His steering wheel was already at 45 degrees before the suspension fully blew up. It broke earlier on the straight.
 
Three on-track mechanical DNFs and six drivers out is making this a real blast from the past. All we need is one big plume of engine smoke and a surprise in the points and this is a genuine classic.

There was a time when you weren't allowed to serve penalties under safety car conditions. I assume that's changed nowadays?

I think that goes for stop-and-gos and drive-throughs, but not for regular time penalties.

Edit: Speaking of stop-and-gos, can't remember the last time we had one before Hadjar just got one.

Two front-runners out is also a highlight but it was very disappointing that Russell was one of them. That was a great battle and, in the end, a great race. Really enjoyed watching that one.

Solid podiums for Lewis and Max.

Williams P9 and Haas P10? Nice.

McLaren ruined their race from the start, and it kept getting worse. So disappointed. Glad it's over, but all that work to chip away at Ferrari in the WCC... man.
 
Heikki Kovalainen doing the interviews is a bit of a whiplash moment, it seems like it was only yesterday he was still in F1 (it was actually 13 years ago, help...)

They seem to have invested in microphones for the cooldown room, can actually hear them properly for once.
 
That wasn't bad at all!! An entertaining race for sure....very chaotic though.

Russell got it all to do now and Kimi just need to keep delivering.

Solid podium for Lewis and Max. Their battles toward the end there was really nice. Interesting that they both came out of it with all their carbon fiber intact.

I was getting ready for a wet chaos but that wasn't half bad at all.

Yeah haha noticed that too, hearing the cooldown room its one of the best parts.

I was getting quite frustrated with Kimi's aggressiveness - although it makes for a good race, it sounded like the team were quite frustrated as well; I don't understand why he needed to be attacking so early and so aggressively, and he almost took Russell out several times across the weekend - and, in the end, none of it was necessary.

McLaren had a nightmare, and similarly I couldn't understand why they didn't split their strategy and put one car on Inters at the start and one on slicks.

Great race from Lewis and I was happy (for once 😅) to see Max back at the sharp end. Gutting for Russell, and otherwise a solid performance from Kimi, but I think he needs to calm it down a bit, and arguing with the team about very risky moves he's pulling on his team mate seems like a really bad idea.
