Just caught up on the race and, uh, what the hell was that 5-second penalty for Lewis on lap 1? And how on Earth did Charles not get a penalty for the move he pulled on Piastri that resulted in damage?

Of course, the obvious conclusion is and always has been that decisions are made based on the end result and nothing else, which isn't supposed to be the case. Spa isn't typically meh, but this race was. For me, anyway.
Nothing much different than usual. Lewis gets a super special treatment specialy for him when he's fighting for WDC since he got his 5th or 6th. If this was not a racing incident on lap 1 that needed no further investigation I dont know what is.

Still haven’t come across a convincing argument that the Hamilton-Russell incident warranted a penalty. Seems like most people saw it as just a racing clash.

Because it was. They penalized the outcome and not the incident as per usual.

Now that Leclerc - Piastri incident though....

I was surprised Leclerc didn’t get penalized, he can be a bit dirty sometimes. Some people seem to think the car on the outside has zero entitlement to space, regardless of how far alongside they are. Unfortunately some of those same people are also stewards. Makes no sense to me.
