Five whole seconds time penalty for Hamilton? I'm sure that'll make a huge difference.

Seeing as lewis is most likely going for a 1 stop strat the +5s at the end of the race is pointless.
They should make a rule that says ALL PENALTIES MUST BE SERVED IN THE PITLANE.

Can't they serve both penalties at the same time?

10 second penalty purely discretionary too... a bit harsh, but the stewards must want cyril to get a tramp stamp good chance for a rennault podium for sure...

It probably will. On soft tyres, after a safety car so a condensed field, it'll dump him in the lower midfield and that'll take ages to clear.

Clearing the field takes time for a normal car, but when a car is 10%+ faster it is easy.
Remember Silverstone when hammy got put to the back of the grid last time.
He climbed back to the top rather quickly.

If they give him a Penalty point on his license for those infringements, especially if it's one each, he'll be on 10/12, if which none expire until Bahrain.

What I like about Lewis is he never lets things that happen get on top of him, the mark of true greatness, sit back and watch how he responds to this...

So FIA gave 10 second penalty for "unsafe" start practice on the track, but is okay with the T2 bollard/wall to stick out on the path of the car? Also as someone pointed out Max cut T2 and receives no penalty for not going around the bollard? F1 doesn't need new regs or cost caps. It's dumb contradictions and rules like these that just serves to obfuscate the real action on track. Makes for great viewing as HAM battles his way effortlessly back to podium finish tho...

Love the Twitch quartet (minus Leclerc) battling each other btw.

EDIT: Apparently Max goes around the bollard.

Depends what result you're after.

I reckon Lewis will make it back to 3rd. Instead of winning, like you'd expect him to, that's a big difference - a ~17 point swing.

If you're expecting Hamilton to be cast to 17th and stay there, then that's just unrealistic.

Max did go around the bollard, though?
