As has Russell, like when he collided with a car in pit lane as he was trying to force his way through.
He had to give way to traffic already proceeding, he doesn't gets his front wing damaged and then moans.
Technically his engineers fault and that wasn't in qualifying.

F1 cars going from 320 to 270 in the straight while being full throttle, pinnacle of Motorsport
The engine suppliers are praying Adolfiyev launches his own "special military operation" to save themselves from the sight of running out of charge before the kink on Baku's main straight.

F1 2026 on Ps5 will be something of a learning curve. A race game that feels like playing Journey.....

Can't believe how the cars are this crazy... It's like they are constantly holding back.

As we understand it, there hasn't been a correlation to the chassis. We obviously have limited information but it sounds like, partly because of Adrian Newey's desire to have very tightly packaged bodywork, Honda had to redesign the layout of the PU and battery to fit the needs of the car design
I have heard this also. And today, on Austrian TV, they also mentioned that when Newey and Stroll flew to Japan recently to talk to Honda, they were surprised that some engineers they expected to see/talk to (which have probably also worked on RB's engine) have left the company. I can't guarantee it's true but usually the Austrian F1 TV guys have good connections to the teams.

As someone who finds George to be completely uninteresting, it’s gonna be a long year, or era. Kimi has the talent to challenge him but not yet the consistency.

That qualy gave me 2015 vibe. Top 2 Mercedes over 7 tenths up over the next non Mercedes car. I really hope it doesn't translate into the same thing in the races and the "complexity" of the cars keep things interesting and unpredictable, otherwise this will be a very very long season 😮‍💨😔....I had so much hope too that the fights would be much closer, maybe I was too naive!!

That's the neat part, their real advantages is race pace

Trying to give a little hope, Melbourne is an odd circuit in the calendar very different from everything else so hoping Merc just did a fantastic good job and others didn't and it can be closer on normal tracks 🤞 (but I have the feeling the race will even be worse for the others on pace)

It’s okay. Max will steal his seat next year.

Considering that Max fundamentally does not like this current formula, I honestly don't see that happening. If things don't change with these cars, I think it's very likely that Max bows out of F1 and focuses on GT racing.

How can anyone find this racing any bit exciting. Watching guys lift and even on some cases downshifting on a straight to regain battery charge. Only one can hope that the advancement in this engine technology can progress to the point where we eliminate this clipping and super clipping. It's unfortunate too, as the cars asthetically look really good. I can understand (but i don't like it), that in a race some management is required. But when a f1 car can't do a single lap flat out, then in my opinion they have lost their way. George won't have to worry about Max taking his seat. Max will just leave F!.

Its no comparison. At this point swapping LMP2 engines into these new cars would be a upgrade.

These guys have got three rounds to lock me in. I'm not wasting my time watching crap, it's bad enough they've destroyed football which I pretty much only watch my team now as it's that bad ( and we play terrorist football thanks to Conte) but I gotta watch this nonsense to keep who happy? Greta Thumberg? Get rid of all the crap that isn't an engine, get rid of the virtual signaling and race in proper cars, or just stop F1 if you really want to save the world. F1 isnt more important than saving the world right?

Maybe these rubbish regs will create unpredictable racing. I'll just watch F2 if it's more of the same.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to this formula until the checkered flag this weekend, but based on what we've seen so far, I don't have particularly high hopes. A key component will likely be which drivers get a better handle on energy deployment and recovery with their cars, as well as general reliability woes. This might create some good, or at least somewhat unpredicatble racing, though it's admittedly not the greatest aspect to rely on.

That being said, if things stay where they currently are and don't show signs of changing, then I'd implore others to give the likes of IMSA, WEC, DTM and GTWC Europe a follow, as there's at least a couple of interesting storylines happening in each championship this year. Indycar may potentially bring something to the table, but that depends on how much Alex Palou dominates the series, and the happenings surrounding the Washington D.C. race.

Well we haven't seen them race yet so I'll withhold judgement until we have actually seen a race with these cars.

They aren't optimal for a flat out Q session, but I like seeing the drivers having to fight the cars a little bit. If the regulations deliver the closer racing they were aiming for, them I'm more willing to let slide some oddities in qualifying.

As this is one of the worse tracks for energy, I’ll wait for China for a judgement.

Strategy prediction for tomorrow: start on softs, wait for the first car to retire to pit, repeat for a second stop

The clipping on the straights is a joke and arguably kind of sketchy but I’m sure they will make it more efficient eventually.

George’s pole lap was the big sad
Hopefully the more on-edge nature of the cars helps with the midfield battle, because it looks like Mercedes have cooked again

It's probably a good thing that they might skip Jeddah. All these cars will be harvesting in different areas, it could lead to some dangerous situations, especially at a high speed track with so many blind corners.

Haven't they been designing their engine for a while now?
I know chassis development only could be done last year

It's still Audi's very first attempt and both making an F1 PU, and a chassis. So even though they've been working on the project for a longer time, doesn't make it any less impressive in my opinion.

Regarding Russell: I was purely talking about qualifying. Russell hasn't made the grave mistakes Antonelli has during all three Q-sessions. I'm pretty sure there wasn't another driver who got as many instant replays as Antonelli did, going too hot in a corner or locking up his brakes.

PU, yes, chassis? In name only, Sauber and the Hinwil facility are very well verses in making F1 chassis', including for another well known German marque.

We’ve got a whole grid of Supercars at the track, I propose we run the Grand Prix as a 300km driver swap endurance race. Imagine: Verstappen/Feeney, Bottas/Mostert, Stroll/Jones. It’s just too perfect.
