length so its realistic. Good with the williams F1 wheel tho the FF was annoying me at one point (wunt stop draggin my wheel to the left even when game was paused).

Got some of the clssic cars, havent tried the career more or championship but will when i get some spare time.... vgood tho 👍 👍 👍

Is the normal williams wheel any good with F1 05. I didn't like it much with 03 and 04 (it is good with 02). I've been using the DFP and thats great, just want to know if its worth getting my old Williams wheel out again?

this game is fantastic, the force feedback is sensational, and the replays are brill, they arent all those floaty cams they are proper Tv style static cams, and its so good.

i did a quick race weekend (20% race) with the dynamic fuel so i still had to pit in, chose coulthard for RBR, bad qualifying session i had, really bad, started last, made up 1 position at the start as opposed to 19 in F1 04 (:D) end of lap 3 i was upinto 16th place but some drivers had pitted, my track position was 18th, had a good 2 laps and was behind villeneuve into the pitlane, the interactive pit stops are fab, hit O for the fuel in, O for the fuel out, [] for the tyre check or something then [] again, i cant exactly remember it, came out, tyres had cooled again so i got them back up to temperature, friesacher, webber and some others, karthikeyan as well i think all retired before lap 9, oil flags where being waved only i didnt see the oil and was braking and turning as i went over it which caused me to spin off, dropped a place to villeneuve and got going again, he dissappeared and i was battling with klien as he came from behind, held him off to finish 14th :D

It works great with the DS2 as well. Managaed to win Inianapoils with the DS2 on hard as JPM (thought it might be nice to have a race there once this year). I did use steering help though, which I suppose is cheating a bit, as without it I can't get any sort of accuracy through the corners.

Started to change some of the settings now (like gear ratios) and turned off all the aids.

Cant quite get golds on the timed laps yet. Using the williams F1 wheel FF

I bought this game yesterday and so far am very impressed by it. I had F1'04 but was pretty disappointed by it. I have the DFP so wanted to drive with it, but it was far too imprecise. So I thought I'd try trading that in and getting the new one.

Using the wheel is fantastic. It's very precise, and I can knock 3 seconds off my lap times compared to the DS2.

I did a race weekend last night at Indy, using Michael, 30% distance, hard difficulty, hard AI. All driving aids were off, apart from the usual. Qualified sixth. Once the race started, was fighting with JPM for a lot of the time, but managed to fight my way up to second place. Fisichellas car broke down just after turn 6, leaving oil on the circuit, so marshalls showed the slippy surface flag, which I wasn't expecting at all thinking the game would be just like any other and there wouldn't be anything to worry about, but I hit the oil and my TC just went nuts as I drove over it. A cool moment in gaming for me.

It was soon ready for pitting. Interactive pit stops are a great idea. So I came out in 12th. But then I soon lost fourth gear, so I had to adapt my driving style to accomodate it. Another great moment in gaming.

Then the weather changed. And another cool moment in gaming: the sky slowly changed from blue sky to dark clouds. Then the rain came down.

Finished in 12th as a managed to spin it. But this is a great game. If you are a fan of F1, I urge you to buy it.

Oh, and while I was at Spain, I lapped Narain, and he got shown the blue flag, and pulled to one side to let me through. A cool moment in gaming.

i started career... on hard and 75% race distance.

RBR trial - not succesfull so i tried Jordan and i passed by 3 seconds so i become driver number 2 :D

First race (Australia, lol) was going well, i qualified 17th beating Monteiro and both Minardis, and how the race goes, i overtook one car after the second. I end 3rd :D, behind Raikkonen and MS, believe or not. It was awesome 44 lap race and it gets my first 6 career points. YAY. Now preparing for Malaysia when i am gonna get another points. Peace.

PS: Driving aids were all turned off.

not me, havent got Ethernet :yuck:

btw i won Malaysian GP with Jordan by 1 lap on second driver :odd:
Anyway, now i am Jordan driver no.1 but still no offers from other teams :guilty:

I just finished a full race at the Malaysian Grand Prix (56 laps). All driving aids were turned off and I used the Driving Force Pro. Difficulty was on hard. I used Kimi in his Mclaren. There wasn't too much excitement from what I could see. I qualified 4th (could have gotten pole but I wanted the race to be a little interesting). Shumy blew his engine at the 11th lap which was a surprise. Even with so many unscheduled pitstops ( about 8 pitstops in total and I was running a 3 stop strategy) due to an oil spill, an unusual event in which my nose cone came off as I was braking at turn 1 (possible a combination of low ride heigth and approaching the corcer at an odd angle), and also due to some boredom, I still managed to come in first and lap everyone almost twice while doing it. There were 3 retirements throughout the race which were all due to blown engines from Schumacher, Heidfeld, and Friesacher. My fastest lap time during the race was a 1:30.233. Most of my times were in the mid 1:30s to low 1:32 range except on the laps in which I pitted. My teammate Montoya came in 2nd (he was almost 2 minutes behind me). And Alonso came in 3rd.

I completed Bahrain and Imola.

Bahrain - 14th place, no comments, I HATE THAT TRACK.

Imola - it was pretty cool race, started 4th and gets 1st place after my first pit. Then noone tries to overtake me for first place, so i drive in my style :) . It was my second win for Jordan team, aaand i get offer from RBR and it was succesfull :D. Now i am driver no.1 in RBR.

This is a good F1 game, definetly the best on the ps2, especially with the DFP. It is just to easy though, even on hard with all driving aids off I can usually win all the races without a problem. The only thing that is a bit of a challenge is getting golds in the time trials, but thats not to tough (definetly easier than getting some golds in GT4). I really hope that when I finish the carreer there is a "Pro" or "Ace" difficulty unlocked. Anyone got this far yet?

how you mean "finish the career" ? just normaly finish, have x titles, or x points? hmm i dont think so theres harder difficult. too bad that i can win also with jordan fast and easily :indiff: on hard with DA all off. Challenge and fun is lost.

I was just woundering if I could make it harder. On some games you have to get through it on one difficulty level before you can get onto the harder ones. But it doesn't look like you can as I looked in the unlockables sections and it doesn't say anything about it.

Bahrain has to be the worst track ever.

What car do you race with? By how much do you win?

No wonder I couldn't find this or '04 F1.

Godd*mn, give us Americans some good sport racing games. The ones here are getting old and hardly anything is or was updated by EA.

If I can't get this, then I'll wait until F1 '06 for the PS3 comes out.

aww bad for ya

Hey people i have a question. Do you have pit or TV commentary in career? Because i dont hear anything. TV commentary is not missing, but the pit one yes, coz i have all that stuff on screen turned off (pits/fuel, flags, position, etc.)

I have both. But sometimes both go off for some reason but come back on after a while.

Oh well. I don't need it in the states.
I have big racing relative outside of France, shall we say, and he has been playing this non-stop, and I'll be seeing him this week, so yeah!

Is this game very different from F1 2004?

I don't really care much about having the newest teams / cars / license etc... I was just interested in a challenging race game. If the game is pretty similar to F1 2004 I might as well get that one instead because it's only 20 bucks. The screenshots look quite ugly though. Even though it can't really be compared, how are F1 2004 and 2005 compared to GT4?

Ford racing 3 maybe...I am with smelly, the new licenses and teams etc. aren't worth 60$$. I wish sony would just drop the prices of ps2 games a little around the time ps3 comes out.

Hey you don't get the F1 games, and us in the UK dont get the NASCAR games you get on PS2 which pisses me off. So i feel your pain, all we can do is hope. You hope EA release F1 in the US, and I hope they release NASCAR in the UK.

I just got F1 '05 yesterday and i have to say i really like it. I have got F1 '04 and i think F1 '05 is a real step up from F1 '04.
I am in a World Championship with Webber and have won Australia and Malaysia with 100% race distance and on hard.

good 👍

i have doned Canada (Ret) and USA (1st) and i get offer from Re...Renault! :D
Now after France i will do the tests so hope i will get seat there.
