While Norris did give up his place last year in Hungary.

Norris and Oscar were not competing for the WDC back then.
Even Max thinks its stupid.

Sad thing with how McLaren seem to operate is if he ignored it they would just screw him over later in the year anyway so it's just really crap mentality.

Worth noting Piastri was gaining half a second a lap on Lando before the stops.

Anyways.

That's not really saying much. Red Bull hasn't had much reason to play team games if they only have 1.5 drivers.

And the one time they did it, it blew up in their faces, but that's why Vettel was an elite driver.

Max wraps it up retaking the fastest lap.
Really?

Aside from what you think about the McLaren pit stop malarkey, this is good for the championship battle. It brings Lando slightly closer again, and it will probably fuel both drivers’ frustrations in the future, possibly even raise tensions between the two

For the spectacle maybe but for the racing? It sucks, they're free to race as long as the cars are the order McLaren want them to be.

McLaren again with their shenanigans here.
Seeing Max win here reminded me of his 2023 dominance. Considering how good the Mclaren has been this season, it's crazy to think that they got beat by almost 20 seconds.

We apparently just witnessed the shortest ever full length F1 race, at only 73 mins.
It beat the 2003 Monza Grand Prix with Schumacher at 74 minutes 19 seconds with an average speed of 153.8 mph.

Not to be confused with the shortest race at the 2021 Belgian GP.

edit: Also, Lando takes the fastest race lap record for the circuit.

The Monza crowd booing Lando.
Piastri is a honorary Leclerc, which basically makes him part of the Family. Of course they boo Lando.

At some point these guys should stop being nice and start being champion material. You think Max/Lewis/Seb/Fernando/Michael would have followed those orders here or in Hungary? In a battle with your teammate, what would Alain or Ayrton have done?

That’s flawed framing, and I think you know that. McLaren lets them race, but are hesitant to letting a battle between the two be decided by team factors the drivers have no control over; a slow stop because of a mistake by the pit crew (or perhaps equipment failure, it’s not entirely clear to me) is one of these things.
Again though, like in Hungary last year, they themselves (the team) allowed this situation to happen by letting the car behind get the undercut.

An legitimate argument for Piastri retaining the position, or more broadly against McLaren’s decision and the logic I explained in this comment can most certainly be made; I don’t think it delegitimise McLaren’s position, though.

Yeah, their drivers haven't been the problem, it's their approach to racing and winning. It works with dominant cars, but not so much with 2nd/3rd best.

An incredibly dominant weekend from Verstappen, he had extra pace in the bag when needed and smooth sailed it. One of his best in recent years.

Edit: Also this race needs to be longer. FIA should allow Monza to bypass the 305km rule - I'd say at least 70 laps.

How will Gen Z cope.
