Why did you let them battle?
We thought we should inject some copium that Max & George will go nuts on the last lap & we snag a podium.

So we end behind the safety car.

Great drive from Russell, controlled it all the race. Well done to Antonelli on his first podium.

Wonder if Russell is going to get punished for that brake move or is Verstappen going to get punished for passing under SC.

Lando's championship hopes up in smoke for a few points

edit: Oh yeah, nice work Russell. Great win

I expect no action.

Great result for both Mercs. Congrats to Antonelli for his first podium

Great race for the Mercs. Congrats to Kimi on his podium.

Could've been a decent result for McLaren. At least Lando acknowledged his mistake.

Ferrari fizzled.

Alonsooooooooo!

Hulk quietly having another good race.

It still feels weird cheering Ocon points.

There's a splattered Groundhog on the track below the camera before the T10 hairpin. Perhaps that's where the damage on Hamilton's car came from?
Someone just confirmed with a screen grab. You can see the little fellow unfortunately in the middle of the track under the bridge.

So it's not just starting races that Lando is bad at! I have no idea what was going through his head there. Made no sense at the time, makes no sense after multiple replays

If we handed out points based on reverse grid order.
Lance would've obtained 25pts.

But sadly, we do no do this.

Two corners before, I was literally thinking "Does he even have the stones to attempt it on his teammate" and low & behold, he did. Just that unfortunately, he got super desperate and went for a gap that was never there. Good on him for immediately taking responsibility, would have made him look even worse if he didn't.

Red Bull is now protesting against Russell for 10 car length behind the SC and the unnecessary hard braking. RUS and VER were both at the stewards for 45 mins discussing the topic.

I guess the idea was to be on the inside for the first left turn/chicane. Under normal circumstances Piastri would have been more to the right side of the track when they collided. He didn't expect Piastri to drive a defensive line like that is what it looks like.

Now that Red Bull are on record saying that the driver radio messages about possible penalties are unsportsmanlike (and I agree), that means Max is going to stop doing it as well, right?

Red Bull not be hypocritical? Good luck with that

Still, a little bit of me thinks George's antics were deliberate to try and get Max banned for a race. The penalty for overtaking under safety car would definitely come with at least 1 penalty point. George was super close to the Safety Car when it happened so he never got further than 10 car lengths away so he was in the clear, and he waited for Max to be having an overlap anyway before it happened. Right decision by the stewards to tell them to both grow up and leave the result alone though.

It's not hypocrisy if they're just okay with being unsportsmanlike

I rewatched the onboards of both of them and it looked like Russel was playing some dirty games behind the sc. I was kind of surprised there was no reprimand or penalty for dropping too far back because he did that 3 times, not far enough though I guess.

My main concern though is how the hell does it take the stewards 5 hours to figure it out?

They were a bit busy. The Russell/Verstappen childish nonsense, Piastri/Norris collision, half the field overtaking under safety car conditions after the chequered flag, Bearman unsafe rejoin, etc.

I'm actually a bit surprised they didn't do more about the safety car violations. Too many incidents recently of drivers making up their own rules with the flags. It's a safety issue for the marshals and others trackside, there should be no exceptions or leniency.
