Fresh from the fastest lap of all time, we head below sea level to Baku for the circuit with the longest flat-out section on the calendar. Top speed here is just as crucial as at Monza, except the large selection of slow-speed corners at Baku makes it a completely different challenge. A modern classic of a circuit, the high speeds and close concrete walls have produced plenty of memorable moments, surprise wins and podiums and have also snapped countless front wings and suspension arms. McLaren have the chance to wrap up the Constructors Championship here if result go their way, where hopefully they can then focus on letting their drivers work out who is winning the Drivers Championship without much interference. Will anyone be stupid at the AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX?

I expect Red Bull to blitz Sector 3, but from everything I've read about Baku, Sector 2 is the make-or-break it point for this track. I wonder how much of Red Bull's speed will be compromised as they look for the best setup to tackle S2.
 
I have a feeling Ferrari could be stronger here.
 
It would be nice if Max and perhaps Ferrari or Mercedes can make it harder for Mclaren to win without too much trouble. Make it exciting till the end of the season.
 
McLaren seem kind of mid in the third sector. Hopefully Ferrari and Red Bull can keep them on their toes.
 
Mercedes is very quiet. Wonder what they are cooking. Those top 4 teams seems to be all in it with Ferrari showing their pace early on and I have a feeling everyone else is still hiding their cards. On a weekend where they could clinch the WCC, it's a very "un-McLaren" like FP2 so far this season.
 
Albon out of Q1, clipped the wall at turn 1.

Edit: Hulkenberg brings out another red flag in Q1.

Why bother having yellow flags these days
 
It was nice of race control to hold the red flag long enough for PIA to get a lap in, go SAFETY go. :rolleyes:

Double waved yellows not to mention there was nothing left on the clock.
 
I have a feeling Leclerc's mistake at T1 ruined Lewis run plan behind him and put him on the backfoot with those soft tires that can't really improve after multiple laps and meanwhile leclerc medium was still coming to him. Ferrari should have put both of them on the Medium.
 
Ferrari got greedy and wanted to keep an extra set of tires for q3, they should have just made the sacrifice. The softs can barely do a single qualy lap anyway.
 
Leclerc out, red flag.
