Formula 1 2005

Spain was fun, espically when you hit your stride and stay there. for some reason, in the middle to the end of the race, all of a sudden I start pulling out laps 2-4 seconds quicker than the field and just blow by everyone. the only downside about Spain is that you can't fudge up anywhere or it will cost you a place, like F1 in real life I suppose.

Bahrain is just tough, I could remember going through that quick left hand turn at the end of that straight(after that funky double apex decreasing radius left turn) 125mph through there, the best I can manage is something like 90 or 100. I still have a tough time with that track, but it's a challenge.

my favourite track though, has to be Spa-Francorchamps. I LOVE that track. oh man that is the new Nurburgring Nordschleife in the F1 callender. just the feeling you get from racing it, it's not a "mechanical" feeling like you get from other tracks. I'm not sure what it is about it, but I prefer it and look foward to watching it every year and racing it in my game. oopp, F1 qualifying is on. see ya.

rock.
Yeah, sometimes I have pace at Spain, sometimes not. I'm not a huge fan of the track either, it's a very "sterile" race track if you knoiw what I mean, it's got nothing really special about it.

I love Bahrain, and that double apex decreasing radius turn is hella fun

I know what you mean about the feeling you get at Spa, the car just feels kinda different there, I like it.

but the penalty system seems very random, I don't like it. it not that I don't like the penalties themselves, it's just I'm never sure what the computer will think is a penalty and what isn't, it's insane(penalty system).

BTW, Blake, what's the quickest you can manage at Imola and Monaco? I managed a low 1.15.xxx I belive at Imola and a 1.11.xxx or 1.10.xxx. I'm not exactly sure about that one, but it was below 1.12.xxx I know that. just interested in what other times people are getting. all those are done in the Renault R24 this current season that I'm in. that's all I can remember, but yea, I'm excited about the new F1, can't wait.
Alot of people have complained about the penalty system but I like it, I race as though it was real life, I don't touch other cars and I don't go off the track so I don't get penalties often, I think I've got like 4 penalties since I've had the game....

Imola I know I can get low 1.15 and I'm not sure whether or not I can get a 14. And at Monaco I've got 1.10 in a Minardi on a few occasions, the other cars are no faster.

My favourite track to race on is Albert Park and I like top lap around albert Park and Monza. I can get 1.22s at Albert Park with a Minardi after a few laps to get the tyres cycled, I want to see what I can get in a Williams (my favourite car for fast laps, I just remember my Minardi times better). And at Monza 1.19s, it's tracks like that where you can see the lack of power the Minardi has, especially during races.

do you all use steering wheel to play this?

im getting the williamsF1 force feedback wheel (the black one) its gonna be amazing

I use DS2. It's easier to control pedel pressures with a DS2. Seriously....I'd love a wheel where you actually had to "push" to get the pedals down, the one I have the pedals go down too easy and it's hard to control the level of braking with them.

Hello. I am new to these forums. I hope I will be able to get PS2 game info. from this source; specifically Formula1 game updates. When is F1 '05 to be released? And I am in Canada, so will the game be available here?

Thanks

- Momo

BTW...Canadian Grand Prix in about 10 hours :)

sorry, missed it :embarrassed:

it is due to be released later this month, though on one site it says 1st of july, another says 26th june, so around that time...
i dont think it is available in canada so you will have to get an import but dont hold me too that i could be wrong..

one things for sure its gonna be good

linky to some info and release date http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=PT1837&title=formula_one_2005

But if I order online/import a copy of F1 '05 for PS2, it should still work on my ps2 system here right? (PS2 purchased in Canada)...

no, i think you need to mod it or purchase a import ps2...

i was thinking, it says it will have classic cars and calssic TRACKS, do you think they would include the old nordschleife??

I was thinking that, I dunno though. It'd be very interesting. The classic cars on F104 were pretty poor in terms of physics, the felt the same aerodynamically as the modern cars, just with less power.

So in order for the Euro F1 '05 to work on my [North American] PS2, I need to install a mod chip? (illegal btw but not too hard to find). In other words I would be getting a burnt copy of F1 '05 ? (usually burnt games on mod'd PS2 {whole purpose})...

I use a fliptop and a swap disc to play it. also, I'm not sure if it will work on you TV. cause it didn't work on mine. I have to play it on an old computer monitor, and even then, it's till black and white.

Not many PS2 games are going to tempt me nw that I know what the next gen games are going to look like.........ill wait for F12006 on da PS3!

So much work just to play a single game - F1 '05!....Perhaps it will eventually come out here in North America. There is money to be made. Sony is producing the game right?

Blake
Are you serious? That would suck...

Blake

yea, I am. but still, I can race fine and I have no problems racing or enjoying the racing. it just like regular games, cept it's in black and white. besides, I've wanted a flip-top for some time because I've wanted some imported games that I never could have normally played. I don't mind it. black and white F1 04 is better than no F1 04.

agreed, as long as you play it and enjoy it thats all that matters....

im getting a new TV speaking of which, for my birthday, got a DVD built in so...

also my birthday is the same day as the UK release of F1 2005 :D

I can't find F1 '04 here in Canada either! The most recents is the Formula 1 Career Challenge. I've played it. It covers 4 seasons in one game ('98 - '02). Not bad. Not that great either. I really want F1 '05 when it comes out, but then again, I don't know if I will be able to successfully install that flip-top thing. [Not too techy myself]. Are you guys sure that if I order the game off the web it won't work on my PS2? Aren't PS2s in N.A. and Europe the same? (Other than the AC outlet piece).

The game is released on Japan too I think. So you could get that one and play in color.
