A decision needs to be made soon in my opinion
 
I think if the tyres are dangerous, we should abandon the championship.
 
What a mess. Flying debris could be very dangerous, no matter how small it is.

In an act of eco-generosity, Michelin has apparently donated curbs to Silverstone made of recycled razorblades...
 
Wow. So, Vettel had cuts on his previous set of tyres. Yeah, it must be the kerbs, but... It's the same kerbs as in 2011 and 2012...

EDIT: Wow. Adrian Newey looking at a picture of Vettel's tyres. It looked pretty bad. What a PR disaster for Pirelli.

Bit drastic. Suspend next race then develop new tyres.
 
Marshals are all over the track clearing up debris.
 
A red flag may be necessary... but after last year's spectator fiasco, this will kill Silverstone's 2014 ticket sales...
 
How much lap time would a driver loose if he's not using the kerbs as an extension of the track??
 
I'm seriously worried. Mythbusters investigated what would happen if a truck tyre exploded and hit someone behind. They found out, complete decapitation.

Considering an F1 tyre is lighter however is moving much faster then I would think the kinetic energy would be similar. (ke = 0.5xMassxVelocity/\2)

Gee what could the FIA do the fix this, surely not allowing Pirelli to run 2013 spec cars and do emergency in season tire test. 💡

Nah, Indianapolis were just fine. ;)
 
They are using new glue on tyres this race, problem with Pirellis is overheating steel, it causes this issue. New glue is probably what causes tyres to explode instead of previous delaminations. Left rear gets hottest, track temperature getting hotter probably puts tyres on the limit now compared to previous sessions. Quite dangerous, I wonder if it will be red flagged and stopped if there is another left rear failure.

Hopefully Pirelli deem tyres unsafe and make the change instead of waiting for teams to agree to change to Kevlar.

Ultimately, it's FIA's fault. We need better rules to allow Pirelli to develop tyres with relevant cars.

Increase tire pressure, and stay off the curbs.

Hopefully that helps squash the tire problem.

We can only hope, but if there is a load problem for some combined with the heat...then it wont help.

If it is the curbs. I'm not sure if it is. Does DRS remain disabled for the remainder of the race?

Only the first two laps after the restart.
 
I'm skeptical of the +pressure/-curb idea.

Left rear is the highest stressed on this track.
 
Already seen Alonso go over the curbs. Guess its not being fully warned about.
 
It has been fully warned, the drivers don't care and will take their chances and just keep going flat out.
