I suggest you make a separate thread for general F1 discussions or something, moving all the off-topic posts there.

The staff does not want a "general F1" thread, and has said so on several occasions. Likewise, we don't have a "general automobile" thread, "general GT4" thread, and so on, and so forth.

You're free to begin or discuss within any past or present F1 topic in its own thread.

This was the first race i missed this season. Sounds like it was a bit of same ol' same ol'.

-Vettel taking the lead and extending it to around 10 seconds and then just taking it home.
-Alonso making a blinder of a start from fifth on the grid and making some excellent passes in the first few laps to end up on the podium but never challenging for the win.
-Massa also getting away just fine and then fade throughout the race.
-Webber starting poorly only to drive an OK race and end upnear the top
-Hamilton and Räikkönen having some sort of technical problems or strategy errors and having to drive out of their skulls to end up in the points.

Did I miss anything?

Di Resta crashed out on the first lap.

Massa didn't fade. "Alonso was faster than him" at some stage and he let him pass. After that he did a great job to stay close to Webber. Oh and Webber start wasn't that bad actually, he just lost out trying to fight Sebastian in the first corner IIRC.

@pupik noted.

My question is are you placing Alonso higher than Hamilton and Vettel, or are the levels based on something else?

(This might sound like fanboy whining)
I'm placing Alonso and Kimi higher than Vettel and Hamilton. I think that they are better drivers.

When was the last time you saw Webber actually gain positions at the start?

And both RB's had some sort of gearbox issue, forcing them to short shift. Webber had to short shift 2-3 and Vettel 5-6. Could it be a sign of small cracks in the reliability of the RB?

Don't think so. They might be isolated incidents.

Figured since we've been warned not to go on with driver comparisons beyond or prior to this race. I'll just hope to debate this another day.

Also I still feel bad for Vergne quite amazing that the Ferrari engine gave way.

Also, the Hoff was talking to John Surtees and Bernie whilst wearing a RBR shirt.

He is part of their new reserve driver next year. :sly:

He had to argue with Bernie to not deny him of his dream.

I thought about this for a little, and I think that Alonso and Hamilton where the ones who pushed the hardest in this race. I don't believe we've seen Alonso push that hard since Catalunya, and for Hamilton probably not since Monaco.

I mean the nature of Monza calls for basically pushing like hell and not much technical driving, so of course everyone was pushing it, but for lap after lap, Alonso and Hamilton went nuts with their cars. Vettel did some pushing as well but only early on. Webber seemed to really just be contempt with 3rd and possibly wasn't motivated to bring it to Alonso.
